1. What inspired you to start posting on the LMBs?
I didn't know much about the LEGO Messageboards until the LEGO Universe haiku contest. After I posted my first entry, I started looking around and becoming interested, and within a few weeks started posting off and on. I think the contest was a great way to let people know about the Messageboards.
2. What do you think of the new LMBs?
I think the new MBs are great improvement from the old ones. The color text and new emotes are great! It took a little while to figure out, but overall, I think they're great!
3. What could we do to improve them for you personally?
Well, other than a few glitches that can be worked out quite easily, I feel that a way to follow users posts, and a Hero Factory story subforum would be nice. I also think that there should be some sort of tutorial, so that users who haven't been on these new boards can navigate easier. And one more little thing I would like, would to be a way to edit and repost your rejected posts.
4. What do you think of being one of the first users to reach Samurai Warrior, Knight, and now Highland Battler?
Being one of the first people to reach all those ranks, was shocking! I never really expected it would happen with all the other great users on the boards. But it felt good too! It made me feel like I was accomplishing something while just having fun.
5. What kind of things do you post?
I post pretty much everything I can think of, from themes against other themes, and fun stories, but my favorite is helping new users get around and have fun themselves.
6. What kind of posts are you likely to give “likes” to?
I'll give likes to almost anything that makes me laugh or I agree with, I don't really care whether it's written with good grammar. As long as I agree with it, I like it.
7. Do you use the LEGO.com galleries? If so, which ones?
No I don't normally use the LEGO.com galleries, I've posted once on the Hero Factory gallery, but they're rather hard to find and navigate.
8. If you could be any minifigure what would it be?
I always liked the Battle Mech series 9 minifigure. It is so awesome!
9. What is your favourite LEGO set?
My favorite set is probably the Hobbit "an unexpected journey" set because it is so well done being based off of the Hobbit Shire, and the minifgures have such nice detail.
10. What advice can you give to other users who admire your amazing accomplishments on the LMBs?
My advice would be just to have fun! When a chance comes up I think it's always good to help people, new users or not, with any sort of advice they need on a LEGO set, or the MBs, but when that isn't happening, I think having fun is the most important, because that's what LEGO is here for!
11. What would you like the next poll to be?
I would like the next poll to be one dealing with a favorite character of some sort, maybe a new Hero Factory poll, such as, "Who is your favorite hero?" And the choices could be Bulk, Breez, Nex, Stringer, or Stormer.
1. How did you choose your username? What does it mean?
Well, my username's story is a pretty cool one. When I was 5, I had a stuffed animal dog, which I named Dog. I know, very creative. But, my imagination didn't keep it as a dog, and I made it into a mystical creature, called a Wolfasa. It was technically a school-bus sized wolf, with 2 pairs of wings, 2-foot fangs, and a club at the end of its tail. It has always been stuck in my head, and now I use it as my username. Hence, wolfasa.
2. How did you first learn about the LMBs?
Well, I randomly discovered LEGO.com about a year ago, and then, in January, I finally made an account. This whole time I had seen this weird thing called the Message Boards. So, naturally, I clicked it. I found all of this, and started posting away! At first I started in the Star Wars Forum, and then gradually and cautiously made my way elsewhere, posting more, getting bigger, and then, getting to what I am now!
3. You’ve said that you have been in the community for about 5 months now. What is the coolest thing you have learned so far?
Hmm ... hard question, this place is sooo cool! Maybe, well, I think I've definitely learned to write a lot better because of my posting, I look back at old posts, and I can definitely tell I have gotten better, a lot better!
4. What advice can you give to other LEGO fans that want to get started on the LMBs?
Well, first of all, maybe don't make the mistake of not making an "I am new" topic. I didn't, and as a result, I think I learned how to do things on here a lot slower! And also, don't give up because other users are a lot more popular and have a lot more likes. Look up to them, and strive to be like them. I used to hold Knight in awe, and now, because I didn't give up, I have it now!
5. You seem like a big Star Wars fan. Do you prefer the Clone Wars or Original Saga? Why?
Well, Original Saga. The lines, actors, directing.... All that was better. It doesn't matter if the picture is outdated and stuff, it's the soul of the movie, the actors, great lines, things like that that make it great. The Prequels were amazing, but I tend to think of it like a firework show, eye candy, but with the heart of it missing.
6. What would you do if you were a Jedi for the day? Why?
Well, hmmm..... So many things I could do. I think I would use my skills to bring a lot of the inventions from the Star Wars galaxy into real life, improving human-kind, and giving us a lot more capability to find what might be beyond Earth. I think that would totally be the best thing to do.
7. If you could write the next Star Wars movie what would you make happen? Why?
I would make the movie after the Thrawn Trilogy, my complete favorite EU (Expanded Universe) book series. The plot is amazing, and it captivates you from the very beginning. I wouldn't risk ruining the reputation by making something myself!
8. You’ve mentioned that your sister is on the LMBs. What is her LEGO ID? Did you introduce her to the LMBs?
My sister is catcat9996, a Gladiator. After a while being on the MB's myself, I thought I would share it with her. She's great, and me and her make a great team!
9. Do you visit any of the LEGO.com galleries? If so, which ones?
I have never actually even gone on a gallery. I don't really feel the need to, like me not doing MyLEGONetwork. I think the MB's is a perfectly fine place to stay. I am contemplating it though, I have a few creations that I might want to show.
10. What is your favorite memory from your time in the LMB community so far? Why did you choose that memory?
Man, another hard one! And so many to choose from! Well, maybe reading all the funny posts in the Message Boards sub-forum topics! They are soooo hilarious! Especially by Skul, Curly, Pacman, Cookie.... I love just reading posts sometimes! There are so many potentially amazing writers and comedians on here!
11. What user(s) has influenced you the most on the LMBs? Why?
Wow, hardest of all! I have had a lot of people that I look up to, but I think TridentLegend is who I look up to the most. He was one of my first motivations and inspirations to stay on here and keep going. He really helped me along, and, sometimes sub-consciously, guided me forward. He is great!
12. Do you have any superpowers?
Ooooh, I've always waited for you guys to ask me this question! I do in fact. This might not be considered a super power by most, but I think it is one of the most powerful. I have a pretty big imagination! I have invented whole worlds, species, space ship designs, wars, characters, and galaxies in my head, and I remember about all of it spot on. I think that is a real super power!
13. What would you like a future poll to be?
Um, is it okay if I steal one from on here? I think a great poll would be this:
What Star Wars era is your favorite?
A: Old Republic
B: Republic
C: Clone Wars
D: Imperial
C: Rebellion
or
D: New Republic
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
What is your favorite old LEGO theme?
15. Question from TannerJ: If you were free-falling out of a jet airplane and the only thing you had was some LEGO bricks, how would you use them to save you?
I would grab my comlink, and offer all the LEOG bricks I had to anyone that would save me.
1. When did you first know you were a true LEGO fan?
I first knew I was a true LEGO fan when I saw the shock on my Dad's face when I completed a Piraka at the age of 3. Since then, I've been obsessed.
2. Your avatar is a little, well, scary! What was your inspiration behind its design?
I love Bunny's, and abnormal hybrid creatures () I combined them to create the Creepy Rabbit Thing. Hazzah!
3. You have been on the LMBs for a long time. Exactly how long have you been here? What about the LMBs has kept you coming back after all these years?
Well, 5 years. I love LEGO, so I joined the MB's at 6, just to give in Ideas on sets. I remember coaching and mentoring some of the most famous users, one of them Diglett. I came back this time 'cus I thought, while playing with my Galaxy Squad Hive Crawler, I think the MB's need me!
4. As a seasoned community member what advice would you give to a brand new user joining the LMBs?
Ranks don't matter! And look to me as a Parent, as I've mentored the best of the best. As well, to post in a range of Forums, and be nice.
5. Do you post in any galleries? If so, which ones? If not, why not?
The answer would be no, and thats because I've never actually looked at them . I'll have a look!
6. When you’re older what career would you like to have? Why?
Either a Rugby player for Harlequins (Go Harlequins!) because I love sport, a writer because I love writing, or a LEGO designer, as ya' do. joking:
7. What is your hidden talent? How did you learn it?
Rugby, a English Sport (Play it! ), my Dad taught me and I'm 2IC of the School team.
8. Your posts are always really funny! How did you get to be such a funny writer?
Thanks! I just post my thoughts, and for some reason, my thoughts are funny.
9. Congrats on reaching rank Viking and being a Craftsmen of Olde. Can you explain how important the ranks are to you and why?
I'm now Samurai, but Hay-Ho. I don't find them very important, but I love the feeling of ranking up.
10. You post all over the boards. What is your favorite type of topic to read and post in: regular chat, roleplays, stories … ? Why?
Chat, because everyone's usually positive and we have a laugh. mil:
11. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not on the LMBs? Why?
Rugby and Playing with LEGO. 1) Because I love tackling and 2) Well, it's LEGO.
12. Do you have any superpowers?
Not really, but people say I'm a positive person who always contributes to stuff.
13. What would you like a future poll to be?
I would like a poll: "What do you expect from an MB Mod?" I expect... much.
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
What would you say if all Jester +'s go back to Caveman perminantly?
15. Question from LEGOpanama: “If you could bring back any theme, which one would you want?”
1. What is the story behind your very unique username?
I remember that I created my username in 2009 in order to save my progress in the Glatorian Arena game, of all things. I tried out a few options, all with the suffix ‘BIONI’ - ‘BIONIPOWER’, ‘BIONISPEED’ and other such things - but eventually I settled on the username that I carry now. I think that it turned out rather well!
2. Obviously you are a huge BIONICLE fan. What is it about BIONICLE that you love so much?
There is no one answer to that question. BIONICLE is such an amazing and diverse theme – a brilliantly-crafted storyline, well-developed characters, fascinating locations and awesome sets. I can’t wait to see how the new BIONICLE story will pan out!
3. How did you feel when you first heard that BIONICLE would be returning in 2015? Did you think it would return one day?
I held out hope, but I didn’t think that there was a chance of it happening until I heard a rumour in early 2014 on the internet about someone saying that they were working on a new constraction line for LEGO. Then came the inevitable leaked images, the ‘hype train’, and finally the announcement at New York Comic Con! I was overjoyed at the news. I just hope that the new line will be as good as the old one!
4. You are also really active in both the old and new BIONICLE roleplays. What is the best part of BIONICLE roleplay?
The older BIONICLE roleplay’s complexity is astounding. The users there have really devoted their time to creating a roleplay that is true to canon BIONICLE, yet also builds upon and enhances it. For example, the actual BIONICLE story has Mata Nui being catapulted over to Bara Magna, reconstructing an old prototype robot and facing Makuta Teridax, who is inhabiting his previous body. We have Mata Nui and the original character of Cold Steel being catapulted over to Bara Magna, Mata Nui travelling to Bota Magna and gathering an army of Earth Glatorian, Mata Nui returning with the army, both him and Cold Steel reconstructing robotic bodies and both of them facing the character of Makuta Inharax, who is inhabiting Mata Nui’s previous body. We take the old storyline, then attach various things to it and somehow end up with something (arguably) better. I’m so glad that you didn’t shut it down in the end, because we have something really special there. I encourage all of you reading to join us in the Solis Magna System!
The newer BIONICLE roleplay is the exact opposite. It’s a blank slate, just waiting to be written upon. galijb and I are currently working out the running of various things involving the Stone Tribe (yep, for those of you who don’t know I have a special Stone text format – it’s a long story), some of which I wish I could tell you. However, I am suspicious that there may be Skull Spider spies in our midst (BarchaV2, I’m talking to you)!
5. If you could be any BIONICLE character who would you be and why?
Oh, goodness. If I can have an original character, it’s Demaron, Toa of Sonics (he’s the leader of the Toa Hauden, the Mata/Nuva equivalents that I control in the older BIONICLE roleplay). He’s a natural leader, a good speaker, a powerful fighter and gifted with a quick mind. Also, he has a Kanohi Faxon. If it has to be a canon character, I think that I’ll choose Toa Jaller. He shares many of his qualities with Demaron. Alternatively, I might choose Pohatu Nuva – dependable, strong and down-to-Stone.
6. What is your favorite part of the new BIONICLE website and why?
Probably the ‘Okoto’ section. It has a lot of good content, and I’ve been using it recently to plan the Region of Stone’s layout in the newer BIONICLE roleplay. Hopefully I’ll be able to post the map of the various locations within it in the Galleries once the roleplay’s planning phase is over.
7. You’ve chatted a bit with former BIONICLE writer Greg Farshtey in his LEGO General chat topic. What was it like chatting with such a famous member of the BIONICLE community?
It is simply amazing that we have the writer of the BIONICLE story on the Message Boards, willing to answer our questions! I don’t know any company similar to LEGO that has something like this. I would like to say a big thank you to Greg Farshtey for being the explainer and revealer of information for us all!
8. What career do you hope to have when you are older and why?
I decided a while ago that I would like to be a Professor of Classics or Ancient History at Oxford University (since I am British and live in England [although, just to complicate the issue, I consider myself partially Canadian, since I was born there]). There is something about the ancient world that I find fascinating, and I have decided that I would like to dedicate my life to studying it. Many of you will have seen the many references that I make to the Greek and Roman worlds in my posts. I’ll have to work hard for the position, but I am willing to do almost anything in its pursuit!
9. You’ve been in the community for a long time now. When did you first join? How did you first learn about the community and decide to join?
As I said before, I first created my account in 2009, but I didn’t actually join the Message Boards until about six months ago. I was about to download the LEGO Minifigures Online game when I saw a link to the Minifigures Online forum. Intrigued, I had a look around and promptly joined the (now inactive) Minifigure Republic Group. Cue a month or so of diplomatic negotiations about a potential alliance with the Nexus Crusaders. About a month later I decided to expand into what was then known as the BIONICLE Roleplay and is now the Old BIONICLE Roleplay, and the rest, as they say, is history!
10. What was the very first LEGO set you remember building? What did you like most about it?
You know what? I don’t know. I actually don’t know. I’ve had LEGO in my life for so long that I can’t remember! However, I do remember that I possess a few Duplo train sets from when I was very young. Like many other boys, I was obsessed with trains at that age.
11. If you could visit the LEGO Company headquarters for one day what would you do? Who would you want to meet and what would you talk about?
I would try to interview some of the important company officials there! I’m currently doing my E.P.Q. (Extended Project Qualification), an option that I can take as one of my subjects in school by which I have to complete a large, well-researched project over the course of two years. I’m planning on making a documentary on the history of the LEGO Group, so interviews would be brilliant for me. I actually plan to contact LEGO’s offices in London to see if I can do some interviews there. Wish me luck!
12. Choose quickly: North or South? Cats or dogs? Day or night? Salt or sugar? Go out or stay home? Love rollercoasters or hate rollercoasters? Aliens or monsters? Super heroes or super villains? City or forest? Free build or instructions?
West! Gerbils! Dusk! Milk! Stand in the doorway! Middling towards rollercoasters! Rahkshi! Vezon (BIONICLE fans will get this joke)! Ancient ruins! Modification to instruction builds! If there’s one thing that I have learned through life, it’s that being different is awesome!
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
Limited Stone, Sonics and Lighting control. Those apparently weak abilities, however, give me a bunch of amazing powers that most don’t think of: with Lightning I can control someone’s mind through the electrical impulses in their brain; with Sonics I can fly using continuous and controlled miniature shockwaves of sound; with Stone I can fashion anything that I can think of, including huge fortifications, impromptu weaponry and nigh-on unbreakable armour (might be a bit heavy, but I can control the armour to allow me to move – and it even enhances my movement because I can move the armour as quickly and forcefully as I want). Here’s a challenge – try to figure out what else I can do with these (P.S. You are fully responsible for any BIONICHARGE world domination caused by his knowledge of abilities that you have thought of).
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you could design any new LEGO piece, what would you make?
15. Question from abbeadventerous114 – “If you had a chance to become one of the characters from the LEGO minifigures series ( any season ), who would it be and why?”
That’s easy for me – Roman Emperor, Roman Commander, Roman Soldier or Spartan Warrior (not necessarily in that order), as you might guess from Q8. Just a thought – could I suggest a Greek Philosopher minifigure? That would be amazing.
Just one more thing that I have to say: thanks to all of you on the Message Boards for making this a truly wonderful experience for me. I wouldn’t be here without you!
May your swords be sharp and your shields be strong, my friends!
When I first made the account I was watching a web series and there were two foolish characters called, "Karateduo1". It was two different people and I tried to convince my brother to call himself, "Karateduo2" instead of, "Darkinvader2"
2. What is the story behind your unique avatar design?
I actually normally wear suits and ties and yes, a top-hat in real life on a regular basis. Usually with a giant black coat. The skull face is the closest to the gasmask I wear when I'm trying to look scary or am joking around. In the end it resembles me to a certain degree.
3. You are a roleplay representative. What is the best part of being a rep? What is the toughest part?
Well, I'm actually a REP of two RP's, and one of the hardest things is trying to find out what will work in one and not the other. I think some of the hardest parts are keeping as many people happy as possible. Also another thing that has been an issue lately is the contrast between canon and fanon. I know that many REPs have to find out how much fanon can be let in without the RP becoming inundated with such things. In short I believe in loose canon. However, this contrasts to the good things about being a REP. Seeing people and the RP thrive. At the end of the day seeing a problem resolved is one of the best things one can ask for.
4. What tips do you have on being an awesome roleplay member?
Listen to what other people have to say. If everyone is against you, then even if you are right, you will still never become famous (maybe infamous though). What other people say is important, always try to understand things from a different point of view before you act.
5. Congrats on being an “Inventor of Olde” and current Royal Guard. What is your secret to rank success? How important are the ranks to you?
Well, in the old MB's all one had to do to rank up was post a lot, thus I joined an RP and posted a lot (not spam, just lots of posting). The new ones required quality, my brother and I started experimenting to find out what made people rank up. We then found that the MB's use Lithium Technologies for their forum. In the end we found that time since joining, minutes spent online, likes given, likes received, posts read, and post amount are all linked. We could never get exact numbers (or anything remotely close), but as you can see rank was, and still is, a big thing.
6. You are also a “Forum Founder.” What was the most memorable part of the transition from the old LMB platform to the current one?
I was actually rather bothered that I had lost my old rank and had to start over again. This however gave me a new vigor to advance as quickly as I could. I now appreciate the quality put into the new LMB platform, and although I miss the old one, the new one has opened up many new opportunities for me.
7. You are very active in the community, especially Ninjago Roleplay, what inspires you to return to the boards each and every day?
Well, the initial reason I joined the MBs was because of the end of Lego Universe. Shival (an LU Mod) told me to come to the MB's five minutes before the actual end of the servers. The emptiness of the end of LU led me to try to find a new outlet for my LEGO side, which I found in the MBs. However, as I made friends and rose to positions of power in the HQs, I found others relying on me. When the Mods started doing the REP stuff, I was made REP of two RP's. Ever since then I have had a lot of responsibility and I want to assure a quality experience for all who participate in the MBs, thus I log on every day. Actually more than every day. Since I found out one of the factors for gaining ranks is time spent on the MB's I usually just leave a tab open and reload it so new posts can come in.
8. If you were Mod for a day what would you do and why?
Moderate posts and answer questions I would assume. The only thing I wonder about is if Mods can actually participate in the RP's, because I would miss doing that if I couldn't anymore. So I guess I would try to join an RP because that is what I would normally do.
9. If you could design your own official LEGO set what would it be and why?
This question is a hard one, really hard. I would have to either say make a set built around the Ninjago RP storyline (which is very unique in itself), or make a set out of one of my lego gallery builds, the Hyperion.
10. Do you prefer reading posts or writing them? Why?
I enjoy writing them more. I uphold well written, well spaced, and concise posts. Some of the posts that I read go on and on and become tedious. I do enjoy longer ones if they have a good story to them though.
11. Are you looking forward to the 2015 Golden Brick Awards? What award are you most looking forward to? Why?
To be truthful, the last 2014 GB awards were a disappointment to me and some of my fans when we figured the whole process was subjective. Overall I'm fairly nonchalant towards the whole event.
12. Tell us three interesting facts about you that we don’t already know.
1: I don't eat sugar, and instead enjoy eating raw vegetables. So many vegetables.
2: I like to make my plans for RP domination outside of the MBs with other users. (obviously some other users already know this fact )
3: My love for German things is almost as equal to my love of legos.
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
My superpower would probably be that I have two personalities. As mentioned before one wears lots of unique clothes which help him to look something like a bad guy from the Agents series crossed with Monster Fighters. Also he has mastered moving without making noise, and can easily sneak up on people or sneak when they are looking away. I also have a good guy persona that has a strong sense of justice. He is good at speaking and can rally people to his cause just by his mere words. However I guess the one fault is that they look very similar except one wears a gasmask.
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
What is your favorite discontinued Lego color?
15. Question from ninjazane7474 – “If you could have one LEGO set you didn't have already, what would it be?”
Hardest question on this whole list. It took me an hour with help from a friend to narrow down the choices. In the end we choose set 10201 Takutanuva. Whilst I own Makuta and Takanuva separately, having them together with the Movie edition mask of shadows is something every collector dreams of having.
Interview with abbeadventerous114 (Gold brick award winner)
1. Congratulations on receiving the first ever “Most Awesome Story” award in the 2014 Golden Brick Awards. How did you react when you first found out? How does it feel to be award-winner?
Thanks!! Well, when I heard about the GBAs I was pretty excited about the " Most Awesome Story " category, but....I had no faith what-so-ever that I was going to get it.. When it came up, I was pretty excited to read who had been nominated. when I saw Silent Ninja at the bottom, I broke out into a big, ol' cheesy grin, and was pretty excited, saying over and over again " No way...."
I opened up the jammer saying who won, and the second I saw " Silent Ninja II " In the jammer, I thought I was going to faint. I had to reread it several times before I believed it. I screamed ( Like, SCREAMED ), and ran out of the room, jumping up and down like a rabbit. My mom thought I had seen a spider in the office, or something. I am still amazed to this day that my story, with its spelling errors and all, was even considered, let alone picked to be the winner!! It was an amazing experience, and it comes to show, that no matter how small you may seem, you still have a chance.
2. You are active in Ninjago Roleplay and Ninjago Stories. Is it safe to say that Ninjago is your favorite theme? What is your favorite thing about it?
VERY safe. Well, I enjoy the action, the characters, and I enjoy watching how the ninja progress through-out the seasons. They all started out as a bunch of average young-adults, and they are hand-picked by Sensei Wu to come be ninja. As time goes on, you see them mature, and mold into Ninja. It's a very interesting theme, and is just the thing I need sometimes to perk me up when I'm having a bad day =)
I also see the show to be almost like how things happened in the past. Like an example.
3. What three tips can you give to users hoping to become LMB story writers?
Never give up. If you surrender just because some chapters get rejected, or if people aren't reading, don't lose hope! Sometimes people are reading, but not posting. It happens a lot .
Try a writing partner. One of the only reasons why Silent Ninja has become a Saga ( That's right, I'm writing a fourth ) is because of my writing partner, and dear friend, JJ7210. Writing partners are a good way to be inspired to write, and to continue writing. They can often give you tips and advice as time goes on, and not only is it good for writing, but you also develop a friendship. =)
Be inspired! Try reading some books by your favorite authors, and see how they write. What kind of words do they use? Do they narrate the story, or do they use Point of Views?? Try to see what they do, and try to put it into play in your stories!
4. If you had to choose between roleplaying and writing stories which would you choose and why?
Writing stories, totally. I have been doing both RP ( roleplay ) and writing as long as I can remember, but writing has always been a favorite past-time of mine.
5. What LMB stories by other authors are you enjoying right now?
I am enjoying " The Dark Ninja Trilogy " By jakebusto, " The Guardian " By EpicTruth1 ( My cousin!! ^-^ ), and " The Titans-The Beginning " Also by EpicTruth1. I read many others, but those are some of my top stories =).
6. It’s the start of a new year. What are you most looking forward to in 2015? What was your LMB New Year’s resolution?
Acquire the Fire next month, Pastor Kid's retreat in the fall, and the all-new season of Ninjago!! My resolution was to try to create a signature font ( Which I have already ), and finish writing my old stories (......Working on that.....XD ).
7. What is your favorite hobby outside of the LMBs? Why?
Oh boy, hard question. My favorite hobby would have to be drawing.
Last summer I purchased a Manga drawing book from a craft store while on vacation, hoping to pick up some drawing tips. Within a few months, my art had transformed into what you know now =).
8. What is your hidden talent? How did you get so good at it?
Acrobatics, totally =). When I was six, my parents signed me up for an acrobatics class at a dance studio, and every year I was in it, I moved up a rank, until my third year, when I had to quit .
Even though I had to quit, I never stopped practicing. I continued doing my tricks in the backyard, and to this day ( four years after I dropped out ) I can still do the splits, and my special trick. .
My special trick began one day when I was in the yard one day in between my second and third years of Acro, I was in my backyard doing tricks, and I was trying to do a front-handspring....And I did it without my hands....O_O This trick proved useful in later years ( even to this day ) for stunts. That trick transformed into a cartwheel, and it evolved into a hand-less round-off. ( Doing a cartwheel, putting your legs together, turning a bit, and landing with both legs still together ).
9. What is your favorite LEGO set of all time? What is the trickiest set you’ve ever built? What was the last set you built?
Well, I would have to say the NinjaCopter. I had bought it with my own money last summer, and it will always have a special place in my LEGO collection. =)
The trickiest thing I have ever built would be the MechDragon. It took me TWO AND A HALF HOURS to build it!! It took me even longer to figure out why the cage wasn't staying in place -_-.
The latest set I have built would be the Kai Fighter. Very easy build, and very fun =).
10. If you could live inside any LEGO theme which would it be and why?
I think I would chose to live in Power Miners. Sure, Ninjago is awesome, but have you SEEN some of the problems they have there? No thanks, I'll take little, adorable rock monsters, XD
11. If you could have any job at the LEGO Company which would it be and why?
Moderator, totally. I would chose it because I would still get to be on the MBs!! =D I would be able to go in as a Moderator, who already knows how the MBs work, full of tales of my time on there =)
12. What is the best piece of advice you’ve received on the LMBs? Why did it make such an impression on you?
Hmmm.......Lets see.....Probably a few pieces of advice about writing I picked up from my friend Bridgey27 about capitalizing, spacing, Ect. I find it easier to write when I can see everything I have done more clearly =). I find it special because it was given to me by a friend, who, may I say, is an AMAZING author =).
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
Yes, I do: Super hearing. We don't know how or when it happened, but in my right ear I have a hole underneath the cochlea ( Deep in the inner ear, there is suppose to be a small sliver underneath the cochlea, but in my right ear it is HUGE. ).
Unfortunately, this injury is nothing that can be fixed, but I don't mind. I can't always tell what people are saying, but I can hear sounds very well, which comes in handy when you live in the city =).
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you had a chance to become one of the characters from the LEGO minifigures series ( any season ), who would it be and why?
15. Question from galijb – “If you had complete creative control over a LEGO theme… What would it be, and what would you do?”
* Evil laughter *
I would pick Ninjago, and get rid of the Overlord, make it as if he never existed.
1. You are super active in Star Wars Original Saga Roleplay. Why do you love it so much? How did you get started?
Haha! I wouldn't say that I'm "super active", but it's true that I do spend a lot of my time on the LMBs there. It all came about because I spent a lot of time in the LEGO Universe Creation Lab (In my opinion, still the best of all the LEGO Galleries! ) A lot of the models there are absolutely phenomenal - the creativity and attention to detail that users put into them just blows my mind! I originally only posted aeroplanes (after all, I am "The Moustachioed Aeronaut"! ), but when I found out there was a big Sci-Fi community there, I started to post spaceships as well.
After a while, I realised that a lot of my friends - such as Ariklego, RememberMM, Dino272727 and Mrawesomedude - were members of the Original Saga Roleplay on the LMBs. Seeing their great fanon models they'd made for the roleplay inspired me to join it too, and I've been loving it ever since! (I'd also like to make a shout out to my other buddies on the LUCL - Talmid, Ninjawolf, Bubseylegoguy, Thingguy and Crossbow - you guys are awesome! ).
The OS RP really stands out for me, because there's so much you can do there. A lot of other roleplays are just about throwing endless armies at each other, with no real objective. However, in the OS RP, there's all sorts of things like credits and planets, and since the Force and Lightsabres have been outlawed, ordinary characters like smugglers and space pirates can really make a difference! With the new changes we're planning, it's set to get even better still!
2. You have played a major part in creating the new planetary system in SW OS RP. Can you briefly explain the new system? How does it feel to be making LMB history?
The idea for a planet system in a roleplay has been around for a while now, but nobody ever seemed to get around to introducing one properly. What we've done for the OSRP is take all of those past ideas, refine them, and put them into a system that'll make the OSRP unique to anything that has come before!
Basically, we're doing away with the traditional idea of "HQs". There'll still be HQ topics for all the factions, but they won't be where the battles take place - they'll remain as administrative centres for the factions to plan attacks and train newbies, etc.
Instead, the battles will take place in 30 or so new planet topics, all named after a canon Star Wars location. Each faction will start off with a certain amount of planets, and as the roleplay progresses, they can invade and capture each other's planets, with the ultimate goal of conquering the Galaxy! Whoever does this is declared the winner, and the roleplay will start over. There's also a set of rules for travelling between planets, that makes it possible for Space Pirates to intercept and hi-jack spaceships in mid-flight, something never tried before, and hopefully will be really exciting!
3. Where did you get the idea for your username?
My favourite aeroplane of all time is the Vickers-Supermarine Type 300 "Spitfire", Mk LF.Vb. ...But not just any old Vickers-Supermarine Type 300 "Spitfire" Mk LF.Vb, ohhh no!
It's the Vickers-Supermarine Type 300 "Spitfire" Mk LF.Vb built in Castle Bromwich in 1942 with serial number CBAF 2403, which flew with 501 Squadron in the RAF, under the registration EP120, scoring 6 victories with Sqn.Ldr. Geoffrey Northcott, before being transferred to 402 Squadron in the Royal Canadian Air Force, named "City of Winnipeg", and given the squadron code "AE-A". After the war, she served as a "Gate Guardian" around many aerodromes, before starring in the 1967 "Battle of Britian" movie (which has an awesome theme tune, by the way ). Nowadays, she has been restored to flying condition, given the civil registration "G-LFVB", and can often be seen performing at various airshows around Europe, but mostly at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, where she is based in Hangar 2.
One of the best moments of my life was when I got to sit in her cockpit - the cockpit of a real, flying Spitfire - and my favourite one to boot!
I guess you could say I'm "Spitfire Mad".
4. You seem to post in a lot of space-themed topics. Are you really interested in space? Why? Have you ever thought of becoming an astronaut, space engineer, or even a rocket scientist?
Well, I love Science Fiction; not just Star Wars, but all of it! Way back in the murky depths of the late 1990's, when I was but knee-high to a minifigure, I saw all the re-runs of Gerry Anderson's "Supermarionation" shows: "Stingray", "Thunderbirds", "Captain Scarlet" and all the rest. That's what originally sparked off my enthusiasm for both Science-Fiction, and Science Fact - I fell in love with all the fantastic vehicles seen in the shows, and I spent a lot of my time trying to make them out of LEGO!
Nowadays, I'm always watching science documentaries on the television, and it's my ultimate dream to become an Aerospace Engineer - designing the aircraft and spaceships of the future!
5. Do you have any hidden talents? What are they? How did you get so good at them?
Well, that "Moustachioed Aeronaut" stuff in my signature isn't for nothing, y'know‽ I can actually fly an aeroplane, and I think it's one of the best things you can ever do! I took my first flying lesson last year, and I absolutely loved it! It comes as a bit of a shock just how fast you can get off the ground, but the sense of freedom you have whilst you're up there is like nothing else! Gently floating about the great blue yonder is so relaxing, and the world looks very different from several thousand feet up!
I suppose I'm good at flying because I spent a lot of time beforehand playing Flight Simulator games. They get a lot of bad reviews for being "too difficult", "unplayable without a joystick", "not having any character development", and "the graphics being too complex for anything but the most powerful computers". But all those things are what I like about them - of course, it's nothing compared to really flying - but they give you a good feel for how aeroplanes actually handle. Most people on their first flight are too hard on the controls, and jerk the 'plane about all over the sky. But in reality, a gentle touch is all you need - if you're kind to the 'plane, she'll be kind to you.
6. What is your favourite thing about Star Wars (the movies, not the roleplay)? What is your least favourite thing?
Well, as I've already mentioned, I'm a big fan of all Sci-Fi, but I love Star Wars in particular because of all the attention to detail that went into it. The Original Saga was a milestone in Science-Fiction - up until then, almost all Sci-Fi portrayed a "sterile" future - all the spaceships were beautifully designed, but were clinically clean and not very detailed, which made them look ... well ... fake. Star Wars was a breakthrough, because it portrayed a "used" Universe - everything was dirty and broken, things malfunctioned, and the characters had believable personalities. Nowadays, in the Digital Age, great CGI graphics are ten-a-penny - so it's not really appreciated any more just how much these things add to a story.
As for what I don't like ... well ... I think it can reasonably be summed up in three words of one syllable each: "Han Shot First".
7. Your signature has been counting down to “Towel Day.” What is that? Can you explain what it is and why you are so excited about it?
Towel Day, on the 25th of May, is an annual tribute to one of the greatest British Sci-Fi authors, Douglas Adams. His most famous work is "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", which was made into two Radio series, an increasingly inaccurately named 'Trilogy' of 5 books (plus a sixth, written by Eoin Colfer), a TV series, a Stage Show, a Computer Game and a live-action Movie! He also wrote "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" (about a bumbling private detective who uses the 'Fundamental Interconnectedness of All Things' to solve out-of-this world crimes) and "Last Chance To See..." (a more serious work detailing the lives of near-extinct creatures, and the need for us to preserve them.)
Sadly, Douglas died in 2001, so "Froods" like myself carry around a towel all day on the 25th of May, in his honour ("because a really together guy always knows where his towel is!").
8. Are you hunting for Mr. Gold? What is your strategy for finding him? What will you do if you do find Mr. Gold?
Well, I'm not "hunting" for him, as such. I know some people go all crazy, feeling the packets before they buy them to try and guess which minifigure is inside, but I prefer just to pick them at random - I like the surprise of not knowing which one you're going to get!
If I found Mr. Gold by actively seeking him out, then it wouldn't be much of a surprise, and I don't think I'd enjoy it as much. Also, I think it'd make it really disappointing to not find him, after all the effort I would have to put into it. If I found him completely by chance, however, It'd make the surprise much greater, and that's what I think it's all about!
9. What is your fondest memory from your time on the LMBs? Why is that memory so special to you?
My very first posts on the LMBs were in the Classic Café. Despite the fact that I was brand new to the boards, all the people there made me feel very welcome, and treated me as if I was an old friend, right from the start! First impressions count, and that warm welcome was what encouraged me to continue posting on the LMBs, and to become the user I am today!
10. What is one thing that LMB users may not know about you that you wish they did?
I'm a full-time student, which means I can go terribly inactive on occasion, often without warning. A lot of people don’t realise how much of a time commitment further education is, and can get really frustrated when I don't reply to them straight away. It's not that I don't care - I love reading all your opinions and suggestions, comments and jokes - It's what makes the LMBs such a great place to be! But if you want to succeed in your education, you have to put a lot of hard work in.
My advice for anyone thinking of going on to College and University is to pick subjects that you really enjoy! If you're enthusiastic about a subject, then you'll have the drive to do well in it - it's hard to put a lot of work into something you don't enjoy doing. Also, if you can come out at the end of it with a super qualification in the thing that you like best, then it puts you in a really strong position to get your dream job, whatever that may be!
11. If you could be any Star Wars character who would you choose and why?
Boba Fett, without question. It's not always about what you say, but how awesome you look not saying it!
12. If you found a genie and they gave you three wishes what would you wish for (if you could wish for anything in the world)? Why?
This probably sounds really cheesy, but I would wish for everyone to get along with each other. To use the words of one of my favourite non-Science-Fiction characters, Sqn.Ldr. James Bigglesworth, (known to his friends as "Biggles"):
"While men are decent to me I try to be decent to them, regardless of race, colour, politics, creed, or anything else. I've travelled a bit, and taking the world by and large, it's my experience that with a few exceptions there's nothing wrong with the people in it, if only they were left alone to live as they want to live."
I think, if everyone tried their best to live by that motto, then the world would be a much better place to live.
On a less serious note, I'd also wish for LEGO to bring back "Blacktron" - that was a great theme!
13. Do you have any superpowers?
Growing moustaches! Haha! No, although I do have a moustache in real life (I wouldn't be "The Moustachioed Aeronaut" without it! ), it's not all big and twirly like those you see on aviators in films. In fact, it looks rather more like a caterpillar has decided to take a nap on my top lip! But I like it, and that's all that matters - don't let anyone stop you enjoying what you love!
14. What would you like a future poll to be?
Who shot first: Han or Greedo?
15. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you could build a life size LEGO model of any vehicle, what would it be?
16. Question from Daler99: Which LEGO theme has influenced your life the most, and how has that theme influenced your life?
Y'know, I think I'd have to say that "Johnny Thunder and the Adventurers" is my favourite LEGO theme. I love all the different places they visit, and the vehicles they use to get there. That theme has inspired me to explore the world, and to appreciate all the fantastic things in it. There's so much to discover - you just have to look!
1. Tell us, are you a big NASA fan? If so, what do you love so much about it?
Yes I am a fan of NASA! I love the space flight part of NASA and spaceships just look AWESOME! As Benny from The LEGO Movie once said, “SPACESHIP! SPACESHIP! SPACESHIP!” I did get to talk with a NASA test pilot once and it was pretty cool. I asked him what the hardest thing he ever had to fly was. He said without a doubt, the Harrier. The rest I can’t tell you.
2. If you could visit any other planet which would it be and why?
I would probably like to visit Mars! Mars has really cool terrain and you would be the first ever to set foot on Mars! And also be put into the Guinness Book of Mars Records. And maybe Pluto, I’m sure he’s lonely, and he is still a planet in my book!
3. You are always so happy and friendly. Where do you get all of that positive energy from?
When I was born my Mom told everyone that it was like she stepped into a fabric softener commercial! So, I don’t know, but I guess my positive energy goes way back.
4. You are active in LEGO Minifigures Online. How long have you been playing the game? What’s your favorite thing about it?
I have been playing LMO since November and have enjoyed it so much! My favorite thing about LMO is making new friends to talk with, having tons of fun with them, and helping them out when they need it.
5. What tips can you give to other LMO players?
NEVER spam! Nobody likes a spammer. If you are nice and friendly, people will like you. An old rule applies here; “One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.” And just have fun playing with friends. Save your health potions too, you will need them later.
6. Are you a big gamer? What type of game is your favorite?
I’m not a huge gamer but I do enjoy playing fun games like LMO! My favorite type of game is definitely multiplayer because it’s more fun with your friends.
7. What is your favorite LEGO theme of all time? Why?
My favorite LEGO theme would be Creator. I think Creator is classic LEGO, 3 builds in one set really show cases what LEGO is about. My other favorite is Mars Mission. That was one of the best rotating themes.
8. If you had one LEGO wish what would it be and why?
My LEGO wish would be to build with Jamie Berard. I’m sure I would have tons of workflow and creativity questions and maybe some brick sorting questions. Well, if I could manage to speak at all. :’D
9. When did you first join the Message Boards community? How did you learn about it? What made you want to join?
I first joined the community about 4 months ago. I actually knew about the Message Boards for a long time but I just never joined. Then my inner social butterfly emerged from its cocoon and landed in the LEGO Minifigures Online forum.
10. What is your favorite memory from your time in the community? Why is it your favorite?
Favorite memory... I think my favorite memory was the “How Old are the Mods” topic! It was just hilarious reading people trying to guess the Mod’s ages and Mods “chasing” users who said that the Mods were 90 or something! I would love to know if the Mod’s favorite music is played on elevators yet. *Runs for the door* :’D
11. What is your hidden talent and how did you get so good at it?
My hidden talent is, I can do Mourning Dove calls and the doves call back! I figured this out when I was about four, and every time I did the call I got better and better. My family members have tried but the doves have nothing to say to them, so we figured out it was some sort of talent.
12. Tell us three interesting facts about you that we don’t already know.
I’m learning Koine Greek.
I love animals and birds!
I also love smoked Gouda cheese omelets! I like mine a little bit crispy.
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
Yes I do have superpowers. I make people smile. “A cheerful heart does good, like medicine.”
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
My question is, “If you could star in the next LEGO Movie what would your character be like?”
15. Question from HermanPlatina – “If you could invent your own Lego theme, what would it be about?”
Wow. HermanPlatina knows how to make a good question. I think a theme about Dr. Seuss books would be awesome! It would be cool to see all of those curved shapes made out of LEGO bricks. The Jetsons would be a really fun space theme too.
Thank you Moderators for giving me this awesome interview!
1. How did you decide on the design for your LMB avatar? It’s pretty cool by the way!
I like engineering and mechanics, and I thought this avatar looks something like that. I originally wanted a fancy blue shirt with blue pants, but then other users started wearing that outfit, so I picked something different. One of my favorite characters from LEGO Ninjago is Zane, and I like that he is a robot, so I picked something robotic. Sometimes I think of how much of a robot I am,"If my heart is the processor that creates all of my memories, friends, and love, then my blood must be the liquid cooling system." –zachcheung
2. You are really active in LEGO General. Is that your favorite forum? If so, why?
Actually LEGO Friends is my favorite forum, but LEGO General is another favorite. I like the LEGO General forum because there is lots of things to talk about, and with the holidays coming around, there is even more to talk about.
3. You are also really active in Friends. What is your favorite thing about the Friends theme? Which character is your favorite? Why?
I like the Friends theme because it's something very different with just as much fun as the other awesome themes. Just like Legends of Chima and Ninjago, it has an awesome story line, a TV show, and awesome characters. My favorite is probably Emma, she's the cutest.
4. You are a very friendly, kind user. What advice can you give to other users hoping to be as positive as you?
Thanks for the compliment! My tips on being a friendly and kind user is to be yourself in the best way. Something I always make sure to do before I log in and before I log out is check myself for positiveness, helpfulness, and friendliest character. Not only will you be kind and friendly, you might rank up and perhaps be interviewed.
5. You are a Legends of Chima Online player. What is your favorite part of the game? What is its most challenging aspect?
My favorite part of the game is simply that it is free! I might upgrade to a membership when I have some extra money laying around, but because it is free, anyone with a computer and a fast internet connection can play. I also like that it is a game I don't have to install (except Unity Player, but it is free too!), so I can go to my nearest coffee shop and play! Some of the challenging aspects are finding the good weapons and armor. Some of the armor gives you lots of health, or lots of speed (I prefer health), and some of the good weapons do big damage with an area of effect, or just do lots of damage to a single object.
6. Tell us three interesting facts we don’t know about you.
Three interesting facts about me:
I am also a Disney Princess fan and a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan (Brony for short), mainly because during my childhood, I hung out with girls because I didn't fit in with guys, which is also why I like LEGO Friends!
I am the only person in my family who collects LEGO Sets. My mom and dad lived in a place where LEGO was hard to find. My mom did have one LEGO set (Amazingly she still remembers it was #261 Dolls Kitchen), but she gave it to someone else. And my brother likes LEGO, but is more interested in History and Sociology.
My favorite number is 0.637 or 0.937. When you type it into a calculator that has the straight digits and flip it upside down, it spells "LEGO".
7. It looks like the new LMBs debuted right after you joined the community. How did the update affect you?
There's an update? . I joined a year before the update, but only posted 4 times, so my knowledge of the old LMBs are very faint. I did remember the format was different, ranks were different, and the avatars were smaller and more classic video game like.
8. What about the LMBs inspires you to remain such an active, positive community member?
Just the awesome friends of the LMBs already inspires me to be an active positive member. Let me take this time to congratulate some of these members who allowed me to be who I am today: First of all, I would like to congratulate LEGOtheterrible, WhiteAlligator, and Greenninjasgirlfriend; These three members were the very first three to click the like button for a post from me. I still remember the day I checked and saw those first three likes and I felt so excited. I would also like to congratulate LEGOPanama, who first welcomed me into the LMBs with a reply to one of my posts. Last but certainly not least, I would like to congratulate Gracelw1, Dolphinluvr16, RLROCKS18, and everyone in the LEGO Friends Forum who allowed a LEGO Friends fanboy to hang out there. I will always remember your names, your avatars, and what you did for me. Thank you!
9. If you could change one thing about the LMBs what would it be and why?
One thing I would change is the reply button. Sometimes I forget to use the quote button, so I think an easy way is to automatically have the quote in the reply when you click reply. This will also fix the tablet and mobile issue of not having the quote button.
10. What achievement are you most proud of from your time on the LMBs? What personal achievement are you most proud of?
One of my achievements is to be interviewed, which as I type I have an endless smile. Ever since I saw an interview on the right panel, I saw that that was my next goal. So I am super happy that my goal has been achieved, Thank you! A personal achievement is memorizing the moderators names. I always think to myself "WhiteAlligator, StevensBike, Mojo_Sansibar, umm..., Miakittymoon, IrrationalSeagull, Wildbunchz, umm..., Oceanbella, Koolkanin, Cocodeville, umm..., Aguarios, umm..., JungleDolphin, umm...who am I missing....oh yeah...Keighlian, and...LEGOModerationTeam....umm...Wait, did I see a PurpleAlligator somewhere?" These are the ones I see often, so if there are any other moderators, I can't wait to meet them.
11. If you could create your own custom minifigure what minifigure would you create? What would it look like? What theme would it be for? Why would you choose that design?
Interestingly I already created my custom LEGO minifigure. He has a head with white glasses, smiley face, black hair just like Agent Chase from LEGO Agents, or Chase McCain's hairstyle, a white tuxedo print that I designed myself, a gold ring from Lord of the Rings around his wrist, and plain white pants. No I am not married in real life, but in my LEGO imagination I am.
12. Do you have any superpowers?
I have some superpowers. I have a pretty good prediction power. I correctly predicted the next colored candy in Candy Crush Saga a few times, three of the questions for this interview, and that I would be interviewed after Epicninja1 and MrMaracaMan (Great interview). I also have a pretty good ability to put stuff together. Not only do I make LEGO models, but I also built my own rubber band car out of cardboard and straws, and I also built some other things I don't remember. Sometime in the future I plan to make my own shelves (for my LEGO models), and my own PC (so that I can play Legends of Chima Online and other cool games).
13. What would you like a future poll to be?
If you could have a LEGO power what would it be?
Spinjitsu
Ability to plug in Chi
Build really fast
Turn into a LEGO minifigure
Feeling no pain when stepping on LEGO pieces by accident
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you could invent a new LEGO piece, what would it be and how would you use it?
15. Question from epicninja1: Which LEGO model that you've made are you most happy with?
1. Congrats on reaching rank 14 Conquistador! What is your secret to rank success?
Well funny as it might be getting stuck on rank 11 for about 4 months helped me realize ranks aren’t important. So now I just try to have fun and if I get a new rank great .
2. You are also a Master Builder of Olde. What has been your favorite rank so far and why? What rank are you most looking forward to and why?
I don’t really have a favorite rank but I do like ninja and Aztic warrior a lot. I want whatever the highest rank is the most.
3. When did you first realize you were a big LEGO fan?
Well I started out with duplo when I was 1 and a half and got my first LEGO set when I was 6.
4. What was your very first LEGO set? Who gave it to you? Was it a tough build?
My first set was the Knights’ Kingdom II King Mathias. Well If that doesn’t count then the 2006 LEGO city ambulance and the 2005 LEGO city Fire Helicopter. I got King Mathias as a Christmas gift and I bought the ambulance and fire helicopter. None of them were very hard to build.
5. You have been on the LMBs for a long time. What has been your favorite memory so far and why?
I’ve had a lot of good memories. So I’ll share the memories of my first few friends Jimmydean who sadly is going to retired, Also Gideon who I met at that highland battler café and the last one I will mention is M4Jesus where we met at the ninja café and we teamed up with them.
6. What user has made the biggest impact on you and why?
Lots of users made a big impact on me I’ll name a few Diglett809, M4Jesus, Gideon F210, Pacman87 Benboy755 and a whole lot more.
7. If you were a Mod for a day what would you do and why?
If I was mod for a day, I would make it so you can see how many like you gave and got on your profile. Because it would be more useful then looking on the leaderboard to see how many likes you got. I guess it’s more what I would change then what I would do as a mod. Oh well.
8. If you had an unlimited supply of LEGO bricks what would you build and why?
If I had an unlimited supply I would build a whole animal ecosystem. Because well I just love animals.
9. What advice can you give to new user hoping to be a longstanding, awesome member of the community like you?
Keep on post\liking etc. It doesn’t matter if you’re famous or not just have fun.
10. What kind of posts do you “like” and why?
Um well I hope you mean what post I like to give likes to and not something else. I like giving likes to post that are funny or that I agree on.
11. Outside of the LMBs, what is your favorite hobby and why?
Computer games, learning about animals, looking at them, finding them in my yard and of course playing with LEGO.
12. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
Don’t have one. But (sometimes) I do have crazy hand-eye coordination.
13. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you were about to be attack and all you have is LEGO, what’s the first thing you build and why?
14. Question from 14padme: If you were falling off a cliff and could only wish for a pile of one kind of LEGO brick to cushion your landing what would it be?
One of the jaw pieces from one of the dragon’s from ninjago because it’s the “softest” LEGO pieces I can think of. If it has to be a brick and not any pieces then the standard 2x2 red LEGO brick.
1. Congratulations on being a member of the very first Community Helper team! How did you feel when you first learned that you had been chosen?
I was super excited when I found out. This has been one of the best experiences on the LEGO Message Boards. It was super cool that I got to do it with Pyangsi, Skul, AND Diglett since they're some of my good friends. I was so curious before I opened the email! My first thought was...is it an interview? But then I saw the subject. When I opened it - I was so excited, I was jumping around and everything! I was excited to learn more about it as well.
2. What was the best part of your term as a Community Helper? What was the trickiest part?
I really enjoyed getting to look at certain forums every day or week, and that I got to experience a few other forums and environments that I wasn't active in. It was fun giving updates like what's going on and such. The trickiest part was REMEMBERING to check the forums And writing the detailed updates.
3. What advice can you give to other community members hoping to become a Community Helper one day?
Hmm....I'd say that if you are feeling overwhelmed - tell WhiteAlligator about it She's super helpful and maybe a more active Community Helper could take over a few forums for you. Also, it's really special that you are chosen! So good for you if you are! ^_^ Also - don't be afraid to let WA know that there's some fights or rude/mean people. Even if it's someone you know, they wanna keep the message boards a safe and friendly place! Which is really cool, cause otherwise I wouldn't be able to be allowed on!
4. Are you looking forward to the 2015 Golden Brick Awards? What award category are you hoping to be nominated for and why?
Yes, I am! The Golden Brick Awards were really cool last year, and it was so cool that some of my best friends got nominated (Abbe and Diglett even won!!!)! It was cool that there's another new special thing that the mods made! The Message Boards is a really interactive website. And the GBAs just explain how interactive it really is! Hmm...I guess it would be cool to be nominated for Most Helpful User or Coolest Sig! I love being artistic and helpful. I hope that I see some more great users recognized in the awards here in 2015! I also love how it's not a big popularity contests like other virtual world or website awards. It's really the moderators' decision and they pick users who really deserve it!
5. Other than Community Chat, where you hang out a lot, what is your favorite forum and why?
Yes, it's not hard to see that I'm quite active on the Community Chat forum My other favorite forum...that's super hard. I LOVE LEGO Friends (especially one/two years ago) because of the friendly environment and the cool roleplays and discussions. It's where I've made some of my best friends like Gracelw1 and Dolphinluvr18 who are sadly retired and inactive It's still a great place now, though! I love seeing the new users who come! There are a lot of newbies that arrive at that topic and I hope that they stay and get to know the MBs like I have! Was that too cheesy? Other than that, I love Message Boards Help and Suggestions. It's cool reading ideas that users have about new things that LEGO.com should get, and the amazing sig shops. People amaze me with their HTML and block letters! (Something that confuses me to no end )
6. You are active in the Disney Princess forum. If you could be any Disney Princess which would you be and why?
Yeah! Thanks to the Community Helper Program, I am more active. I love it so much, there are a lot of cool discussions going on...quizzes, roleplays, I love the topics where you list your favorites! If I could be any Disney Princess (This might be my favorite question ever ), I would be Ariel. I love the Little Mermaid (I'm a huge Disney fan!!!), and I think I'm really similar to Ariel. We're both really curious and want to explore more! We both love to daydream too. And I would love to sing Part of Your World since I sing it all the time anyway
7. What is the most challenging project you’ve had in school this year? What made it so tough?
Hmm...well I am homeschooled as most of you know. This year there was a lot more work for sixth grade. That was probably a big challenge with the workload......I think that math was challenging this year with the new algebra and decimals and all that stuff. I loved it, though! It was tough, since it was kind of a new thing for me. It takes a bit longer than last year, too. But I'm a huge fan of school, so even if something's hard - I still enjoy it!
8. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and why did you choose them? If not, what kinds of pets do you wish you had?
I don't have any pets, actually. We used to have a few, though! If I could have any pet....a hamster would be nice because they stay in cages so they wouldn't make your house all messy. They're super fun and cute to watch. And they're so soft....I also like fish! They're easy to take care of and you can get really cool aquariums and decor. They look so artistic. And last would be a robot. That cleans my room. And does my hair. And plays board games with me. And reads me all the new posts on the topics I post in. AND plays video games, board games, and card games with me. That would be the most epic thing ever!!!!
9. If you could create a life-size LEGO model of anything what would it be and why?
Ooh, I'd say a really huge mansion. That way I could move in! Although the beds and chairs would be really uncomfortable to sit in. But it would be really cool to have sleepovers in The food probably wouldn't taste so good. All that plastic. Other than that, I know this sounds weird but - my bedroom. And a giant life-size minifigure of me!!!!! I could make me sleep, make me make breakfast... Ooh, food sounds good right now!
10. If you were a Mod for the day what would you do and why?
Good question! I would probably moderate I would love to make some new programs like the Golden Bricks and the Community Helpers! And make a lot of new games and such. It'd be really fun to moderate though to be honest. You could read conversations, get to leave them little messages when you reject them. And just help users! The moderators are so helpful that it'd be cool to answer users' questions and stuff. You could even lock topics, mwahahahaha! Time to get out my ban hammer
11. What has been your most memorable moment during your time in the community? Why?
This is gonna be a really long answer....I have quite a few. My most memorable one would be joining the Munch Munch Cafe. I met these amazing users that I always look back to the conversations I had with them. My best friend on the whole LEGO Message Boards (he's retired.) would be TannerJ2598. He was so nice, funny, and I was even his adopted newbie. He helped me a lot! WarioMan56, Legored11, and Diglett were so amazing as well. Before I joined the message boards, I didn't have any friends in real life that were boys really. But most of my friends here ARE boys! Now the topic I'm most active in is the Secret Sister Society and Undercover Brothers Chat where Pony, Liv, Abbe, Rex, Wolf, Tim, TLN, Andy, EpicTruth, Aqua, and WAY more are my greatest friends! ^_^ The LEGO Moderators have been a great memory too. Without them being trained adults that moderate our posts to make sure they're appropriate - I wouldn't be allowed to be on here! I'm super thankful for them, because this is the only website where I feel safe and it's a fun friendly environment.
12. Do you participate in any of the LEGO.com galleries? If so, which ones? If not, which one might you join in the future?
I am on the LEGO Friends Gallery 24/7! Again, I've made a ton of friends there! Not only is it a great place to watch artists (amazing ones!), editors, and master builders - but everybody's friends. Wherever you look there is so much kindness going on. I've become a better artist and more serious about it because of these amazing people I met! I've posted so many things there and I'm glad I have! I also frequently check the LEGO.com gallery and the Disney Princess Gallery. I love the LEGO.com gallery because there's so many amazing creations that people have built! How in the world do they have so many bricks?! It's fun seeing everybody's creative side - and I know that some of these people are gonna grow up to become LEGO designers or something! It really is more about LEGOS then art or anything like that. And the Disney Princess Gallery is amazing too! I'm a huge fan of Disney, so it's fun seeing my favorite Disney Princesses featured in my friends' creations!
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
Talking SUPER fast. Talking a lot that people get bored. Speed reading. (I didn't say I could comprehend it ) Getting my room so messy. Ta da! RLROCKS to the rescue!
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you could be trapped inside ANY LEGO set, what would it be and why?
15. Question from galijb – “If you had complete creative control over a LEGO theme… What would it be, and what would you do?”
Great question, galijb! I would love to have control over LEGO Friends. It's my favorite set - and I'm sure I could think up some ideas for future sets! Maybe new characters too that appeal to some more personalities! It'd be fun to come up with new bricks and designs. Maybe new ways to connect bricks?
Interview with Model Designer Michael. Words from WA: "The last in our employee interview series is the epicly awesomesauce LEGO designer Michael!
In his inspiring interview Michael brings you behind the scenes of his life as a designer for the LEGO Movie theme and shares amazing tips on how you too can be a LEGO designer!
Check out the terrific interview below!"
1. You’re a LEGO designer and even got to work on designing parts of The LEGO Movie! That’s awesome! Are all of your friends super jealous that you’re so awesome?
Of course all my friends are super jealous, but are also super proud. Most of my close friends are also designers themselves and I have met them throughout my design education and career over the last 10 years. They have all seen how hard I’ve worked and know themselves what it takes to work at this level. I don’t think anybody thought 10 years ago that Michael Fuller would be working on Movies in Holly wood, I certainly didn’t, every day you must remember why you love what you do, where you came from and just how lucky you are.
2. How long have you been a LEGO designer?
6 beautiful years!
3. How did you become a LEGO designer? Did you get a special education to qualify for the job?
I was fortunate enough to gain an internship with LEGO when I was just 20, I spent a year working with the company during my Industrial Design studies, once my education was complete I came back to the company full time. Industrial designers are qualified to design all sorts of products you would use every day, but in my opinion toys design is of the most fun industries to work within. I was always a ‘creative type’ from a very young age, I couldn’t stop building things, scribbling on everything, or even sit still for very long (not much has changed), my advice to all is peruse what inspires you the most, this is what you will naturally excel in.
4. Was The LEGO Movie your first project or have you worked on other themes too?
I began my career at LEGO as a Model designer working on CITY, Indiana Jones and Star Wars before moving into concept work, innovating new and exciting worlds, models and characters to inspire awesome play. The LEGO movie is definitely what I’m best known for and where I had most creative direction, I dedicated 3 years of my life to it and it will always have a huge place in my heart. It’s not just a movie or a collection of toys to me, it’s been a huge part of my life, I eat, sleep and breathe LEGO Movie.
5. What is your absolute favorite memory from working on TLM?
Seeing the finished product! A huge amount of people spent years working on individual aspects of this movie, each giving it everything they had without knowing how it was all going to come together. Of course I saw the movie develop step by step but watching it on the big screen for the first time was pretty emotional, watching it come to life and hearing the laughter and joy fill the cinema…what a pay off.
6. If you could be any TLM character who would you be and why?
If I could be anybody it would be Metalbeard, the ultimate master builder capable of creating brick built masterpieces for any challenge that comes his way!....but if I’m honest I’m probably more like Benny, full of energy, full of ideas, always ready to help……but not always aware of what day of the week it is.
7. What is the best part of being a LEGO designer? What is the toughest part?
An endless supply of LEGO of course! Isn’t this everybody’s dream?......the biggest challenge is always to go bigger and better. All the designers have grown up with LEGO and have their own memories of the models that blew their minds and themes that they could get lost in for hours, not only do we want to recreate this for the next generation but we want to take it to the next level. We have to protect the fun factor that we’ve experienced ourselves and bring it to the next generation……’with great power, comes great responsibility’.
8. What advice can you give to young builders hoping to be set designers like you one day?
Never grow up (too much), you guys, the builders of today are my biggest inspiration, your minds are free from restrictions and your ideas are amazing, the power of free thought is key when innovating new and exciting toys, the mind of a child is the expert. Of course a design education will help you gain the key skills required but your free thinking playful mind is the best tool in coming up with the next awesome LEGO theme.
9. Answer quickly: winter or summer? Ice cream or cake? Cats or dogs? TV or movies? Writing or drawing? Play sports or watch them? Building instructions or free build?
Summer, ice cream, dogs, movies (obvs), DRAWING, DRAWING, DRAWING, watching…..although even this makes me tired, free build…..it’s my job.
10. Do you have any super powers?
The power of the ‘mindwonder’, I can be having an important conversation with somebody, then, by using my mind alone, I can switch off and drift to a happy place full of wacky ideas and crazy concepts. Then once more, using only my mind, I can re enter the conversation, nodding my head looking as if I have been listening the whole time…..an important skill in never taking life too seriously.
1. You are kind of new to the community. Welcome! What inspired you to join us?
Well, I was becoming more and more obsessed with LEGO, and I felt rather sad that I didn't really know anybody as obsessed as I was. At the same time, I was becoming more and more interested in Neoclassic Space, and because of this I began researching it on the internet. In the process, I discovered lots of online LEGO fan communities, and some of the people seemed just as LEGO-obsessed as I was. So I began to think about joining one. But all the Lego fan communities I'd come across just didn't feel right. They seemed more for adults than for children. And then I stumbled across the Message Boards. After a week or two of looking around without actually posting anything (I'd like to apologize for reading jammers in this period—I didn't even know what they were at the time), I slowly began to participate. And I started participating more and more—and now I'm here.
2. What is your favorite aspect of the community so far?
Oo, that's a tough one. I guess it'd have to be the stories and the writers. I really enjoy writing, and I think it's really cool that the Message Boards allows writers to share their stories and get feedback and all that. Having readers makes you write more. And being able to encourage other writers is really fun.
3. Which user has inspired you the most and why?
I'd have to say ArghYeMatey. I really look up to him. His writing is absolutely amazing (if you don't believe me, check out his story A Cold Affair on the Castle forum), and he's a really nice, friendly user. He's the sort of user I'd want to be some day.
4. You’re a story writer. How do you get inspiration for your stories? What tips do you have for aspiring LMB story writers?
Hm...Well, I suppose to root of all my inspiration is the works of J.R.R Tolkien. He's basically the father of modern fantasy. As for the inspiration for each of my stories, that's a bit more difficult matter. Most of the time, they're inspired by a thought or a conversation, "What would happen if you combined space and fantasy?" or "If magic did exist, what would it actually be like?" I'm also a visual thinker, so occasionally I get a picture in my head that inspires a story. And sometimes I just sit down and stuff just starts coming out. It really all depends. As for tips for other writers, well, let me think... First of all, try to include lots of description, but not too much. You want to make people feel like they're really there, like the story's a real place. And, in order to do that, you've got to describe things. And with the magic of the written word, you can stress certain objects or feelings in a way you can't actually do in a movie or in real life. You can tell a story through the eyes of your characters. Another important thing is to give your story a good plot, and make it seem believable. You've got to think about the motives and personalities of your characters, "Why is he doing this?" or "What does he really want from all this?". And, most importantly, I feel that stories should really have something to them that makes them more than just a haphazard tale of wandering. Your readers need reasons to connect emotionally with your characters. You need to tell a story that's actually going to connect with people, to resound in them. And that's really hard. When I'm able to do that, I'll actually be able to call myself a writer. Anyway, I think I've made this answer too long already.
5. You are super active in the Castle forum. What is your favorite thing about the castle theme? Are you a big fan of that time period in history?
There's two Lego themes I like most—Castle and Space. I may even like space more, but considering there isn't one ultimate "Space forum", I resort to the Castle forum (I am, however, a member of the Classic Space Fan Club in the Classics forum). Also, my favourite kind of fiction has got to be fantasy (at least I think so), and the Castle forum is where I can read fantasy stories. And I'm not a huge fan of most science fiction (aside from Star Wars), so even if there was a space forum, I probably wouldn't find a lot of stories I liked there. Also, I'm just a huge fan of Lego Castle. I'm really "in to" older Lego themes (from the 80s and early 90s), and the Castle theme is really the last theme that still sort of feels like the older ones. And, again, I'm just a medieval/fantasy sort of a person.
6. Do you participate in any of the LEGO.com galleries? If so, which ones? If not, any plans to?
Yes, I definitely do. I'm still trying to figure out the majority of the Galleries and how they work, and so I currently only use the Lego.com Gallery. I have several medieval creations, but actually most of my creations on the Gallery are Neoclassic Space ones (because of my membership in the Classic Space Fan Club, which I greatly enjoy). For all my creations, I've used Lego Digital Designer.
7. What is the coolest LEGO set you’ve ever built? What was so awesome about it?
Ooo. That's tough. If I can include Lego Digital Designer stuff, I'd have to say Zixius Base, a Neoclassic Space base I put together. It's got some great wall detailing, and it was my first creation that really looked good. My physical Lego collection is another matter. I almost never take anything apart, so I mostly have mediocre creations from when I was younger. However, I do have a one-man spaceship ("Alec's Spaceship") I built fairly recently which turned out rather nicely.
8. Tell us three interesting facts about you that we don’t already know.
Hmm... Well, firstly, I'm an amateur graphic designer. Secondly, I do a tad of programming (mostly "interactive fiction"). And thirdly, I've taken piano lessons twice, still haven't really figured it out, and now I want to learn guitar.
9. Answer quickly: Baseball or basketball? Hot or cold? Dinner or dessert? Yellow or green? Zoo or aquarium? Small town or big city? Book or magazine? TV or movie? Rain or snow? Quiet or loud? Apples or oranges?
10. You seem to be a Star Wars fan. Are you excited for the new movie coming out this year? What do you think it will be like?
Yes, I am a dedicated Star Wars fan (if you could see my physical Lego collection, you'd notice that at once). I am both excited and apprehensive about the new movie. I'm really curious to see what they'll do with it, and I'm really hoping they don't totally bomb it. I personally wonder if it's going to feel like a Star Wars movie, or if it's going to feel totally different. Even if it's poorly done, I hope it actually feels like a Star Wars movie.
11. If you could be any minifigure for a day who which you be and why?
Hmm... I'm not terribly versed in Lego minifigures. Maybe an M:Tron guy (look it up). They have some awesome vehicles and they don't steal other people's technology or spend all their time chasing after the people who do. I'm not really a brave (or strong) sort of person, so that'd be my kind of job. And getting to play around with all those robots and magnets would be quite fun. Either that or perhaps a Forester. Living in the woods would be fun. Except they normally stole stuff, and I wouldn't want to be doing that... So maybe a blacksmith or a peasant or a peaceful Lion Knight/Crusader. But probably an M:Tron guy.
12. What question do you wish we asked in this interview? What is the answer to that question?
If you could bring back a discontinued theme, what would it be, and why would you choose it? And I'd say... Blacktron or Foresters! Blacktron had some of the greatest spaceships, and for once I'd actually be able to buy Lego spaceships (aside from Star Wars ones) that'd I really like. And Foresters was a really unique and really awesome theme, and I think every modern Castle theme has really needed it. The modern castle themes lack the depth of the elder ones, simply because they're so linear and so basic—"Here's the good guys, and here's the bad guys". There's no room for inventing your own stories. And the Foresters would add a middle faction who's actions would be really up to you. They'd add the depth which Lego Castle really needs. The room for creativity. And having three factions instead of two would make the whole thing more believable and more interesting.
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
Superpowers? I don't know about that... Well, due to a medical disorder I have abnormally stretchy skin. And I can read very quickly. And I think in images, which apparently most people don't.
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you could invent your own Lego theme, what would it be about?
15. Question from karateduo1 – “What is your favorite discontinued LEGO color?”
I don't know... I don't know a lot of old Lego colors... Perhaps the neon orange or neon green from Blacktron. I don't think they make those anymore. Or perhaps the old grey. I can't think of a discontinued Castle-y color, because Castle generally just used the colors that were around...
Interview with Skulduggery773 (The one you've all been waiting for ) Words from WA: "An interviewee that really needs no introduction ... skulduggery773!
A Revolutionary Soldier with over 85,000 posts, skulduggery773 is a wellknown roleplayer, story writer, and all-around LMB fanatic.
Check out his legendary interview below"
1. You are considered to be a pretty famous message boards user. How does it feel to be a kind of community celebrity? Do your friends and family in real life know?
I cannot really describe how it feels to be a 'community celebrity'. It's...very strange. Some days I really do notice the difference it makes with how people treat me or how I'm talked about and I do feel special, and other days I don't really feel that, but I don't mind. Overall, it is quite cool and it does make me happy. =D
As for my friends/family knowing...they don't. When asked what I do in my spare time, I do respond 'foruming' (as that is now a verb ) but I never go into specifics about it or this site. My parents are aware I have used the MBs but don't know how much or about how many people know me. My brother JumpyNinjaJunior does know and has posted, so I suppose he's the only person who really knows.
2. What is the story behind your very unique username?
Well, originally I just made Skulduggery77 for LEGO Universe. Skulduggery because of Skulduggery Pleasant, my favourite book series, and 77 because of random numbers. After that was deleted, I added the 3 for this account because 3 is my favourite number; I often end up with the number 3 being assigned to me, and when I played ice hockey for the last year my number was 3, and that was a good year for me, so yeah...
3. Exactly how long have you been in the LEGO.com message boards community? How did you first learn about the community? What made you want to join?
Well, actually, I made my first MB-ing account exactly three years ago from the day I'm writing this, to play LU. I didn't post until early 2012, January 3rd is the earlier post I can find that I wrote. I really began posting to try and stay in contact with my LU friends after it closed, and when that didn't work, I moved to the MB forum and met people like Marcel and Alemas and then things kind of...happened.
4. What has been your greatest accomplishment here? Why?
I couldn't tell you because it depends how I'm feeling. I suppose being the most liked user or having over 100,000 posts could be considered the best, but those don't matter to me as much as I used to. I think stories have been my greatest achievement; particularly the three stories A Kingdom of Mods, Trial and War, and To Conquer. I just wasn't able to write properly in over a year and those three helped me start writing more again and they didn't turn out too badly if you ask me.
5. What user has inspired you the most? Why?
Oh dear. Who inspired me most? That is an incredibly hard question because it really depends how you mean. Marcel and other users who were active early 2012 (I always remember Marcel for some reason, but really any active user around then... ) inspired me to post a lot, which started it all. But other users have inspired me in other ways, I guess. Dwarfy always was kind of an inspiration for me just because he was always able to keep his cool and still manage to post great things even when it wasn't a particularly happy subject. I think Superseaturtle and other users who wrote in the Star Wars forum kind of inspired me to write my first half-decent story there, which led to MB forum stories, which in turn let to the MB story forum, and then a few others... LegoTheTerrible inspired me to eat more pizza. Benny inspired me to be a lunatic. EVERYONE INSPIRES ME.
6. You were recently named one of the very first members of the Community Helper program. Congrats! How did you feel when you found out? What’s it like being a member of the Community Helper team?
Well, I was kind of surprised (pleasantly, of course ) when I received the email. I was curious too, of course, about who else would be involved, what would be involved, etc. I was also standing at a bus stop at the time on the way to school. Overall, I think the CHP is cool, and I've also had some ideas for how it could be developed further and used in different ways.
7. What are three tips you would give to new community members hoping to be as awesome as you one day?
Tough luck kids, you can't be as cool as me.
Just kidding! Three tips, eh? Well...talk to me. Because I know people. And the people I know know people. And the people they know know even more people...
1. DON'T SPAM. I know how stereotypical that sounds, but I learned the hard way that if you spam, no one likes you. For a lonnnggg while. Not saying that if you post a lot that's bad, but if you clog everywhere not really saying anything it bothers people. And in the end, its actually far more interesting to get involved in decent conversations.
2. WRITE STORIES AND ROLEPLAY. This is the equivalent of teachers telling you to get involved in as many clubs at school as possible because you'll meet new people and enjoy school more. There are a lot of really cool users that hide in the story and roleplay forums and going there will let you meet them and that can really change how you experience the MBs. =)
3. DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY. Seriously. Best advice I can give. Just be positive about things and people will like you. I like positive people. You like positive people. We ALL like positive people.
8. Tell us three things about you we probably don’t already know.
*Cure 'The More You Know'*
Three things you didn't know about me? Hm, I'm fairly open about myself on the boards, so this'll be hard...
I'm a hockey fan. I know, I'm Canadian and so you expect that, but even by Canadian standards I used to be a little bit crazy...not so bad now. When I was younger I had over 2,000 hockey cards...I think that was the last count. And my bedside lamp has the Ottawa Senator's logo. And so does the only wallet I've ever used. And so does many of my hats.... (goodbye Alfie )
I haven't posted about this in a while, but I know quite a few users know it; over the summer of 2013 I wrote an 105,000 word novel that only I have actually read through because I'm too awkward to share any more than a few chapters with my family.
People call me a vampire in real life because my skin is really white...and my lips are apparently really red...but I'm blond. BLOND PEOPLE CAN'T BE VAMPIRES.
....so naturally, letting me bite you can't cause any problems, can it?
Sorry, I really had a hard time, I tell everyone everything...
9. What is your favorite memory from your entire time on the LEGO.com message boards? Why?
HAVEN'T YOU ASKED ME ENOUGH HARD QUESTIONS?!? My favourite MB memory? That's reallllyyyyy hard. I've had so many. I can't think of a specific time individually that's been really really special to me...if I had to name a PERIOD of time, I'd say May-August 2012. The Summer of '12 was generally just fun. The Speedy Seven, Benboy's Chatroom...I just had a lot of fun over that time becoming friends with a lot of users. ^_^
10. What career do you hope to have in the future? Why did you choose that career?
My future career? Well, I've put a lot of thought into that. Honestly, the only career that would really make me happy would be being an author. Writing is really my favourite thing to do...except lie in bed in the morning when I don't have to go anywhere. That's becoming my new thing to do every day.
...of course, being an author is very hard, so my backup plan is something in psychology. Psychology, generally the human mind, really fascinates me. Particularly what makes people think what they think, and what causes them to think the way they think. It just is something that I think about a lot.
11. What was the last LEGO set you built? What did you think of it?
That was quite a while ago, as I fear I'm a bit too 'old' for LEGO now in the views of the modern world. But I do remember building it, I think it was the 7965 Millennium Falcon. Fairly certain it's that set. That was a while ago...really cool set though. =) I liked building it, and it took me longer to build than a lot of the other sets I got around that time...
12. Answer quickly: round bricks or square bricks? Fruits or vegetables? Breakfast or dinner? Cats or dogs? Trees or flowers? Scary movie or funny movie? Hot or cold? Super heroes or super villains?
Square bricks. Fruits. =D Dinner! Dogs! Trees! Hard one...funny, I guess. Hot! Super villain!
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
Of course I have superpowers. Haven't you read Powers? I'm the Like Magnet.
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
Hm...I need to read more interviews, I don't want to steal someone's question.... How about...
Is there any song in particular that makes you think about LEGO or the MBs?
I know that's similar to KoF's question, but when I read Q#14 that was the first thing I thought of... It's probably already been asked.
15. Question from knightoffaith - What is your favorite music released by LEGO? Doesn't need to be an original song, it could be one they've used (ie Cryoshell).
I haven't actually heard a lot of music released by LEGO...so I have to say Everything is Awesome. How awkward.
1. You have a great username! What’s the story behind it?
Thank you! When I first heard about the Lego website, I really wanted to get an account on it. My parents said that would be a good idea. My mom and I tried to come up with a good username. We had different ideas for one. My mom is really good at names, so she suggested BrickFriendForever. We both agreed on that one. It's supposed to be like best friend forever, but it has "brick" instead of "best".
2. Your avatar is also really fancy. How did you decide on its design?
I am really into matching clothes together, and designing clothing on drawings. When I saw you could create your avatar, I got really excited! My favorite color is red, and the red shirt looked really pretty. It reminded me of one of my outfits. I made the pants red like the shirt to make it look like a dress.
3. You’re a big LEGO Friends fan. What is your favorite thing about Friends and why?
Yes, I really love LEGO Friends! I like it best for the people, activities, and the gallery. The users on it are fun and nice. We all share the same favorites and dislikes. The users are super creative. I enjoy seeing all of their creations and just seeing them posting cheerfully. There are so many activities on Lego Friends, such as quizzes, downloads, and crafts. I enjoy taking quizzes for fun. I like how they show your favorite Lego Friend of the day, your personality, your future career, and more. The downloads are also fun for me to do if I am bored. There are lots of coloring pages and songs to get. The craft tutorial videos are super cool for holidays and friendly gifts. I like how they are so easy to make, and how you just need household things to make them. The gallery is a great place for you to show creations and just have fun. You can build anything out of your imagination. I like how the moderators are doing their job by protecting the gallery from inappropriate things. I love to hang out on LegoFriends.com and check out all the new things.
4. What is your favorite Friends set and why?
My favorite Lego Friends sets that I own are Olivia's house and the Heartlake pool. Olivia's house has so many rooms and cool accessories. It reminds me of a doll house, but smaller and Lego instead. It is a small Lego Friends set, but big enough and so fun to play with. The characters, Peter, Anna, and Olivia, are perfect for the set. The Heartlake pool is my other favorite set. I really love swimming, so this set interests me a lot. Some of the pieces are really cool, like the sliding board. It looks so neat and is perfect to use! Other things I like in the set are the stickers and the diving board. If stickers come with the set, I love it! I like putting the stickers on pieces. It makes the set extra fun to build.
5. If you could design your own Friends character what would their name, appearance, and characteristics be?
That's a great question, because I just made my own character! My Lego Friends character name would be April. She has blue eyes and long, braided, brown hair. She is the same height as the others. She is seventeen, the same age as the girls. April has a blue skirt with a white shirt. Her shirt has a big blue heart in the middle. Under her skirt is long white pants going to down in her black boots. She is into almost everything the girls like, so that makes her pretty popular around them. She plays the piano, violin, and the flute. She helps Andrea with music, Emma with designing, exploring and inventing with Olivia, food ideas for Stephanie, and horseback riding with Mia. April is always busy helping Heartlake city's people. She loves being around friends and visiting family.
6. You also post in the LEGO Elves forum. What do you think of the Elves theme? Do you have any of the sets?
I think the Elves theme was such a good idea for girls who are into fantasy, like me. I am really hoping that the Elves website will have a gallery soon. I love how the Lego Elves have different powers and personalities. My favorite elf would have to be Naida. Like I said before, I really enjoy swimming, so I like her more. Her personality is like mine. The Elves theme is so cool, and I can't wait for more upgrades to come. I do not have any of the sets yet, but I am hoping to get some for my birthday. The way you made Lego Elves is so exciting and makes me want to visit the website and forum over and over again!
7. What career do you hope to have when you are older and why?
What a fun question! I hope to be a Lego designer or a story writer. Every day I have so many ideas for new sets and start building them. Someday I hope to share my ideas with the Lego designers and see what they think. It would also be cool to actually meet the designers behind Lego sets! If that option doesn't work, then I would go to story writing. So far I've written Lego Friends stories like Jane Thunder, Olivia's World, Lego Friends: Lost in the Whispering Woods, and the Lego Friends Mysteries. My brothers, sisters, and parents think I am a good writer, which encourages me to write more. I can't wait to get to the age where I can try out my dream careers.
8. What is your favorite subject in school and why?
First of all, I am home-schooled. My favorite subjects in school are Math and writing. I am not a genius at Math, but I really like to solve all of the questions in it. My favorite kind of questions are story ones. They have a story of people or things that have to do with Math, and I try to write and figure them out. Writing, of course, is my top favorite subject in school. My mom gets silly writing topics from websites for me. Some of the writing assignments are like this: If an alien visited your home, how would you show them around? They are fun to answer because they are really funny and simple. These subjects will probably always be my favorite until I am finished with school.
9. If you could chat with a LEGO set designer what would you want to tell them? What would you want to ask them?
That would be so cool! I would tell them how I am a big fan of their Lego sets they make. I love to play with them every day. I would ask them questions like: Is it hard to come up with a Lego set idea? Which Lego theme sets do you most like to design? Do you get help from other people when you are designing, or do you do it by yourself? What kind of food do you like? How long have you been working for Lego? Are you planning on retiring from Lego designing in the future? If I ever get to have a tour to the Lego designing factory, these would be the questions I would ask a Lego designer.
10. What is your hidden talent and how did you get so good at it?
My hidden talent is writing. A long time ago I would always complain and say how I couldn't write at all, but I never even tried it. I did other things that I was not really good at. Once I sat down and started writing stories, I realized that I enjoyed doing it. I make a lot of stories now that I found my true talent. I still write to this day, and get better at it all the time.
11. What is your favorite memory from the LEGO Message Boards so far? Why?
My memory of the LMBs is when I made my How Much Do You Love Lego Quiz. My Lego quiz was my first topic that got so many likes and comments. It made me happy that people cared about my topic. It was really fun writing down user's answers and seeing the percentage of how much they loved Lego. I also liked when you, the Mods, put it on the recommendation list on the Lego Home Page. It made me feel so happy inside, because it showed how people care about my posts.
12. Choose quickly: TV or movies? Past or future? Aquarium or zoo? Computer or tablet? Cat or dog? Hot or cold? Apple or orange? Hero or villain? Day or night? Free build or instructions?
Movies, Past, Aquarium, Computer, Cat, Cold, Orange, Hero, Night, Free build! Since I don't have TV, my only option is movies. Aquariums are so cool and aren't so loud as zoos. My Tablet broke, so the computer is my only electronic device. I own a cat, and she is adorable! Apples and oranges are good, but oranges are juicier. What would the world be like if villains took over the world? Totally on the hero side! In the day, there are dozens of cars zooming past our house like crazy! I prefer the night because there aren't so many vehicles going by, and the night is just plain fun. Free build is awesome! That way I can just build things out of my imagination.
13. Do you have any superpowers? If so, what are they?
I have a good and bad super power. My good super power is cleaning everything! If there is even a speck of dust, it is my duty to clean it up super fast. My niece, three years old, is sometimes the enemy. She creates an explosion of toys and food and a big mess everywhere! I must clean it up before it gets even worse. My bad super power is fighting and being a little sneaky. I always fight with my brothers, which is wrong. I can't help it at all. The evil goes through me too fast, and I can't stop it! I get tempted to do things, like go in rooms I am not supposed to go in! I have to control my evil, and let my good power grow larger. If I did have a real super power, it would be flying and breathing under water. I could save the world by flight, or save the world by swimming. Someday I hope I fall into a barrel of super water that makes me have the ability to fly and swim!
14. What LEGO-related question do you have for the next interviewee?
If you were a Lego minifigure and could live in any Lego theme you wanted, which one would it be and why?
15. Question from JosephTraynor – “If you could jump to any rank you want, which one would it be and why?”
Good question! I would really like to become rank 23, the pilot. That would be so cool! I enjoy flight as well, so the pilot rank would suit my avatar perfectly.
