So... Um... Has anyone mentioned the new Hogwarts Castle yet? Looks like we'll be getting Susan Bones (Not Ginny. IDK why everyone thinks it's Ginny). Which is great because she is a Hufflepuff. Meaning we're getting a Hufflepuff uniform. Meaning it's highly likely that a Ravenclaw uniform will arrive too.
Pretty sure someone mentioned it somewhere, but yeah, it looks great. I don't know if I'll end up able to or allowed to purchase it, but I sure hope so.
Oh yeah, I heard about that! It sounds really cool, I can't wait!!!
I'm really, really excited for the new Lego Harry Potter sets, I was too young for Hp when the original line was out, though I've managed to get a few minifigs from local shops. I can't wait to see HP sets with 2018 Lego detail!
Come one, come all, to the Harry Potter Chatroom!!!!! Here you can talk, chat, discuss, argue, spam about Harry Potter all you want!!!
I wish I could be a know it all here , but my parents won't let me watch the movies! And I was just at the library, ready to check out "The sorcerer's stone", but then my dad wouldn't let me get it! I don't know what the big deal is. I ask you- is Harry Potter appropriate for 10-year old christians?

I would answer yes, but there are many Christian families that don't allow the books because of "witchcraft." I have met some people that have had very good reasons to ban them, but most of the time it comes from a misunderstanding of the content. The kids in the books learn fictional magic spells and stuff at their school, but none of it is anything like real-life sorcery. As the series goes on there is some darker stuff, but it's very clearly portrayed as super-bad and there's still nothing based in reality.
In fact, the series was written by a Christian and includes many Biblical themes and concepts, notably the power of sacrificial love, and also directly quotes Scripture in the final book (although it doesn't reference it as Scripture). So I'd recommend it to pretty much anybody over 10, although I guess it depends on how sensitive you might be to certain things. (As I said, it does get a lot darker as it goes on). But you should be able to read at least the first book or two and in a couple years the whole series. And if your parents still won't let you read it, then I'm sorry but there's not much you can do so don't make a big fuss and maybe they'll reconsider in a few years.

Thanks for the info. My mom looked it up when I told her J.K. Rowling is a christian, so she's a bit more willing. My dad, however, is a different story.
{SPOILERS!} Queenie betraying Jacob for Grindelwald made me SO angry though! I thought she would care. (I also wish Abernathy hadn't betrayed them, and that one scene...*shivers* and then he was so silent and creepy after that!) I really liked the portrayal of Dumbledore; he may have actually cared for Grindelwald, and breaking that Unbreakable Vow must have been torture! It was also nice to see Leta Lestrange and a young Newt, and the baby scene was heart-wrenching. I mean, my favorite recently-seen movie is Mary Poppins Returns, but this comes in pretty close.

Late reply, but I'm a Christian who was raised with Christian parents, and my dad read the Harry Potter series to me when I was 5, and I started reading it on my own for the first time when I was 9. The first three are appropriate for a ten year-old, although I'd suggest maybe waiting on the last four as they are on the darker side. I was fine at 9, so I guess it depends on the person.
If you go to a public school you could always check out Harry Potter books at that library, but if your parents would get mad if they found out you did that, don't.
And the movies? Well, I think the books are way better and the movies are cool but not that important to watch.

Thanks. I think my parents are considering letting me read them once I'm eleven.
Well, I'm homeschooled so...not really an option
I don't really care if it's the books or the movies- I just need into this fanbase!

Crimes of Grindelwald was pretty neat, it could have been a lot better but it made me excited for the rest.
I'll be the one to revive this again...........'arry Potter!
By the way, if you see my last post here, I made it about me not being allowed to read/watch anything Potter related. But then, for Christmas I got the books from my parents! I read 'em all in a few months and I watched the first movie for my B-day.
So, fellow Potterheads, let us revive this topic!!!
