{JAMMERS! GOOD ONLY!} Rivendell would probably be better. I can't guarantee a win here, but the worst that could happen is that I need to pull out. That's not exactly an option at Rivendell.

Why? Assuming you have the right materials, it's not hard to light them there. May actually be easier in some ways, since then you don't have to try and keep the torches lit while traveling.
Right, but the projectiles would be in sight by the time they actually leave the engine firing them. So my elves would just aim at the spot where they first see the fiery projectiles, which would stand out.
*My troops use the cover of the bushes and their natural agility to keep from being hit. Those orcs facing my Hunters are slowly pushed back, as they are not able to keep pace with the elves' rapid rate of fire.*
OOC: OK, thanks for the info.
because it's hard to see, or at least it is for your troops. And it's not that hard to keep them lit if they're made properly.
Possibly, but it's still not as good of aim.
*The Orcs retreat while attempting to burn the elves out.*
OOC: What exactly do you mean by "burn the elves out"? Are you referring to your siege engines firing on mine with fiery projectiles? Or are your archers doing something with fire now too? Just want to clarify that before making a move.*

OOC: The orcs are retreating, and while retreating are pouring oil on the ground, and after they are out of oil, they light it.

Again, it's dusk, not midnight. It's not pitch-black, just getting a little dark. And that depends on the weather.
As good as what? Anyways, I'm just going to assume we keep exchanging siege engine fire while the other moves are happening.
*The elves continue to fire at the backs of the retreating orcs. However, they also back off slightly as soon as they realize the oil has been poured and lit.*
