A lone Matoran stood at a volcano's peak. It was shorter, and weaker than its kin in Metru Nui, a result of faulty rebuilding in Karzahni. Nonetheless -- this Matoran's spirit has gone unchanged. Much in the same way as he would have done in Ta-Metru, sneaking into the foundry so he could surf on the molten metal, he would ride down this volcano, as he had done many times in his life, and indeed, break his previous record. Another Matoran, again a product of the ineptitude of Karzahni, stood at the bottom of the volcano to this effect, wielding a watch with which it would accurately measure the time it would take for his good friend Tahriak to surf down the volcano. He would wait until a signal brazier on the volcano had been knocked over, and then start timing.
This indeed happened, and with expert precision, the Matoran was able to (with help) press a button on the stop watch. A difficult feat considering he has blades for hands and feet.
Tahriak dove into the cavernous volcano, surfing down tunnels of lava in much the same fashion he had done ever since he had arrived on this particular island in the southern chains. He was focused on speed this time, rather than cornering, as he had already gotten the latter down pat.
Unbeknownst to Tahriak, a mass of shadows was coalescing in his village. The Makuta that had arrived was not acknowledged at first, the Matoran were intimidated, yes, but they knew the Makuta were allies, protectors.
That was of course until of the Matoran was brutally punched into the ground with some sort of bladed weapon that went in front of the Makuta's fist. The Red Star would be busy today.
Not a single Matoran was spared. Some were shadow bolted, some were unfortunate enough to be struck by Kratark's fistblade. The result was the same however.
He had left just as quickly and as senselessly as he arrived, and Tahriak leapt from an opening in the volcano that faced his village, and scored a perfect landing. Not that it mattered -- nobody was left to appreciate or witness it.
He did indeed break his record, but there was nobody alive to press the button on the stopwatch.
Not expecting to be greeted by such a horrific sight, the Matoran fell on his knees and cried out in anguish.
Little did he know this was only the beginning of the suffering that the Matoran would witness.
I think you meant to post this in a different topic.
A Makuta exits the shade of a near hut, it wears armor matching the fragmented memories of Avoss. Beside the makuta stands a Great Being. -no, a frail matoran with the mighty presence of a Great.
One matoran in orange and white peers over the side of a trench-like drop. He seems uneffected by the faulty mask.
OOC: You believe Mnemosyne to be a Great Being?
IC: Mnemosyne is momentarily caught off guard by the broken Wartonga, but her head quickly clears, leaving her one of the very few, if only, ones with a not confused state of being.

*Kuhtak looks at Mnemosyne but shows no recognition.*

But surely even when confused Kuhtak will recognize the form of Avoss? Or at least that is Umbraia's plan to get close. She takes a step.
"Run, Kuhtak!" Makuta Avoss's words echo in Kuhtak's thought.
You won't be thanking me when Vindurax finds out about Kratark's unauthorised attack on Matoran under his protection.
I thought the Brotherhood had gone evil already
Not publically. And Vindurax is more of a subtle, stylish, well-mannered antagonist; he doesn't like brutal stuff. He'd much rather sweet-talk the Matoran into serving in his armies, and trick them into signing an eternal contract.

"Avoss? Where are you? We gotta before the ugh!" *Kuhtak transforms into a bird-like Rakhi and teleports way up into the air. He then projects a mental message across the entire continent in hopes of Avoss hearing.* "Avoss! We have to stop the Brotherhood before they destroy Mata Nui!"

She would have physically responded to the words, but the shields set up by Mnemosyne were too strong for Kuhtak's message to get through. Makuta Umbraia finds it best to teleport on top of the soaring traitor and taint his antidermis with a disabling poison.
"I can't, Kuhtak. These matoran will be slaughtered if I leave!"
