Helm's Deep is a large valley gorge in Ered Nimrais below the Thrihyrne. Further back is Aglarond, or the Glittering Caves. Helm's Deep is sealed off by a large trench and rampart known as Helm's Dike, behind which lays the powerful fortress, the Hornburg, likely the greatest fortress in Middle Earth after Minas Tirith and Minas Morgul.
The Hornburg was made after Gondor ceded Calenardhon to the Éothéod, and it was used to guard the Gap of Rohan. The deep was named after King Helm Hammerhand who took shelter here during the Long Winter of T.A. 2758-2759. It was here also that the famous Battle of the Hornburg occured.
This region simply borders the West Emnet to the north, and is on all other sides surrounded by the Ered Nimrais (insurpassable).
This regions provides the usual 1,000 MWE and 100 SWE.
