Interesting. Sort of like Reformed (Calvinistic) Baptists? We are sort of like old-fashioned Protestants.
That's part of my reason. I don't think Rome ever worked to be ruled by one person, it was too large and powerful. That's why Rome switched from the kingdom to republic. But when Diocletian split the Empire, that didn't work, because he really made 4 new empires. And it eventually became 2, but it never had it's glory again. The Gracchi brothers are one of my favorite parts of Roman history. I wrote a 5 page paper on them for school (I'm homeschooled). I love reading Plutarch, he tells in the stories in such an interesting and eloquent way.
Yes, Britain is great. I want to go there someday, London, Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, ah, what a great country! I have to go to York too, that's where Constantine was crowned.
*randomly buts in*
Britain is technically multiple countries, and does not include Belfast or Dublin.
Sorry, I needed to say that.
MY WORK HERE IS DONE! *superhero pose*
((also why is my type automatically Verdana?))
In Britain I was including the broader scope, The UK and Ireland. Belfast is in Northern Ireland, Dublin is in Ireland.
Are there any 'founders' of TRC left on here besides LEGOrebooted, Trenz, and I? Steph, you joined really early, but I don't remember if you were one of the first or second pagers...? Brian, same for you...? And Nid, you were kinda-sorta a member early on, if I recall. My memory is terrible, though, so if someone could remind me, I'd be grateful.
Not a second pager, sorry. I joined when it was in the 000's.
Maybe that's where the Chosen One prophecy comes back to light. True balance. But I don't think Rey will be the Chosen One, it will be Luke.
I say it definitely is. Which means we have one of those un-winnables, we're both right.
Kylo is going to turn good at the end, and not die. If he died it would be tragic. I think he is going to turn back to the Light again at the end. He is struggling between the two, Snoke leads him towards the dark, but if Luke and Rey could bring him to true balance, it would be over.
True.....but Bendu is a little too....... Ya know.
Possibly. Could go either way.
Eh, we can't both be right if we say conflicting things. If you said the sky was blue and I said it was red we couldn't both be right... We can agree to disagree, though.
Please, please, please, do not have him turn good. I want him to stay evil, and if I was responsible for that decision, he definitely would remain so. I actually wouldn't mind it of Rey turned to the Dark... I mean, there's absolutely no way it'll happen, but it'd be different and kinda cool.
I actually dont. Too what?
Or Rey could turn Sith! lol, jk
Ever heard the saying. "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailors take warning." So there ARE red skies, yet is is blue.
Yeah, but think of it. Jedi padawan goes bad, despite being so strong with the Force in the Skywalker family, almost entirely destroys Jedi Order, kills his father while suffering and being "torn in two". He has some good in him, so it would be dreadfully tragic to the storyline if he dies. Star Wars does like happy endings.
I can't tell you how many of those jokes I've heard lately. She wanted to go back to wait for her family, who were supposed to come back, but Maz told her they weren't. Anyway, I get the impression she doesn't like it there.
Anakin at the end of ROTJ was originally some different guy, but after the prequels they changed it to Christiansen.
Idk either. I guess we just need to ignore the accent.
Ah, yes, tired and unfunny jokes. My specialty. I agree, she doesn't. It was obvious through JJ's direction that she was worried she would spend her entire life there and longed to leave. JJ did it quite well without spelling it out.
No, I mean when they remove his helmet. They still have the original guy (who was the same one who played the ghost) when Luke removes his helmet and he dies. The 'Tell your sister... You were right...' guy. His name is Sebastian Shaw, I think.
I suppose so.
Lol. Well, they are funny, if used in the right context. You used it in a way I have never heard before, so it's amusing.
Oh, yeah. Now what about him?
Yeah. NOBODY has an accent. Period. Anyway, Liam Neeson is British.
JUST STOP IT! I can't change my opinion and more than your opinion about Natalie Portman! I don't know if I care much about what 'Rian' says. Directors play ridiculous word games.
Rey's identity might even be intertwined with Snoke's. There is all one big dark secret. Lor San Tekka is involved, too, I would say.
I have only seen her in three movies, the prequels.
Maybe.....if they only use it slightly on minor characters it would be okay.
Cool beans.
Yeah, but still, she was in other stuff before Rogue One. I think she was already a rising star, and because of R1 we all know who she is. And I don't think salaries are an issue. Star Wars is one of the most popular franchises ever, I certainly think the actors get plenty of money for their roles.
I really, really think he will.
Judge him by his size, do you? When 900 years old, you reach, look as good, you will not!
Yah, but he's also the writer and he's the only one who knows everything about TLJ, besides maybe Kathleen Kennedy.
I dont think Lor San Tekka will be involved anymore at all... I think he was just a throwaway character, who will hopefully appear in some other cartoon or comic or something.
I saw her in Thor, as well. She's pretty much the same, and I'm not a fan.
Yeah, I'd prefer they just use it to de-age the original actor than recast a dead actor, but sooner or later, it'll reach a point of advancement where it'll look good enough that whenever they do a recast, or cast a younger version of a character, they'll probably do CGI make-up. I'm not arguing its rightness or wrongness, but just that it's going to happen within our lifetimes.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant. So I agree.
I 100% disagree.
It's actually the way he talks that hits a nerve somewhere.
Yeah....but remember how JJ said "Rey has not encountered her parents in The Force Awakens." But later he said, "What I meant by that is..." and went on to explain. Basically his sentence was a word game. He was speaking in figures.
I was thinking Lor San Tekka had something to do with Rey, or the padawans. I mean, Kylo obviously hated him for something. And how does he have that map to Luke Skywalker, anyway? But I think he is mostly a tool, just someone to kick off and begin Kylo's badness, and to give Poe the map.
Okay. I really try not to hate actors, though there are a few......
Yes, but I just don't think CGI can capture the art of a person. Everybody moves, talks, show emotion, in their own way. A computer can't quite capture that, because personality and feeling are involved.
Her 'persona'. The way she acts. I find her irritating, and not a terribly good actress... And it's just her acting, I mean. I saw one thing where she was playing Password on some late night show with J.J. Abrams, and she seems nice enough IRL.
Anybody here love history? Particularly English and Roman history?
I do, but I don't remember most of my English and Roman history. I'm a bit more familiar with American... Though I can brush up on English or Roman if you wanna discuss a specific topic.
Oh...no. You don't have to study stuff. I was just sort of curious, and if someone did happen to know without me encouraging them to know, I would discuss it because it obviously means that they somehow had some previous interest, not due to me wanting them to know, or someone else wanted them to know. That make any sense?
I mean, I have a couple partially completed stories on the old MBs, and I've had TONS of ideas for stories. But as far as actually writing them? ... nope...
That's pretty much exactly my track record. Wanna see all these ideas made into full stories, but actually sitting down and writing them isn't as easy is it sounds.
Same here! I'll have to try to actually write some this summer.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
I've seen troll videos on YouTube used to discourage pirates(?). Basically they look like they're the real movie, then they just have a 2 1/2 hour screen saying piracy is a crime.
That's hilarious!
My history teacher just tried to have us watch a pirated episode of a TV series for a quiz, but no one could get it to work so he had to call it off, which gave me a bit of a laugh.
Once a guest speaker just straight up told my class she watched pirated movies. And I know some friends who do it too.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
Yeah I heard that too. She seems to have made a full recovery from being presumably blown up on Starkiller Base.
...
I've heard Ahmed Best is actually a cool guy, he just got stuck playing a really bad part.
But, I mean, it would, that's kinda how the Sith work... They could probably try and make a work around, though. There's always a workaround.
Assumedly she escaped. Still humiliating, though. She was literally dumped in the trash.
Thats probably true! He even kinda hinted on his social media awhile back that the Darth Jar Jar theory might've been the original plan, which is kinda neat.
...
She honestly wasn't very good at her job. I heard a theory that she is actually a Resistance spy.
Yes, that was one of the cooler things he's done. And one of the main reasons I 100% belice the Darth Jar Jar theory.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
I guess, technically? It does have some cool monster fight scenes.
Yeah, he doesn't appreciate Japanese films.
Ooh, nice. They still use the suits, correct?
On the ither side of the spectrum, my dad is the one who introduced me to Godzilla when I was about 4.
Correct. Up until last year, all Japanese Godzilla films have used almost entirely suits. The time-travel in the movie is really confusing, but if you think of it as a stable time-loop, it works.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
