I haven't seen anything to suggest that he is, BUT I wouldn't be surprised if he has a very minor cameo.
But if I were to guess, I'd say they're saving it for IX. Rian might not want to go crazy on fan service all at once, like Heir to the Empire and most of the EU did hahaha
The actor is pretty old, although it would be pretty cool. It would be a weird pattern though. Lando would always appear in the second movie of the trilogy.

AND the Second Anthology.
True, but when the Originals were made, there was no other anthology for twenty years!
STAR WARS NEWS AGGREGATOR WARNING: Spoilers and rumors for past and future Star Wars stories are posted here. This includes films, TV, comics, books, and video games.

The Star Wars News Aggregator was my most successful topic on the LEGO Message Boards. This is its reboot!
News/spoilers/rumors for future Star Wars stories will be posted here! Anyone is welcome to share a scoop, although I ask that they include their source, at least by name. Discussion is obviously encouraged, but please don't stray too far off-topic. Theorizing is also welcome, but please don't mislead people into believing that theories/speculation are proper leaks/spoilers.
And no roleplaying, please.
Other than that, enjoy!
Do you think Lando Calrissian will be in VIII?
I know I'm not Trenzy, but so far, there's no news of Billy Dee Williams returning to Star Wars. Also, filming is already done, so it's most likely that he won't be there.
It appears that Disney is already in talks with Carrie Fisher's estate in hopes of securing her appearance in future Star Wars stories.
From BBC Newlight: “[...] and if what might be regarded as unseemly haste, Disney is negotiating with the actor’s estate over her continued appearance in the franchise. If Disney gets the go-ahead, Carrie Fisher will join Peter Cushing, who last month, 15 years after his death. played a key role in Rogue One as Grand Moff Tarkin. With computers, anything is possible. But is it desirable?”
It's possible that this could be something as minor as continued appearances in Rebels, the comics, etc, but I don't think so. If it was something that small, the issue wouldn't be pressing enough to contact her mourning family members so soon.
But Leia's inclusion in Episode IX depends on decisions made in VIII, and every day counts when it comes to reshoots and additional CGI. So if I were to guess, the higher-ups at Disney-Lucasfilm are ensuring that a CGI-constucted Leia is even an option going forward. But again, that's speculation.
I don't really know what to think of the idea. Leia was essentially Carrie's only role, and if you listen to some of her interviews, it really became a part of her, even in everyday life. So a part of me likes the idea of CGI because it's honoring the fact that Carrie Fisher is Leia and Leia is Carrie Fisher, but then, isn't also a bit tasteless to recreate someone so recently deceased when you have time to consider so many other options?
It's definitely a conundrum, and I'll be interested to see what's decided. I just hope they tell us beforehand so we know what to expect.

UPDATE:
Disney has addressed this rumor:
"We don’t normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address. We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa."

I don't really like the CGI. Can't they gather up unused TFA footage to put her in IX?

Well, from what I've read, she was going to play a really, really major role in Episode IX. Far more major than unused footage would allow. It's essentially coming down to whether they want to use CGI/recast, or if they want to essentially entirely rewrite the final installment of the trilogy, and possibly the culmination of the Star Wars saga to a version that is not the one they want.
I have honestly no idea what they should do in this situation. It's a bit of a Kobayashi Maru.

You know, Leia has the Force, and she never really developed that. She never became a Jedi, and didn't use the Force that much, a little though. I got the impression that the Force with Leia was going to play a larger role in upcoming movies.

You're probably right. I'm inclined to agree, definitely.

Actually, in Bloodline, it is stated that Leia tapped into the Dark Side of the Force to kill Jabba in RotJ.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
