The Iron Hills is Erebor's chief colony, and also its sub-HQ. Historically, although the region was poor in gold and other precious metals, its halls were Durin's folk's greatest source of iron. Although most of the realm's inhabitants moved back Erebor when it was restored from Smaug, and the Iron Hills faded in its historical significance, it remained as a sizeable mining colony. Its inhabitants were also rumored to have raised large boars, which they rode similarly to how Men might ride horses. These boars make up the only known Dwarven cavalry, and very Dwarf-like they are. These boars are not nearly as quick or agile as a horse, but they are difficult to take down and are still quite fast once they get up to speed, and really couldn't care less about trampling anything that might stand in their way. The river Redwater (or Carnen) begins somewhere in the Iron Hills, then flows south into the River Running
The Iron Hills provides seven and a half thousand troops to supplement Erebor, equivalent to ten thousand MWE (one and a third MWE per troop-worth).
Lying in the northeast corner of Middle-earth, the Iron Hills are surrounded by large regions. The Forodwaith spans the northern border (of both the Iron Hills and this RP), while Rhun sprawls across the East. Celduin lies just to the southwest, while the Withered Heath sits on the western end. Erebor lies about fifty miles to west of the closest point of the Iron Hills, just across Celduin.

{JAMMERS! -GOOD- ONLY!} Alright LB, here's your time to shine! Looks like you'll have some fun up in the Forodwaith with MM. Bring at least seven or eight thousand troops with you. You want to overpower him as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Don't worry too much about being attacked here, 8L and I will cover you.
Since LB appears to have forgotten to post this (despite having talked about it elsewhere). . . *Some Dwarves leave.* I mean, they are technically my troops still.
Word is passed quickly from the upper echelons of the courts to the depths of the forges in the bowels of the mountains: something big is happening. Ambassadors from Dale have been seen speaking with the Lord of the Iron Hills, and the architects have been hard at work on something.
All is soon revealed. The Dwarves are going to protect themselves as they never had before. They are going to build a great wall, greater than the Rammas Echor, greater than the walls of Isengard, even greater than the unbreakable walls of Minas Tirith. Work begins now.
