I respectfully disagree with everyone who believes the galleris will go. LEGO doesn't "disregard" the desires of the fans, the MBs were just becoming too much for them to handle, and essentially it was bogged down with spam. And they couldn't figure out how to overcome all the glitches, so the logical step was to do away with the boards (to everyone's regret), but for the present it was a good solution. If they took the galleries down soon after, then I would understand hating on them. But just for one necessary decision, however hard it might have been, we can't just automatically assume that they'll throw out everything else we ever enjoyed. That's not fair to them, guys. And I'm sure they will find a better solution to replace the boards sometime in the future, one that will be more easy to use for people on mobile devices. And I can't stress this enough: LEGO Life is NOT...let me repeat that...NOT... a substitute for the MBs. So lose that idea. I think we all just need a little patience, and good will come of it. In the meantime, the galleries will stay. Will they change? Maybe. None of us can say anything for certain. But for the present, let's just enjoy what LEGO still has to offer and not show all this bitterness towards them for one difficult decision they had to made.
Alright, I'ma stop ranting now. xD
Firstly, may I point out that as far as I am concerned I did not automatically jump to the conclusion that the Galleries will close? I only shared my concern and thought that in the scenario of its happening we should be prepared. I truly do not know if it will happen, but it might, so why not prepare ourselves? Secondly, you say "let's [...] not show all this bitterness towards them for one difficult decision they had to made". The problem is that it has not been one decision. There have been plenty. My relationship with the Lego Group the last few years has been a series of events where I was given something really good only for it to be taken away from me later. There was Lego Universe, the Creation Lab, (the other two MMOGs that I don't really care about, but still), the slow, but steady shrinking of the Lego Universe Forums, until last summer, they decided to close them fully (along with a bunch of other forums), even though there were still plenty of people using them and finally the closure of the whole Lego Message Boards. I am not saying there were not reasons for all these happening and I understand some of them were really natural and/or serious (though I think I am allowed to have some doubt over some others), but that does not make up for the fact they did happen. Lego has made some really great creations that thousands of people have enjoyed and were even amazed at. However, one by one, it casts them aside for its own reasons, letting all these people down. And on top of that, they often didn't even give sufficient reasoning for these things. If the situation with the Boards was so bad, why didn't they just say so instead of making vague explanations of "all things having to end". For all that, I think I am allowed some bitterness.
But you say I should enjoy what we have and not be bitter. Yet, it is you people that are dwelling on the one bitter sentence of that post and ignoring the rest, which is about maintaining what "LEGO still has to offer" even after it does not offer it anymore (if that happens), so we can enjoy it if not forever, at least for some more time. If my other replies were more bitter, remember they were only replies to your posts.

So, considering that the Lego Group has now made a reputation of not caring about its fans, I wonder and I do believe others do, too, whether the Lego Galleries are headed to join Lego Universe, the Creation Lab and the Lego Message Boards. Though on first thought it might seem a very logical assumption that they will do it eventually, I don't think it's that simple. The galleries are much more inherently connected with what Lego is (though I don't think that's gonna stop them if gets in the way). Lego are building games, so it makes sense to be able to have somewhere to share what you build with the world. It's more obvious why Lego would need a gallery than a forum. As I said, though that wouldn't really stop them, if they wanted to close the galleries/ A more valid argument, though, is that there are many different galleries. They are not all one whole of various forums and subforums. They are different platforms. So, it would be a big step, if the Lego Group suddenly decided to close them all.
Even so, I'm not saying they won't and I'm not saying the won't close individual galleries. So, what if suddenly Lego announces they're gonna be closing any or all of the galleries, would it be the LMBs all over again? I currently lack the know-how to make such programs like the LMB Archivist, so I'd like to ask those who can, if they would be interested in trying to make a similar program for the galleries, so that when/if the time comes, we can be ready. With the Boards, we lost two months we could have been using to archive, because there was no proper tool. Let's not have a repetition of that. I know such a program had been made for the Creation Lab when it was closing, but I don't know how compatible it would be with the other galleries. It would probably not work, but I don't know how many changes would be required to make it work. And I don't know if a universal Gallery Archivist could be made or whether each gallery would need its own. I don't understand how easy or difficult this journey would be for someone that decided to walk it and that's why I'm making this topic. To learn if some would at least consider it.
You forgot MLN, and a bunch of other social lego communities.

WhiteAlligator said that they had no plans to remake the messageboards at all, and then proceeded to follow up with some 'but no one knows what will happen in the future' vagueness when everyone wanted clarity.
Also, I could be wrong here, but Lego is one of the richest companies in the world, surely they could have hired some computer coding wizards to un-bug everything if they cared enough about it? All the glitches and bugs on their sites illustrates apathy quite clearly because they can fix it if they tried.
Meaning that they, the mods, were not made aware if it was LEGO's intention to remake the MBs. For all we know, it is still possible that they are working on a better system that we can chat on.
I thought about that, and the only thing I can think of was that this decision was made before, and the glitches did not entirely make up the reason for them to close the MBs. I can't say for certain what their main reason was, but getting angry at LEGO for this decision does nothing. If that's what you want to do, fine, but it's just a waste of your time.

I wasn't singling you out. Just in general I have seen a lot of apathy towards LEGO concerning the MBs, and lots of people have taken that to the next level and assumed the galleries are next.
From what I can tell (and let me be clear, I hate saying this), the majority of these decisions are just those annoying things many businesses go through. They have products and things like the MBs that are popular and well-loved, but at some point either the product falls out of demand and they decide to cut it, or for various financial reasons they are no longer capable or willing to support it. And I wish that weren't the case, but it happens, and I'm afraid that's what happened with the MBs.
Okay, that felt like it was meant to be more offensive to me personally. Please don't direct that bitterness at me. I completely understand being upset that LEGO has made these decisions, but if you feel like anyone that stands up for LEGO even in the face of some unfortunate decisions needs to be treated disrespectfully, I'd like to ask you to stop that. If you no longer want to buy LEGO products, fine, your decision. I really don't care. If your upset, I understand. Email LEGO if you feel like it. But being upset about various decisions they made does not excuse turning your anger to others. What I was saying was that we need to enjoy what LEGO still has to offer, and if you can't do that then just forget it. You seem to think LEGO won't improve, so why still bother? Just move on. We have a great community here and I think we should appreciate that. Bitterness towards LEGO doesn't make anyone's life better.
The LMBs were closed because they really weren't promoting the LEGO products much anymore. The Galleries are going to turn into a continuation of the LMBs, everybody is continuing their clubs and chatrooms there. Also, LEGO primarily wants people to use LEGO Life, despite those users who don't have phones and tablets (including me). They will dump the galleries, eventually.
So, considering that the Lego Group has now made a reputation of not caring about its fans, I wonder and I do believe others do, too, whether the Lego Galleries are headed to join Lego Universe, the Creation Lab and the Lego Message Boards. Nah, they aren't going to do that. Lego is phasing out their moderators because with Lego Life all you can post is emotes so there's no need for moderation. Lego is cutting unnecessary expenses so they can have more money.
I wasn't implying that Lego closed their MBs because of the bugs, the bugs were an example of how Lego loves their money too much to use it to streamline their sites when they could so easily. Another example is that $400 Death Star lego set, it costs lego $20 to manufacture one, but they sell it for $400. That's just blatant extortion and I have yet to see them use all their money to improve themselves.
I'm not mad at lego, I do think they're lame, but I like how they closed their MBs because we now have this place. I also hope they close their galleries so that more people from lego will be forced to come here.

Alright, understood.
No, I'm the one who should apologize. I jumped to a quick conclusion there and didn't think. But thanks for clearing that up.

Well I guess that means we get more (and hopefully better) products? And we still have the galleries and this place, so we can be thankful for that at least.
I completely agree with you about the rediculous prices, that is definitely something that should change, but unfortunately they can get away with it... I guess we just have to accept the sad truth that they'll disappoint us frequently. =/ They aren't the only companies fixated on greed.
The problem I have with that is it's hard to advertize this place and get it through moderation. Sure, it got through before, but for the most part it was discreet references and not an outright, "Please go to the new LMB Eternal to continue the fun that was had here!" It's really lowered the numbers of those in the community, and I don't think that closing the galleries improves the situation.

It could result in better products, but Lego is not impressing me and most people my age with their newer content.
People will drift away from the galleries eventually anyway, it might not improve the situation for them to close, but it could go either way.
