So this is my own original story from the old MBs, and so yah, enjoy!!!
Darkness, that's all I could see... then a voice. "Come with us," it ordered. "Or else we'll have to take this baby to you again." The man briefly shone a flashlight on the weapon he wielded... a leather whip. I shuddered, and obeyed meekly... I felt abused, and terrible, why are the Ninja never there when you need it?
"Eat my dust!" A strong, male voice called. "Should we cool off the hot-head?" A higher voice asked. "I got it!" A female voice said, just as a powerful stream of water shot out from her hand, aimed directly at another one of them. "Hey!" The boy called as he got drenched in ice-cold water. "Guys, we're trying to help, stay on subject." A voice that sounded strong, yet young, took the lead. "By P.I.X.A.L.'s calculations, we should be arriving at Stixx soon." A robotic voice answered the lead of the young one. "I wonder why Ronin called us out there..." The girl said thoughtfully. "No reason good," The first one said. "Backstabber." He added. "Let's just keep our eye on the prize." The one that had just gotten drenched sighed. "Easy for you to say..." The second boy retorted.
"Hurry it up prisoner!" The guard shoved me harshly. I sighed, and obeyed. "So where are we going?" I asked almost silently, I suddenly found my voice nothing but a squeak. "To see the boss. Or else." The guard muttered. "Who is this boss?" I asked, I still felt very weak, and as the second guard brought his whip down on my back, I fell to the floor in pain. "Get up." He demanded pulling me to my feet, I stood up shakily. "And don't ask any more questions." He ordered, I meekly obeyed. After walking for what seemed like hours on my shaky legs, we reached a door. The first guard unlocked it. And the second shoved me in. I stumbled to the floor, and just sat there. Then a voice said my name. "Maria." It whispered. "Who-who're you?" I stuttered. "Your captor." It answered. "Why did you kidnap me?" I was confused, me, just an orphan girl from the village of Stixx.
"Alright Ronin! Explain or you're going into the water." The girl yelled to a man who stood with a smirk on his face. "Woah Nya." The second boy called as he grabbed her sleeve. "Why did you call us here?" The first boy asked as the second held Nya back. "I need some help." Ronin muttered "Yeah right." Nya scoffed. "Last time we 'helped' you, we ended up getting backstabbed by you!" "What do you want Ronin?" Cole asked. "A second chance..." Ronin sighed. "What does that mean?" The boy who was still wet asked. "I made a mistake Kai, and need help to fix it..." Ronin looked out beyond the mountains that lay in the distance. "There's this village girl, no one knows where she came from. Or even who she is. Well one day she came into my shop, asking for matches. I gave them to her, and she dropped a few coins on the counter. I shoved them away saying it was free. But she insisted. The next day she came back, and just talked... I was the first and only person who had been nice to her. Her name was Maria, she was an orphan girl from the village of Valencia. No one had ever really spoken to her but me. Before she left that day, I went into my back room to get several cans of food for her. She gladly accepted them. And before she could pay, I said they were free. She left... And from then on I've been giving her food and anything else she needed. I offered her a home once, but she declined." "What does this have to do with any of us?" Kai asked. "Two days ago she vanished. She comes into my shop every day. I'm worried about her, she's only fourteen..." Ronin paused before going on. "That's where you guys come in. I want you to find her." Ronin looked at all of them, then landed his eyes on the young one. "How do we know this isn't a trap?" He asked. "I can't tell you it isn't, because I don't know if it's not, but I'm not placing you in a trap." Ronin answered. "Alright, we'll believe you." Cole sighed. "For now." He added.
"Patience my dear." It whispered, then footsteps. And something brushed against my side. I felt my hair moving, like someone pulling on it. Gently though, nothing harsh. "Well then who are you?" I asked. I moved to a different part of the room. Trying to get away from him. "Someone who knows about your past." He answered. "And just what do you know?" I asked defiantly. "Who your parents were." He whispered. I knew he was somewhere in the inky blackness, but where? "Mom, Dad." I said to myself. "Do you want to know who they were?" He purred. I stopped myself from saying yes. How could I have forgotten this jerk kidnapped me. "No." I answered firmly. "Suit yourself. Guards, take her away." He said. I heard him walking away, then nothing. "Is anyone there?" I asked aloud, afraid I wasn't there anymore. Blackness, that's all that answered me. Then a hand grabbed my arm. And I had barely started to scream when another was clapped over my mouth. The last thing I remember was being dragged out of the room. Then it's all fuzzy...
"Where do you think she is Ronin?" The second boy asked. Releasing his grip on Nya for the first time. "I wish I knew Jay." Ronin sighed. "Searched all over Stixx last night, and when I couldn't find her, I called you guys..." He looked more beaten up than usual. His scraggly beard hadn't been shaved in quite awhile. Dark circles had formed under his eyes. And the armor he normally wore, lay in a pile inside the door of his shop. "So we're going off of you saying there's some little girl missing, and you have no idea where to find her?" Jay asked. "I still don't trust you fully Ronin! After all, you sent us to jai-" Jay was cut off by Nya slapping a hand over his mouth. "Yeah Ronin, you sent us to jail in that game we were playing." Nya smiled awkwardly. The others just gave her strange looks, but said nothing. "Anyways." Cole spoke up finally. "Where does she live?" He asked. "I, don't, know." Ronin said slowly. "Of course you don't." Jay muttered… "Hey! like I said, she's a mystery to most." Ronin defended himself. "Oh forget it, Ronin, we'll try and find her, in fact I will personally do an overhead sweep for her. But we're busy right now.." Nya sighed. "Doing what? Taking interviews and going to hospitals?" Ronin asked coldly. "Goodbye Ronin." Nya called as she and the others formed their dragons. "If you don't help, then I'll find her on my own." Ronin muttered, he quickly slipped his armor on a called for R.E.X. The airship then appeared in the air. And Ronin grabbed hold of the swinging ladder, then pulled himself into the airship.
I woke up feeling worse then I did before, my throat felt like fire, my muscles were stiff, and my arms and legs felt as if they had been stretched until they would pop out of their sockets. "Are you awake now?" A deep voice asked. "No, just sleep walking." I sighed. Suddenly I heard chains rattling, then I felt something brush against my side. I stifled a scream. "Who are you?" I asked. "I'm a prisoner, just like you." He answered. "Where are we?" I asked. "Nowhere good." He sighed. "Tell me though, how does a nice girl like you, end up here?" "I can't tell you why that man brought me here. And worse I don't know who he is." I tried to stand up, but for the first time realized five chains were attached to my body, two each on my arms and legs, and one around my neck. I fell back down. "Are you alright?" He asked. "If you mean I feel worse then when I had the flu for three months, then yes." I sighed. "What's your name by the way?" I asked. "Call me Zed." He said. "I'm Maria." I smiled, though I knew Zed couldn't see me in the cloak of darkness that surrounded me. "Here they come, stay still, and don't talk." Zed said. I heard footsteps. A loud clanking. Then a light was shown in my face. "She's awake." The man called to someone who stood beyond the flashlight's circle of light. My mind started to race. Then blackness. Voices. Voices. Lights. Voices...
When I woke, I found myself no longer bound to the wall. I was no longer with Zed either. My throat longed for a glass of water. I found myself alone, in a chair, in a room. I could finally see though. The room for once was illuminated. No door was visible. I slowly stood up, and moved around the cluttered room. There were some chemicals on a shelf. Several hand weapons were on higher shelves, and I got the idea I wasn't supposed to be here. Voices. I ran quickly, and hid behind some crates A man wearing a white lab coat, and black gloves walked in. He spoke softly.. "Maria, where are you?" He asked moving about the room.My heart skipped a beat when he came towards the crate I was hidden behind. A smile formed on his lips as he caught sight of me. "There you are my dear." He purred. "What do you want with me?" I asked, terrified. "Just come with me." He lifted me up like a bag of rice, and sat me in a chair. Then two metal bands snapped over my wrists. He grabbed a few chemicals from that shelf, and something else from a cabinet. He laid everything on a table, and began mixing the chemicals until they formed a blue liquid. "Now just hold still my dear, or else we'll have to use some of that knock-out powder on you again." He grinned, and I saw he was carrying a needle filled with that blue liquid, probably poison... Every muscle in my body tensed, and I frantically searched for an escape, but to no avail...
"What're you going to do to me?" I asked. "Just inject this into you." He replied bringing the needle closer. "What is it?" I stalled desperately. "You'll find out soon enough, but first." He smiled and poured a powder on me from a small container. "Sweet dreams." He grinned, and my vision quickly became blurry. The last thing I remember was that terrible grin. "Maria! Maria! Wake up!" A familiar voice called. I opened my eyes to find darkness again. "Zed?" I whispered. "Are you alright?" He asked. I looked down at my arm, I knew he had put the needle there. Was I alright? "Maria? You still there?" Zed asked. "Yeah, just lost in thought." I sighed brushing a strand of my dark brown hair out of my face. "So, where'd they take you?" I felt Zed moving closer to me. "Some room, like a laboratory... And this doctor came in, and well..." I debated whether or not to tell him about the poison. "And what?" Zed asked. "The doctor injected something into me, I think it was some sort of poison. But nothing's happened so far." I let my head hang low, and my hair drooped down with it. "Nothing's hurting? You don't feel sick? Or anything else?" Zed took my wrist. And I knew he was feeling my pulse. "No, oddly enough." I tried to see what Zed looked like, but all I could see was the inky blackness around me.
"Hey Ronin! How's the pawnshop business going?" Someone called to Ronin as he passed their house. "Right now, not good, I'm not even there!" Ronin smiled slightly and kept walking. "Hey, have you seen Maria lately?" He asked stopping. "Last time I saw her was leaving your shop, it was... 'bout a week ago. Why?" He asked. "She's missing, and I'm worried about the kid, anyways, thanks." Ronin sighed. He treaded slowly back to R.E.X. That was the last village Maria would have gone to on purpose. He would have to search outside the small community of villages. But where would a fourteen year old girl go? Or maybe it was where someone had taken her. Either way, he was going to find her.
"So why are you here Zed?" I asked. "I made a mistake, thought I was invincible." Zed sighed. "Sounds like one of my friends." I smiled slightly remembering Ronin's kindness towards me. And how he often told me of his regrets. "What's his name?" Zed asked. "Ronin, he's known as the local thief in Stixx." I sighed. "But he's my only friend, and I myself used to steal." I said. "I recognize the name, can't say that I know him though." Zed smiled. "Many know him, or know of him. But few are his friends." I said. "I understand. I'm not exactly loved by my village either..." Zed sighed. "Where do you live Zed?" I asked. "I used to live in Tarre. But I haven't been there in a decade... My Dad kicked me out, along with my little Sister. I stayed with her at first because she was so little, but then.." Zed stopped. "Then what." This was the most I had gotten out of Zed. I wasn't abandoning it now... "It was two years after we left. She went missing one day. Every single day for the past year, I had been searching for a job. When I got back to our camp, she was gone. And that was the last I saw of her..." Zed sighed and put his head in his hands. "What was her name?" I found myself asking. "Caren." He answered. "What did she look like?" I kept probing. "She had beautiful golden hair. Shimmering hazel eyes. And she always wore an old beaten up dress she had brought from home." He said. "How old would she be now?" I asked. "Almost fifteen, she would have turned fifteen next week." Zed answered. "Have you any idea what happened to her?" "All I know, is I might have seen her about four years ago." There was a long pause. "What time is it?" I found myself breaking the silence. "It's a little after six, they'll bring our supper soon." Zed explained. "Until then, tell me about your parents." He added. "I can't say much, they both died when I was little. My Mother was poisoned, my Dad, killed in a car wreck." I sighed. "I had no one to look after me except my brother. Then one day, he disappeared. I was old enough to care for myself by then, and honestly. I think he ditched me." I smiled slightly, though those memories hurt worse than a dagger. "What was your brother's name?" I heard Zed ask. "Zach, but I used to have my own nickname for him, let's just say it began with an 'S', and ended with a 'Y'." I said. "Wasn't Sissy was it?" Zed asked half joking half not. "Yeah, it was... How did you know?" I sounded confused. "That's what, my, little, sister, used to, call, me." Zed strung his words out slowly. "Zach?" I heard myself ask. "Caren?" Zed asked. "How long has it been?" Zed asked. Visions of my Brother's brown hair, and green eyes flashed through my head. "How could it be? After all these years?" My head was spinning trying to figure everything out. "Maybe we aren't siblings ." Zed said. "I mean, your name's Maria..." "Actually, it's Caren. I changed my name because I wanted to forget. Forget everything, and everyone who had ever hurt me." I sighed. "But why do we have two different stories?" I asked. "There's a truth between the two of them..." Zed sighed. "I told you that Mom and Dad had passed. It was better than telling you they had kicked us out. But I did abandon you. But I told myself you had run away, when in reality. I left for a month.. Came back. And you were gone.." Zed explained. "So, you forced me to leave?" I asked. "Yeah, but I forced myself to believe you left. To hide myself from the person I was becoming." Zed sighed. "Oh Zach." I whispered. "Remember, I'm not exactly proud of who I am either." I smiled slightly. "By the way, what do you look like now?" Zed asked. "I have brown hair, I have hazel eyes, and I'm terribly skinny. And I wear jeans and a jacket most days." I said. "What do you look like?" "Brown messy hair, blue eyes, and I always wear a green shirt, and tattered jeans." Zed answered. "Just the same as always." I smiled as a warm feeling entered my heart. Only to have it replaced by pure fear. I suddenly couldn't breathe. I felt my throat closing up. "Zed." I stuttered. "What's wrong?" He was by my side immediately.
Hi guys. so I'ma be starting this up again. I've finished this whole book for the most part. (It's just posting it...) And Book two: How long ago, will be going up shortly after I finish posting this. In the mean time however, I will give you short peaks at tid bits of it. I hope you all enjoy!
"C'mon R.E.X. It's only a little ways further until Tarre." Ronin whispered. In response, the airship sped up.
"Go away stranger." A farmer said gruffly as Ronin stepped down.
"I'm searching for a girl, she's been missing two days." Ronin said.
"Big whoop." The farmer rolled his eyes. "Now, I asked you politely to leave. Please do that."
"R.E.X. Be on guard." Ronin said. In response the airship aimed its guns at the man.
"Now, tell me." Ronin said walking forward slowly. "Have you seen a brown haired, green eyed, skinny little fourteen year old?"
"N-no sir." The farmer stuttered.
"Then I would suggest you move along. Or else R.E.X. won't play nice." Ronin smiled slightly.
The farmer nodded. Then walked away without looking back.
Ronin sighed and stalked back to R.E.X. slowly.
"Maria! Wake up!" I yelled. Fear grasped at me.
Nothing...
"Maria!" I called again. Everything had been going fine, but then... I shuddered slightly. Then I realized I could only hear my heavy breathing. Was she, dead? My heart skipped a beat. I bent down slowly. "I can't believe I'm about to do this." I whispered. I placed my lips onto hers. Then started giving mouth-to-mouth.
After a few minutes. I felt her chest rise up, then deflate back down...
"She's breathing now at least. " I let out a sigh of relief. "But she's still unconscious." I added to myself.
"Food prisoners." The guards gruff voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"I don't want any. And neither does Maria!" I said.
"Suit yourself." I heard footsteps. Then nothing.
"Did the poison work?"
"Yes master. I couldn't see, nor hear any sign of the girl."
"Good. Wait until tomorrow until we start..."
"Yes master."
I'll be trying to update regularly. And hopfully I can get to the end on this book fairly quickly...
