Most definitely from 2006 (my personal favourite) to 2008. The Mahri were cool, and they were all different to each other, and the titan characters were insanely awesome. 2008 had amazing vehicles and a cool concept for story and characters as well.
There's also the issue of how thin he is. I mean, look at him, he's only two pegs thick. He probably has anorexia or something

Hewkii may not have looked the greatest and his mask seems kinda weird. But Hewkii is Hewkii, so I love it. Plus, Garai are the only Kanohi that can fit on Piraka heads, the set comes with a morning star for his thigh(? I always just called them knee pads but I guess that's not as accurate, stuff it, I'm still calling them knee pads) armour, and he is da chain boi.
I'm one of those awkward people who didn't discover BIONICLE until G1 was already over... But! I do love the story arc of the Hordika, and Rahaga Kualus is my favourite set. That was 2005, right?? (Second-favourite would probably be either Bohrok or Bohrok-Kal. 2002-3 ish?)

2001/02 and 2006. 2001/02 I love because it's the original year, and I feel the sets had such a nice charm to them. However it wasn't until 2006 that I really got into Bionicle.
Personally, my favorite year (or years) have to be divided up by sets and story.
Story-wise, the 2004-2005 line had to be my favorite. The birth and adventures of the Toa Metru hold a special place in my heart, and the transformation from Proud Toa to Hordika was a unique and interesting direction for the story to go. That, and Time Trap. I don't really have to say more than that.
Set-wise is a little bit harder for me. I first started getting Bionicle sets at the end of 2005 and into '06, so those have a level of first-time nostalgia, but the Gen1 sets from 2007 onward (excluding the Stars) were frankly stellar. Ultimately, I think 2007 has to win out simply because of the unique style of the Barraki and, to a much greater extent, the amazing sets that were Maxilos and Hydraxon.

Favorite classic year— 2008, because that's the year I became a fan (I had seen the first 3 movies before then, but I wasn't a full-on fan yet), so I have nostalgia for it. Also, 2008 had awesome sets and story.
Favorite modern year— 2015. I honestly don't understand a lot of the hate for this half of G2. In my opinion in had great sets and a good story. The only problem I had with it was the lack of commercials, which of course led to the poor sales in 2016.

I kinda like 'em all. I really can't decide. Especially 'cause I got into BIONICLE after it was canceled. I still managed to get a bunch, I just have NO clue which year is meh favorite.
