If you're a writer like myself, then there's one thing that would bother you all season long:
The ninja were REALLY out of character.
Seriously, they treated Lloyd with the kind of disrespect I would expect from Season 1. Instead of facing a vermilion warrior together they rolled a digital die and watched as they were pummeled 1 by 1. In addition, these new writers try to make pop-culture references a ton. References can work in the right context. But these ones just seemed like an afterthought more than anything. And above all else, the humor was just SO BLAND. I don't think I laughed once during the entire season. And most of all, it was incredibly immature. The characters were more immature, the jokes were more immature, it's like they were pandering to Ninjago's new younger audience 24/7 and giving the fans that've stuck with the show since the beginning nothing. Season 8 looks like it could be the complete opposite of this, with older characters and what could be a darker theme. And also, I write FANFICTION that's more accurate to the show than Season 7.
What was so awful about it? 1.The dumb villains weren't supposed to be good, just a bit comedic. 2.The Vermillion warriors are only about as bad as Serpentine. 3.Lloyd acting different was just character development. 4.The Mega Monster Amusement battle was to re-visit an old location, make the episode longer, and show Lloyd's taking charge. 5.Jay left his friends in the desert because the bike was too fast to slow down. 6.It was a very amusing season, but still kept a decent story. I honestly don't see what's bad about it. *pause* Wait- where you expecting this season to be good?!
1 and 2. The serpentine were at least GOOD at being comedic. The vermillion warriors seemed to be painfully trying too hard. 3. I know character development, and that wasn't it. Rather, that was all the ninja being out of character. 4. They visited it in Season 6 anyway! And making the episode longer for no reason is a bad thing! They could've fit a plot in that space! And also, Lloyd has taken charge a ton of the course of the series, and this season pretends that he has to learn how do do that again. 5. Nobody denied that. 6. The story was a mess in my opinion.
Hm this is an old topic but I'll share my thoughts.
I really disliked this season, I thought it was very bad. Now to be fair I've thought the same thing about Rebooted and Possession, and in the case of Possession my opinions have changed drastically, it went from being one of my least favorite seasons to one of my favorites. But I doubt that'll be happening with Season 7, and here's some of the reasons why, in no particular order...
1. Animation: The animation just did not look as good in this season. Zane wasn't as shiny as he usually is, everything seemed darker then it usually is, and not only that but the sky looked really bad. There were a lot of scenes where the clouds just looked totally fake, compared to all the other seasons where I've never noticed that before.
2. The Time Twins: I think these guys could have been handled a lot better. In the end, they didn't feel very scary, they never really did anything menacing, and I was never really that concerned about their overall plan. They also have no real motivation for what they're doing, except "control time, control everything". I don't know if it's just because I've raised the bar, but when you compare these guys to villains like Morro and Nadakhan, they just don't stack up.
3. The Vermillion: Did we really need snakes again? No, we really didn't. But they weren't so bad... the main reason I didn't like the Vermillion was...
4. The Writing: The writing in this season was really bad, and that's for 2 reasons. First off, the Hageman brothers didn't help at all with the writing, and secondly the season was written by like 5 different people. One guy wrote episodes 1, 2, 9, and 10, someone else wrote 2 random episodes, and all the other episodes were written by all different people. And a lot of those writers just didn't know how to handle the characters. There was a few scenes where I was just groaning about how dumb people were acting, or how out of character they were being. In the very first episode Jay keeps complaining about how tired he is over and over and over. It just felt very forced and unfunny very quickly. There were also some fights that just went on for way too long. There was one point when my younger brother actually sighed with impatience during a fist fight that just didn't end.
5. Side Characters: Dareth, Skylor and Ronin just felt so unnecessary in this season. Whenever they were around it was usually just to pad the runtime or so they could make dumb jokes. There's one episode where Dareth and Ronin are fighting some Vermillion and they don't really contribute anything to the plot. They hardly interact with the main characters, they just do unnecessary things for a while. Samurai X is another character that was handled poorly. He/she was hardly around, and when they were around it felt very weird. Also, why didn't they just reveal who it was? There was no real reason not too. One last complaint is PIXAL. She just "goes offline" and nobody even acts like it's a big deal. Zane doesn't even act worried. At one point he's just like, "Oh, I forgot, she's still offline". Like, what??? Zane would be way more concerned then that.
6. Filler: I think if someone took out all the filler this could have been a six or seven episode season. There are whole episodes that were practically unnecessary. There was only one semi-filler episode in Skybound (my dinner with Nadakhan) and at least it was fun to watch, which wasn't always true for this season's episodes.
I could go on but I'm sure I'd bore you to death. Anyways, overall I'd rate this the worst season by far, and I can't wait until season 8 when we finally get the Hageman Bros back.

Speaking of fanfiction, I could rewrite Hands of Time from the beginning to the end. Also, can you link me to some of your fanfiction?

I have a story in the stories subforum that I'm working on, plus a few "unreleased" ones.

Well now I know 4 people who dislike HoT. However, the season was actually written by only 1 person, not 5 people.
Uh... no, I'm pretty sure it was written by 5 people. If you look at the episode credits in HoT, it says "Written by [insert name here]" and it's not David Shannon or whatever his name is for every episode, only some of them. Perhaps the credits are wrong, but I'm not sure why they would be.

Oh, OK. I hadn't heard about this until now. I thought it was just writer by the DoTD writer.
*The story. *The Time blades. *The villains (except Commander Machia). *Lloyd becoming a sensei. *The way the new vehicles and weapons were introduced. *The EPIC fight scene in the flashback story, with Wu and Garmadon vs Acronix and Crux. *The continuity with Rebooted from Cyrus Borg. *The Karlof cameo. *The Skylor cameo (I know it's not what people were exactly hoping for, but the conversation was good between her, Kai, and Nya). *The way Cole's RX hands were handled in the 2nd half of the season. *Dr. Saunders being Crux in disguise (too bad the sets already spoiled the twist). *The fact that the ninja have the reversal Blade now (hopefully it won't turn out the same as the elemental blades, sword of sanctuary, and realm crystal, if you know what I mean).
What I DIDN'T like:
*Commander Machia being ms. perfect-at-everything. *Commanders Blunk and Raggamunk being portrayed as the dumb duo (2 random vermillion soldiers should've been the comedy relief, not 2 commanders) *How Cole's RX hands were handled in the 1st half of the season. *The way Dragon's Forge was introduced (dimly-lit and small-looking?? Seriously, animators?!). *No chase scene with the smaller vermillion speeders and Jay's cycle. *Unlike other villains, the vermillion had no proper backstory (Yeah, they tried to explain their existence, but it didn't really even make sense, TBH). *The way the Iron Doom looked (the set looks much better). *No sign of the Titanuim Ninja Tumbler at all (It's the BEST DoTD set, and yet it is not even acknowledged to exist in HoT!) *Snake-themed villains for the THIRD TIME. THE THIRD BRICKING TIME. [br] IT'S TIME TO STOP! I T ' S T I M E T O S T O P Ugh....In all seriousness, the vermillion were cool, and better than I thought they would be, but they should've been made of worms, or slugs, instead of snakes.
So, HoT wasn't a perfect season, but I did enjoy it all the way through, and there are definitely more pros than cons, at least in my opinion.
Well, the villains for Winter 2018 are evil bikers, so I guess that a fourth snake Season will be the most creative idea the team has for Summer.
My opinion on Hands of Time: (for anyone who cares to listen). To me, it was like reading someone's fan-fiction--which, in a way, I suppose it was a fan-fiction. With the Hageman brothers busy with their new show "Troll Hunters", it was up to one or more people with a rudimentary knowledge of this strangely popular Lego TV show to create an intricate and exciting plot line that would be able to last a whole season. When I saw the set images and heard bits and pieces of the story, along with the fact that this season would be written by different writers, I thought it would be practical to keep expectations low. Because my expectations were low, the season did not disappoint me, and I was left but mildly satisfied. Honestly, I can't blame the writers--Ninjago is neither their story nor their world, thus being able to emulate the Hageman brothers would have been virtually impossible. There were plenty of negative parts that others have previously pointed out, (story line, villains' characters and motivations, doing snakes for the third bricking time, ect.,) but there were some good parts, too. (The way Ray and Maya were brought into the picture--even though the set images already spoiled that bit for us--, Kai believing his father and attacking him in the shop--I thought that was well-played, heart was in my throat--, and the fact that Jay and Nya are still close and were able to have a little moment together--that took me completely by surprise). Considering their inexperience with the show and its characters, the writers have my respect for creating what they did, and I can't blame them for trying and putting work into that story. If Hands of Time had not been a canon Ninjago season and had instead been some kid's fan-fiction here on the LMBEs, then I would have been greatly impressed. All merely my opinion, of course.

Perhaps an aquatic theme for the villains would be cool, like in the movie. However, instead of just being humans dressed as sea creatures, they could be like evil mermaid monsters or something. I don't know...I just don't know anymore.

The villains for the movie should have been actual mutant sea creatures. Humans dressed in shark costumes is something I think is a very silly idea that really keeps me from seeing this movie.
Wow, we need to create a thread about ideas for future Ninjago waves.

I think the reason they aren't actually mutant sea creatures is because those kinds of enemies had already been done in the "LEGO Atlantis" theme. Another reason could be that the general audience of moviegoers who don't know LEGO lore might have thought mutant sea creature people are a "Pirates of the Caribbean" ripoff.

Yeah, when I first saw that trailer my reaction was a bit like; "o.O . . ." ". . ." ". . . Well, OK, then. That was interesting." (Then I got used to the idea and accepted it.)
Ooh, yeah! Someone should totally post that. I'd join in.

Princess Ariel's new song?
That season would introduce some very evil villains.
