The villains for the movie should have been actual mutant sea creatures. Humans dressed in shark costumes is something I think is a very silly idea that really keeps me from seeing this movie.
Wow, we need to create a thread about ideas for future Ninjago waves.
I think the reason they aren't actually mutant sea creatures is because those kinds of enemies had already been done in the "LEGO Atlantis" theme. Another reason could be that the general audience of moviegoers who don't know LEGO lore might have thought mutant sea creature people are a "Pirates of the Caribbean" ripoff.
LEGO could try to make aquatic villains very different from Atlantis with new designs and more technology. Also, I think that Pirates of the Caribbean only has mermaids, so nobody will think it's too familiar.

Yeah, when I first saw that trailer my reaction was a bit like; "o.O . . ." ". . ." ". . . Well, OK, then. That was interesting." (Then I got used to the idea and accepted it.)
Ooh, yeah! Someone should totally post that. I'd join in.
I've posted the thread now. It's called Ideas for Future Ninjago Waves. Enjoy!

Well I was actually referring to the mutant human-sea creature hybrid pirates from the 2nd and 3rd Pirates movie.

But we don't have pirates, and our idea for mutant sea creatures involves more advanced technology.

I wasn't talking about the idea, I meant that, if mutant sea creatures were in the movie, the general audience might have thought it's a ripoff.
Unless they have major differences like not being pirates and having advanced technology.
But now that I think about, neither humans in sea life costumes or actual sea life mutants would have made sense in The LEGO Ninjago Movie. There is no reason to have an aquatic theme at all if the movie takes place on land. Now we can leave this to rest.

Having seen the movie, I think it would've made more sense if the enemies were volcano/lava themed.

Maybe they could have been an evil ninja team trained by Garmadon. Maybe he could have set up his own secret school of ninja training, corrupting his students and making them into an army to take over Ninjago.
Oh bricks, not again. We should move this discussion over to Ideas for Future Ninjago Waves.
Hm this is an old topic but I'll share my thoughts.
I really disliked this season, I thought it was very bad. Now to be fair I've thought the same thing about Rebooted and Possession, and in the case of Possession my opinions have changed drastically, it went from being one of my least favorite seasons to one of my favorites. But I doubt that'll be happening with Season 7, and here's some of the reasons why, in no particular order...
1. Animation: The animation just did not look as good in this season. Zane wasn't as shiny as he usually is, everything seemed darker then it usually is, and not only that but the sky looked really bad. There were a lot of scenes where the clouds just looked totally fake, compared to all the other seasons where I've never noticed that before.
2. The Time Twins: I think these guys could have been handled a lot better. In the end, they didn't feel very scary, they never really did anything menacing, and I was never really that concerned about their overall plan. They also have no real motivation for what they're doing, except "control time, control everything". I don't know if it's just because I've raised the bar, but when you compare these guys to villains like Morro and Nadakhan, they just don't stack up.
3. The Vermillion: Did we really need snakes again? No, we really didn't. But they weren't so bad... the main reason I didn't like the Vermillion was...
4. The Writing: The writing in this season was really bad, and that's for 2 reasons. First off, the Hageman brothers didn't help at all with the writing, and secondly the season was written by like 5 different people. One guy wrote episodes 1, 2, 9, and 10, someone else wrote 2 random episodes, and all the other episodes were written by all different people. And a lot of those writers just didn't know how to handle the characters. There was a few scenes where I was just groaning about how dumb people were acting, or how out of character they were being. In the very first episode Jay keeps complaining about how tired he is over and over and over. It just felt very forced and unfunny very quickly. There were also some fights that just went on for way too long. There was one point when my younger brother actually sighed with impatience during a fist fight that just didn't end.
5. Side Characters: Dareth, Skylor and Ronin just felt so unnecessary in this season. Whenever they were around it was usually just to pad the runtime or so they could make dumb jokes. There's one episode where Dareth and Ronin are fighting some Vermillion and they don't really contribute anything to the plot. They hardly interact with the main characters, they just do unnecessary things for a while. Samurai X is another character that was handled poorly. He/she was hardly around, and when they were around it felt very weird. Also, why didn't they just reveal who it was? There was no real reason not too. One last complaint is PIXAL. She just "goes offline" and nobody even acts like it's a big deal. Zane doesn't even act worried. At one point he's just like, "Oh, I forgot, she's still offline". Like, what??? Zane would be way more concerned then that.
6. Filler: I think if someone took out all the filler this could have been a six or seven episode season. There are whole episodes that were practically unnecessary. There was only one semi-filler episode in Skybound (my dinner with Nadakhan) and at least it was fun to watch, which wasn't always true for this season's episodes.
I could go on but I'm sure I'd bore you to death. Anyways, overall I'd rate this the worst season by far, and I can't wait until season 8 when we finally get the Hageman Bros back.
That's exactly what I was thinking. At first, I thought I was the only person who hated Hands of Time. Fortunately, I was wrong.
And yes, I am looking forward to Season 8. It has so much promise to be the best season of Ninjago so far.
Yeah...the other seasons were just so much better to me. Especially the first two seasons and Skybound, in my opinion.
