so im a long time fan of ninjago but I do have some major concerns for the Lego Ninjago movie.
Let's start off with my big issue. Mainly, it has no target audience. There aren't much people who have heard of ninjago and occasionally watch it but aren't big fans, it's fairly black and white, and even then, there isn't a whole heck of a lot of Lego Ninjago fans in general, especially when compared to batman or Lego in general, so you'd expect this to be for the fans of the series, but it's not... I honestly found little resemblance to the characters from the movie and the characters from the TV show and sets, other than name and sometimes appearance. Which brings me to my next issue...
It isn't ninjago. The characters look and talk very different, you can't tell when it happens, it doesn't really reference the lore from what we've seen, and there doesn't feel to be any big ninjago like aspects. I get having differences in movies and the canon, it has to happen. But when you have a specific target audience and it's looking like your producers haven't watched the show at least in 2 years, you might have a problem.
So in conclusion, I just cant see the Lego Ninjago movie getting lots of revenue. I think it will be a good stand alone movie but it has these major flaws which make the concept only wanted by fans, which are few and far between compared to the massive fan bases of batman and Lego in general, and that isn't getting to the ones who don't plan on seeing it.
So what do you guys think? Do you agree? Disagree? Comment down below and you can share your opinion on the upcoming movie.
In my opinion, the LEGO Ninjago Movie is going to be good. That being said, it's not going to be like the Ninjago TV show, which is good in its own right. You HAVE TO accept them as separate so that you can appreciate both.

This isn't really an issue. The target audience is LEGO Movie fans, families, and Ninjago fans. And plus, not all Ninjago fans are teen Ninjago fans. While there might be some fanservice for us here or there, it also has to appeal to younger fans.
The thing is, we haven't really seen much. You can't judge a movie from a single trailer. We're talking 100+ minutes of film being teased by roughly 2 and 1/2 minutes. And I think the purpose of the trailer was mostly to introduce these versions of the characters, not really go deep into the lore.

The Ninjago movie is definitely not the Ninjago we're used to. I've just decided to call it an AU of sorts. But it's definitely different. The thing with the Ninjago movie is, you can't go into it expecting Ninjago the TV series. You have to look at it along the lines of The LEGO Movie. Yeah, it's got the characters from Ninjago, kind of, but it's more light-hearted and made for comedy. It's not going to be the Ninjago we know.
Do I think it's going to be hilarious? Yes. Will I enjoy it? I hope so. But I don't expect it to be anything like the TV series.
That's gonna make or break it for us main series fans, I fear-- are we going to be able to put enough separation between the movie and the TV series in our own minds to reconcile their differences?

Exactly. Expecting the LEGO Ninjago Movie to be very similar to Ninjago is like expecting the LEGO Batman movie to be very similar to Batman: The Animated Series. They're going to change things, and that's okay. It's seperate from the show, so we can enjoy it as such.

I agree! Although the ninja better have spinjitzu, or I'll flip.
1. So? I highly doubt any of the children who watched Teen Titans Go have ever heard of the original Teen Titans. Despite that, the show turned out to be surprisingly popular.
2. Earlier, you said that the Ninjago fanbase was hardly all that large. So why would failing to appeal to the Ninjago fanbase damage revenue?
3. "Specific target audience"? What do you mean? Just putting the name "Ninjago" on the movie does not mean it's just for Ninjago fans. You said earlier that the people watching have probably never heard of Ninjago. Wouldn't they just accept it as an original movie?
I, myself, don't care for the movie, but not for the same reasons as you.

You're correct; this isn't Ninjago. This is a completely non-related spin-off movie which will not affect the show. I'd like to mention this was co-written by the writers who wrote the show from the pilots to Season 6, as well as the upcoming Season 8, and The Lego Movie. This is not a part of the show, and I'll enjoy the movie without thinking of show.

I agree dude. I know it has nothing to do but let's be thankful they made us a movie about our favorite show. So keep loving ninjago and be happy
