The original LMBs had a Petrolhead's Chatroom and it was pretty active (about 60 pages before the LMBs were closed). It appears as if nobody else has made on on here, so I'm doing it .
You can talk about anything related to cars, especially LEGO cars ! Discuss real-life cars and their LEGO counterparts, both as official sets and your own creations!
A question to you guys, what's your favourite car? Mine is the Koenigsegg Regera, an extremely fast car with 1,479 horsepower. It uses a twin-turbo 5-litre V8 that can run on biofuel along with three electric motors. It's so fast that it doesn't even need a gearbox - the combined power is enough to do 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds and 0-186mph in about 10 seconds. Even at that speed, it can do burnouts. Top speed is limited to 250mph.

I like minis.
Happy birthday by the way!
Hey thanks ! I don't really go on here very often but good to see people still remember me .
Older Minis are quite cool, and the new Mini Cooper S is decent (not sure whether I'd have it over a Fiesta ST or Up GTI though). Can't stand those ugly Countryman or Paceman models though.

I don't really keep up with car knowledge, so I'm not sure.
They are indeed! In fact, they took one of the Mini inline-3 engines and tuned it to make the i8's engine.
BMW also own Rolls-Royce - all of those are built on a 7-series platform. So an M760Li (which also has a twin-turbo V12) is basically a Rolls-Royce in the same way that an Audi R8 is basically a Huracan.

*Can't understand all the complex names*
What, the BMW naming system? First number (e.g. the 7 in M760Li) is the model. 1 is smallest and 7 is largest and most luxurious (although they're adding an 8). Second and third numbers (60 in this case) represent the engine. Larger number is a bigger engine. 60 is the biggest there is. Suffixes:
"i" means petrol
"d" means diesel
"e" means hybrid
"L" means long wheelbase or luxury (only applicable to 7 series)
"c" means coupe (only applicable to older cars e.g. 330ci)
"t" means compact (again, older cars only e.g. 316ti)
Prefixes:
"M" means sports model. M followed by 3 numbers is a mildly sporty model (e.g. M240i). M followed by just one number is the extra sporty one (e.g. M3).
"X" means SUV (e.g. X5).
"Z" means sports car or roadster (e.g. Z4).
"i" means electric/hybrid range. These cars are unrelated to the regular ones (e.g. an i3 is completely differerent from a normal 3).

Car platforms are WEIRD I always loved the Nissan Stagea.. It's essentially a wagon on the Skyline platform. And it was never sold in the USA.

Erm...
Sorry, just the numbers alone confuse me.
I gave up trying to understand BMW naming a long time ago.

*weeps internally*
Ah yes, got to love the Stagea. That's probably one of the best examples of platform-sharing done right.
On the other hand, you have the Aston Martin Cygnet which was built on the Toyota iQ platform and sold for about £40k. For a city car. No wonder less than 150 were sold.

In general, the last two digits tell you the power (it used to be engine size, but it's no longer the case). For new cars, a "20" has around 180hp, a "30" has around 250hp, a "40" about 350hp, a "50" around 450hp and the "60" (only used in one model) has 600hp.
The first digit tells you the "series" that the car comes from. For example:
"330i" = 3-series with around 250hp "520d" = 5-series with around 180hp "750i" = 7-series with around 450hp
Yes, it is complicated, but I think it's nowhere near as bad as Mercedes' system.

Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that. One of the stranger concoctions of the car world Have you heard about the so-called Saabaru?
