I just saw this on Tumblr, from Twitter (as far as I understand, posting this is within the rules-- if not, I apologize!)
REMEMBER THAT TIME TRAVEL PLOTS CAN ALLOW TWO VERSIONS OF THE SAME CHARACTER TO EXIST SIMULTANEOUSLY Holy cannoli guys, holy flipping cannoli! This is either a massive red herring... or an incredibly unsubtle clue! Think about it-- Skylor being the new Samurai X makes PERFECT sense if you account for the fact that time travel is now the reality, meaning that characters can literally be in multiple places at the same time! Nya herself said it in the noodle shop-- "It has to be you! Everything fits-- the skills, the different fighting styles, the voices!" It DOES make perfect sense-- and time travel would make it possible! Furthermore, Skylor didn't seem happy with Nya's assessment of her job-- "Gee, when you put it like that...", and later, when Kai and Nya were ready to move out, she excitedly jumped up and started "Guys-- if you need any--" at which point Nya cut her off. But that's pretty doggone stinking blatant that she was going to say "help"! She wanted to come with them, but they didn't give her that chance. Also, earlier on, Nya mentioned her theory about Skylor being Samurai X right in front of her! If we're assuming that Skylor becomes Samurai X in the future, then it's very possible that Nya was the one to give her the idea to begin with! She did say "Does that mean I get that cool armor?", which does seem to show some interest... Heck, it could even be PAST Skylor for all we know! She seemed much more amused than surprised by Nya's guess-- which WOULD make sense if she WAS, but had used time travel to get away... Also, while this post could have been a red herring, Samurai X did mention needing to protect the identity of her friends. And that would make perfect sense if she was in fact a time traveler...
I think the biggest thing that makes me wonder, though, is how painfully obvious the writers made it that Skylor isn't content with just sitting around and running a noodle shop. She's ready to get back in the fight-- they made that much obvious. And a good writer won't make a big deal out of something unless it becomes important later.
I thought I was stretching it with this theory-- but this post has given me a lot more confidence in it. In any case, I'm super excited for the next season-- because Tommy Andreasen also gave confirmation that we WILL find out next season. I'm not sure if I've ever been more hyped for a new season now... I'm so stoked!
(also, sorry for the double-post-- I didn't see anything prohibiting it in the rules and it won't let me edit my old post, sooooo XD)

That's great and all, but how would Skylor be able to time travel?
If anything, this fits my theory that it's PIXAL, because she, being an android, would be able to locate temporal rifts and therefore locate the time blades if they appear at any other point in time. And it's also another possible explanation for PIXAL being in Zane's head and the Samurai Armor at the same time.

And it's also another possible explanation for PIXAL being in Zane's head and the Samurai Armor at the same time.

And it's also another possible explanation for PIXAL being in Zane's head and the Samurai Armor at the same time.
Alright, lemme rank the theories I've seen and add my thoughts.
1. P.I.X.A.L.- This is honestly way too obvious. There is TONs of evidence to support this.
Firstly: PIXAL goes missing around the same time the Samurai appears. She also goes missing in the Samurai X Cave.
Secondly: It is implied in Episode 73 that one of the Samurai's biggest missions is to save Cyrus Borg. After all, that was the main reason the Samurai came to the swamp. Earlier in the season, PIXAL constantly encourages Zane to save Cyrus Borg, saying it is essential. It would be a strange conincidence for two different characters to have the same motivation- especially considering Zane and PIXAL are the only characters especially close to Borg.
Thirdly: In episode 74, when time is changed and Zane is shut down, the Samurai is notably absent. Since that change eliminated technology from Ninjago's present, this all but proves that the Samurai is a piece of technology. PIXAL is one of only two characters on this list that are technologicsl, so this is a pretty big hint toward it being her. It is possible, however, that the lack of technology simply changed the circumstancesso that the Samurai never had reason to go to the swamp. If that were true, though, Borg would have no reason to go to the swamp either since he never would have invented technology. So it's pretty likely that the Samurai is a piece of technology.
Finally: The Samurai knows the code inside every Nindroid. What bigger hint that it's a robot?
Honestly, it's so obvious that it could be a red herring though. Additionally, I don't know how knowing her identity would put any of her friends in danger...
2. Skylor: Honestly, JayZX said everything. Read her post. I have nothing to add.
3. Dareth: Dareth? The Incompetant Ninja? Number Three? Let me explain myself. Dareth isn't seen in Hands of Time after the Samurai shows up. No problem with the characters being in the same place at the same time. He appears to be a big fan of Borg, which explains his desire to save him. In addition, it's hinted in episodes 26, 41, and especially 63 that there's more to him than meets the eye. It's very possible he could be training in secret and hiding it from the Ninja. In addition, it's possible he has important friends who trained him- maybe one of the skilled fighters from the factory like Ash or Griffin? Revealing his identity would raise tons of questions, some of which could put others in danger. There's nothing I can think of to explain why he was absent when the timeline changed in episode 74 though.
4. Future Zane: This is one I thought of myself. At first it seemed obsurd, but the more I think about it, the more likely it seems. Though Zane doesn't actively change his voice, Posession shows he has the potential. This would line up with the Samurai's voice-changing abilities. Why would he care about Borg so much? Well, remember, some of PIXAL's last words were telling him to save Borg. After Present Zane sort-of failed at that, it's possible Future Zane made it his mission to succeed. PIXAL may have been gone forever. He would have known what would have happened in the version of HoT without the Samurai (Lloyd falling off his dragon to his doom, etc.) and made sure to prevent such thing from actually happening. In addition, the fact that he disappeared in episode 74 and knew the Nindroid Code in episode 73 would make sense too, since Zane was a Nindroid whose new body was manufactured at Borg Industries. How might he have gone back in time? Well, Future Kai and Future Nya could have gotten the Reverse Blade from the Boiling Sea, and the Iron Doom could have arrived with the other blades. After all, the original HoT ending was Wu arriving 40 years in the future!
5. Future Wu: This would make sense in some ways- Tommy hinted that it may be a character from a different time period, and it's very possible Wu was able to collect the future reversal blade and go back to the past in order to stop the Time Twins from ever collecting the blades. Although there's so much to refute this. Why didn't he stop himself from fighting Acronix alone? Why did he disappear in 74? Why did he care so much about Cyrus Borg?
6: Ronin: Sure, Ronin was absent from the second half of the season and is great with technology. But he was only absent because of his broken leg, and itms implied that the Samurai is a robot. There's honestly so much to rebut this.
7: Echo Zane: Sure, he's a robot, but he's never met Cyrus Borg and wouldn't have any reason to care so much. Also, even though he knows about the Ninja from The Last Voyage, he doesn't remember Skybound and would honestly have no reason to visit Ninjago.
8: Misako: Misako and the Samurai are literally both at the same place in Episode 70. Sure, it could be Misako from another time period, but I doubt it.
9: Garmadon: Eh, he's gone and will probably stay gone. The reasoning is pretty much the same as the three above him.
Overall, PIXAL has the most evidence to back her up but I hope it's Skylor.

Highly unlikely, considering she's now fully committed to being the water ninja, and two versions of the same character existing at the same time just makes things confusing.

My theory about PIXAL is correct, so we can all go home now.

Everyone, we do have an official image of Klow vs Samurai X. If you look closely at Samurai X, you can see that he/she does not have Pixal's face. Nothing has been confirmed.
