And I agree about the conspiracy thing, it's just that they're definitely not alive. It actually shows Beatrice's grave in the show, which was written by Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket's associate, friend, and personal representative in all legal affairs)
{JAMMERS! back back ba... yknow what, just back} The show is actually waaaaay more accurate. As I said, it was written by Handler, and although it does have some extra stuff that wasn't in the books, I like to think that's just the result of some more recent research on Mr. Snicket's part.
