This one's majorly short, but in the next chapter we get a few Zed reveals.
It was some time before Jay, who was now in the lead spoke. “Guys, this is getting us nowhere.” He sighed
“Maybe we should try contacting Nya now?” Cole suggested hopefully.
“No good, I've been trying for the past few minutes. There must be some interference with the magnetic field.” Kai said.
“Well why don't we split up?” Ronin looked from face to face.
“With no communication, no thanks.” Lloyd shook his head.
“But Nya called us, so where they are must be fine.” Zane said.
“True, but if one group finds them first, what happens then?” Cole asked.
“My guess would be that once we get past these first few tunnels, the interference should clear up.” Zane looked around.
“So we stay together until our ‘com’s are back online, then we split up?” Kaiq asked.
“Sounds like a plan.” Lloyd agreed.
“Guys. Hush, I hear someone.” I heard Nya’s tense voice whisper.
“Alright prisoners! Let's move it.” The guard said unchaining me. Zed and Nya got up too. Nya and I quickly went into the hallway, where several other guards stood. But as Zed tried to push past the guard. He laid a strong hand on Zed.
“You come with me.” He said taking Zed by one arm.
“Let my brother go!” I yelled trying to break free of one of the guards grasps. But he held tight. I felt Nya lay a gentle hand on me. I sighed. But let the guard take me away.
Also, I lied. It'll be a couple more chapters before we get to Jay and Cole.
“What do you want with me? I've given Cracio all he can ask for and more! You promised to let the girl go!” I said to the guards as soon as Maria was out of hearing range, anger pulsed through me.
“Look kid. I don't think your old man would be happy with this, much less Cracio.” The guard smiled a cocky grin.
I took a deep breath before continuing. “I will refrain from questions, for now. But, if you so much as touch her. You will regret it deeply.”
“I wouldn't be talking too much kid. After all, your Ma ain't callin’, the shots ‘round here no more.” With that the guard pushed me ahead of him, into another cell. But Maria and Nya weren't there. It was cold. It had been a long time since I had truly felt warmth. My family and I had been living in these tunnels for a long time now. I often wondered, what it would it be like to live with no fear? No more running. No one gets hurt. I sorta want to run away sometimes. But I remember then, at least I'm with my family...
“What are they doing with him?” I asked.
“I don't know Maria. But if you keep worrying about him. You'll worry yourself sick.” Nya sighed.
“I guess. But at the same time, I just wonder. Why do they keep taking him?” I sighed.
“Guys. I've got signal!” Kai said suddenly.
“Me too.” The ninja coursed one by one.
“Alright, so Cole you Jay and Kai go together. Zane and Ronin with me.” Lloyd said.
“Agreed.” Cole added, before saying a brief goodbye to the other group.
“The girl has been moved, and Zed is starting to think about his, position. But he still corporates.”
“Good, but he has done his part in this plan. So it may be better for him to, leave.”
Ok, so I'm spamming these chapters because "IT FEELS LIKE THE END, THAT'S A BAD PLACE TO START."
“So, anyone find any hot girls lately?” Cole asked, breaking the silence.
“Heh, no.” Kai answered.
“What do you think.” Jay added his voice.
It was a little while later, when Kai, who was leading, stopped dead in his tracks.
“Hey! Keep it moving up there!” Jay said.
“Hush.” Kai hissed.
“Awa, canoo, kalorus. Kanok, polur, tanii.” A chanting noise took the place of the silence.
“Eerie.” Jay whispered.
“Seriously.” Cole embossed.
“Follow me guys.” Kai hissed, his voice tense.
After awhile of them following the chanting, they came to a cavelike room. With walls no longer made from heavy iron, but of pure stone.
“Well, you got us somewhere Kai.” Cole commented.
“But where?” Jay asked.
“Just follow me, I can sense Nya now.” He said, once again leading the way, his pace quickening with each step.
“Wait, sense her?” Cole repeated. His step following the beat of Kai's.
“Yeah, we each have a unique elemental signature. And Sensei is teaching me how to recognize Nya’s.” Kai responded.
“Geez. Special treatment much?” Jay sighed.
“You could have asked anytime Spark Plug.” Kai said. “Now shush! I need to concentrate.” Kai slowly closed his eyes for a solid five minutes. “She’s this way!” He said after a while. He again took the lead. And soon voices could be heard again. But they were female, and younger this time.
“Wait, shush Maria.” They heard someone whisper.
“Ny, that you?” Jay asked slowly inching forwards.
“Jay?” She whispered back.
“Yes! Ny, where are you?” Jay asked.
“Feel around. We're in a fairly spacious cell.” Nya said.
“Wait, cell?” Cole repeated.
“Yeah, why?”
“Like chained up?”
“No, but I think they chained Mari.” Nya sighed, in response, they heard a faint jingling.
“Who's Mari?” Kai asked.
“Maria, the one Ronin's looking for.” Nya replied.
“Are you sure she's there. She hasn't spoken.” Cole smiled.
“Ah-ha!” Jay yelled suddenly. “Found it!” Nya quickly rushed up to the door and hugged him through the bars.
“I was so scared.” He whispered fondly.
Ok, this is the Jay/Cole bit. Sorry it took so long.
{Sneak peak two: Broken.} “I, really don’t deserve to go with you.” “Nonsense dear, you look beautiful.” She smiled and pinned my hair back. Courtney inhaled sharply as I turned to face her and Alice. “See sweetie, I told you she was a princess.” Alice smiled at me with her shining white teeth. Courtney giggled and ran to give me a hug. “Now honey. What do you think.” Mrs. Harle pulled the fabric off the mirror. I merely stood there, and stared at this girl, who wasn’t me.
So I'm going to go on hiatus for a bit. (Sorry!) But I rlly need to start writing MOAR of Broken. Idk when I'll be back, but I'll keep you guys updated.
