I've only played the 3ds as well. What was your favorite world? I liked Frozen Factory and Sky Road.
...I've only played the Wii U version
The level design was superb on that version as well. Ironically though, my favorite level is the one where your blasting ahead at full speed '06 style down the giant beehive/tree thing. It was a nice break from the careful platforming without distracting too much from the game's core mechanics.
Well, I'm about to play a game I've never played tomorrow. That's right, I never played Generations. (I've wanted to for some time, though.) I just bought it on my 3ds, and will play tomorrow! *Begins blasting Aquarium Park Act 1 theme.*
Ah. Enjoy the journey!
Try out the console version too tho if you get a chance. Has the levels most people talk about when they talk about Generations.
*Climbs back into topic.* I'm still playing it. Beat the game a while back now, but I'm having to much fun speedrunning through Tropical Resort.

Oh.
I did think Lost World was a severely underrated game, but it seems to be improving in retrospection views these days. Those sorts of levels are quite enjoyable, when properly spaced out.
1. Popularity: Let's face it. The Sonic fanbase, myself included, thinks Shadow's great, possibly the #1 character as far as fanbase approval goes. Character popularity has been a large factor for Ultimate's newcomers, unless you like Waluigi. (WAAAA.) However, I think Shadow's fanbase is stronger than several characters that are already in as newcomers. I think Shadow has a bigger fanbase than Inkling. K. Rool. Isabelle. Both Belmonts. Chrom. Dark Samus. Daisy. The only one who I think could be even with the Ultimate Life form in this form is Metroid villain Ridley, whom fans have been begging for for years upon years, so that doesn't matter much.
2. Moveset: Forget Echo fighter! While I would be pleased with that, Shadow's different enough to not be one. Chaos abilities make all the difference! Shadow can teleport all the time, and we mustn't forget those powerful things called CHAOS SPEARS. Chaos Blast could also be used, as a Final Smash, or Smash Attacks. For other Final Smash candidates, we obviously have Super Shadow, and for a cinematic doomsday, look no further than the Eclipse Cannon. Ridley's Plasma attack pales in comparison to that piece of technology.
3. 3rd Party Limit is Out the Door, Assist Trophy Questioning: We all thought 3rd party franchises had only 1 character. Castlevania ended that game when two Belmonts were announced for the game. Furthermore, Knuckles has been spotted as an Assist Trophy, Shadow's is still nowhere to be seen. Similar to what happened with Dark Samus and Isabelle, isn't it?
I might add more later, but character limits and time crunches happen. In the mean time, these are some reasons why I think the Ultimate Life Form could (And should.) be in Smash. Just remember that we don't have time to play games with this. Less than 2 months to go.
*Watches Nintendo Direct*
...
KUSOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
...Pardon my Japanese.
I'm still a bit disappointed, but I guess I'll be alright.
And it did take 3 Supers to take him down that one time, as well as support from 9 other characters. I think you're right, now that I stop and think about it.
If you think about it though, Metal Sonic and every other Super Sonic boss to date has lacked an ability that Super-characters do have: complete invincibility.
As long as they can continue to find rings, Sonic, Shadow, Silver, Knuckles, etc. can maintain a state of unending invincibility. Thus making their power scale infinitely.
That's also a good point. That said, Metal was immune to all attacks from a single user. It took the combo of all 3 supers to damage him, at least.

By that same token however, super shadow could take that same attack and survive against it assuming all supers in the fight had the same ring count.
3 supers working in tandem also need to spend time charging their teamwork gauge up in order to perform such an attack too.

Time for more Sonic related Smash Fun. HA.
Right, I'm going to list all the Sonic spirits confirmed, their known rankings, and all that stuff. List the characters I feel should get in as well!
Primary Spirits: Chao: 1 Star (Novice) Thoughts: We all know Chao are among the best little critters in the series, so no surprise here. As for the rank, it's just one Chao, and they aren't that tough, unless it's the one with the red bow-tie that belongs to a certain rabbit. (How does he punch through SPIKES!?)
Chaos 0: 2 Star (Advanced) Thoughts: Glad to see Chaos appear. If it weren't for the fact that it was Chaos 0, I would say the rank should be higher, but, I guess I can understand the rank.
Infinite: 2 Star (Advanced) Thoughts: I never thought Infinite was as tough as they tried to make him look. Obliterated Sonic in round one. Big deal. That's happened before. Fights without clones, and he gets taken out by Normal Sonic and a Rookie. He deserves no more than 2 stars.
Knuckles: 3 Star (Ace) Thoughts: Good, he's a 3 star. That sounds perfect. Well done, Sakurai.
Metal Sonic: Rank Unknown Thoughts: He should be 3 star. That said, I'm just pleased to see him in there.
Shadow: 3 Star (Ace) Thoughts: Well, Shadow's certainly tough, and there aren't that many 3 stars, so this is really good.
Super Sonic: 4 Star (Legend) Thoughts: OF COURSE he's Legend!!! Super Sonic's great!
Those are all confirmed primaries for now. I'll do secondaries next. TBC

Support Spirits:
Amy Rose: 3 Stars (Ace) Thoughts: Wait, she's 3? That almost feels a bit high. She's no Knuckles or Shadow. That said, she's still a strong character. I just hope the spirit battle is with a Hammer character.
Blaze the Cat: 2 Stars (Advanced) Thoughts: Well, now we know that Amy is stronger than Blaze. Maybe. I honestly expected Blaze to be higher. Oh well.
Rouge the Bat: 2 Stars (Advanced) Thoughts: Yeah, I can see this one. She's decently strong, but not Shadow AND KNUCKLES tier.
Miles "Tails" Prower: 3 Stars (Ace) Thoughts: I feel that this is a perfect placement for Tails. Good move.
Unclassified Spirits: Big the Cat: Unknown Level: Thoughts: He'll obviously be a Legend. That fishing line is OP.
Dr. Eggman: Unknown Level: Thoughts: Who knows where he'll be, but I doubt he'll be low.
Silver the Hedgehog: 2 Stars (Advanced.) Thoughts: Same as Blaze.
Team Chaotix: Unknown Level: Thoughts: YES! They made it in! I'm very happy with this one. The spirit battle should be... Wait. It's going to be a 3 on 1, isn't it... *Screams*
That's it.
Characters I think will be in: (And why)
Cream the Rabbit: Why: Cream has had a trophy in every Smash game since Sonic was in the series. Why drop her now? She also has a good Nintendo past, and is likely the most important character in the series not yet confirmed as a spirit.
E-123 Omega: After Cream, Omega is next most important in the series by a landslide, major enough to easily score a spot. He also has a history as a trophy in Smash, so I'd say the chances are high.
Jet the Hawk: With Cream and Omega done, that's all the major mainstreams. Jet the Hawk is likely the top spin-off character, and has 2 Smash trophy appearances. Why not put him in now?
Zavok: He recently had a major role in Forces, as well as a trophy on the Wii U. I won't say it's as likely as the other 3, but I'd say there's a chance.
MAYBE: These characters are not what I'd call absolutely making it in, but maybe, as there may be more Spirits than we think: Tikal Wave Storm Emerl Marine Chip Werehog (Not a character, I know.)
I'm done here. Feel free to comment on whatever you want!
