emeraldeddie , could you explain travel rules and the galactic map? I can't explain them very well.
As for business owners, NPCs should do just fine.
Good idea. If you choose to take over as business owner you may do so, but having NPC CEOs will work just fine. However, if you own the planet the company is on, you still get the discounts and income of owning the company.
You can generate as many troops as you want on any planet you own. However, they come with only the clothes on their backs: no weapons, no armor, and no skills. You must purchase weapons and armor, as well as train them to be an effective fighting force.
So you can have as big of an army as you want, but it will cost you to equip them. Blaster rifles aren't cheap.
Let's use Stormtroopers as an example. How much do they cost to equip? Armor, blasters and training?
Training is free, but it takes longer to train commandos. Normal soldiers take 4 days to train, and Commandos take 10.
Simply add up the cost of the required equipment. An E-11 rifle is 1,000 credits and stormtrooper armor is 2,500. Therefore, stormtroopers cost 3,500 credits apiece and take 4 days to train. This cost is modified if you wish to equip them with different equipment. (Like a DLT-19 rifle or a Jetpack)
Wonderful job. I actually have a list of planets from the old SWOS RP given to me by one of the old RPers. There's 40-some planets in that list, and we could add more if we wanted too.
Also, all Legends material from before ROTJ is allowed in this RP. This means that you can use TIE Hunters, TIE Aggressors, TIE Punishers, etc.
Awesome. Which do we post first?
All of them. I'll post the old list soon, and we can figure out which new planets we will add.

Yikes. That's... Pricey. How many do we start with again?

You begin the RP with 1 billion credits in your treasury and 500 million to spend on your starting army.

Sure thing.
The SW galalxy is divided into several regions, such as the Core, Outer Rim, etc. For RP purposes, we've organized them into the Core, the Mid Rim, and the Outer Rim. The latter two have further been divided into four different sectors. So, on a map, it looks like this:
(Note: Ignore the planets, those were just part of the map I used. Just pay attention to the red lines).
Now, the reason we had this was for travel. For example, Endor is in sector 4O. If I have ships there, I could then jump to any planet in an adjacent sector. By adjacent, I mean sharing a border, not just a corner. So 4O is adjacent to 1O, 4M, and 3O, but not 1M or 3M.
To travel between sectors takes one day (travel between same-sector planets is instantaneous). So if I make a post at Endor saying that my ships jump for Sullust (in 3O), then the next day I can make a post at Sullust saying they arrive. If I want to go from Endor to, say, Nal Hutta (2O), then it would take a few days. This is because I would have to go through the sectors in between. So on the first day, I would leave Endor. The next day, I would arrive at Sullust. The next day, I'd leave Sullust. Then, the next day, I could arrive at Nal Hutta. Alternately, I could chose to go through a planet in 1O instead of 3O. Or I could chose to go through the Mid Rim, but that would take longer.
Now, travel here usually doesn't take that long; it's rarely longer than in the above example. However, stopping at planets can be hazardous. For example, using the above example, Sullust may be held by an enemy. So when my ships stop there, (s)he's not likely to be happy about it. Chances are, my ships will be halted, attacked, etc. So be careful when choosing your route!
To summarize:
- Interplanetary travel is dictated by sectors, as demonstrated in the above map. - Ships take one day to travel between adjacent sectors. - To travel between non-adjacent sectors takes longer, as you must stop at a planet in the sector(s) in between.
Hope that all makes sense!
The day of prosperity makes one forget adversity; The day of adversity makes one forget prosperity.
