The First Spinjitzu master obviously used the realm crystal to borrow some chi from Chima and evolve the serpentine. The only serpentine who didn't drink the chi were the Great Devorer and the Anacondrai Legend Beast (AKA, Clouse's pet).

But... Fabuland was a classic! It was a kids theme, so action and fighting is not really necessary. And the Chima cartoons look creepy, too.

2. No it wasn't. Chima's animation is much better than that of many other cartoons and even video games nowadays.
