My suggestion it to take the old ones and make them look 3D.
If you mean like make mine look more 3D by adding more contrast and such, yea I thought of that. Or did you mean taking the original LMB emotes and putting them in something like Blender?
Piff, the quality of the art is not solely baised on the device you use along but the artist's skill level. ... Though it does help. I've mentioned all this on the LEGO Gallery and my art site before, so yeah if you want to cheat you may find your answers....
And no. There's no way I can afford that exspinsive program! It's like $100 a year....
And I'm still trying to save up for TV Paint....
That too Do I look like someone who would bother doing that Really, I never realised
Never heard of it
Regardless, I still want you to go look at my artwork. ... I like it when people see it and give feedbacks.
I mean, the main one that has animation capacities is REALLY exspinsive... at least for me....
OOOH! It's this SUPER COOL Traditional style animation program! I have the demo version and just LOVE IT! It feels so natural to draw in compaired to my experience with ToonBoom Harmony. (Though that's a good program too, I just prefer traditional style to puppet animation.) The standard version of TV Paint is equivalent to $560 while TV Paint Pro is more like $1200.... Still a lot for my little budget....

The second one.
But what about my art?! Plus I'd have to redo it anyway in some way or another. I can still make them look more 3D with my painting.
So we are coming up with new ranks then? I think we should do ranks based on status rather than minifigure like the old ones if we do:).
We are either coming up with new rank names or I'm just gunna have to redo all the artwork. Either way I'll still probably do the art for it unless someone else steps up?
We could redo the artwork, but if we did, it should be for the old ranks. Or we can make new ones. I don't care either way. I vote that you do the artwork;).

I'd like to show you something I just made that you might be interested in. Original: New: Thoughts?
Oh, that's kinda pretty. Though as far as using it on this site to replace the old emotes, no. It's obviously just a quick photoshop, and we are trying to be original here. Plus we really can't use the official LEGO dot com assets.
Hmm... Upon first glance, nostalgia and familiarity said "Nope, keep the old ones." But nostalgia and familiarity are stupid criteria, and now that I've kicked those two out the window, I like them. They're a good blend of the originals and what I'd assume is your personal style. My one suggestion would be making them a bit smaller. I already felt like the old ones were a bit big, so making even bigger ones is not a good thing, in my book.
Either way, I like these and think we should use them.
I COMPLETELY know that feeling. I get the same way looking at my emotes too actually. XD I wanted to try and retain the essence of the originals without being a "copy" of them. I'm still thinking about perhaps changeing them just a bit to make them a bit more like the old ones? Main thing I was thinking was adding more contrast to the shadows and make it feel a bit more "3D". What do you think?
And yes... these are most certainly in my own personal style. I don't know if you noticed that I added just a subtle hint of blue for the character's eyes? Kinda like how they have Pikachu techally have brown eyes though in some artwork it can be drawn as black. If you follow what I mean by that? (I can also use different eye colors depending on the emote like a nore red tone for the angry ones.)
I was wondering about the size actually. I was worried if I made them TOO small they would loose their details. They didn't seem to be as sharp as the original emotes are in smaller sizes, on my computer anyway. I'll see what I can do.
Any ideas for other emotes or things you might add? :3
I think you did a good job of remaking them without actually copying them. As for the 3D look, I could go either way. I think they look fine as is, but I don't have much of a mental image of how they would look if they were more 3D.
I definitely noticed the blue in the "nerd" emote's eyes, and I can see it now in the normal smiley as well. It seems like a cool thing to play around with as you develop the others.
Hmm... I can see where you're coming from, but I don't have much input on the matter. it's hard to test on my end.
I think "evil grin" or something of the likes has been suggested already, but that's something I've always wanted.

Thank you. I'm thinking about making come comparisons to see which looks better. for noe these are nice.
Thats because the glasses made his eyes more detailed. Just like real glasses do. ... :tounge:
I follow. I'll made some smoller versions soon.
Someone else suggested that above. I made a mental note to create one. Remind me if I forget.

Seems a tad overkill
Old sci-fi is the best sci-fi! v this is not old sci-fi Maxim 3: An ordnance technician at a dead run outranks everybody. Maxim 24: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from a big gun.
"“Even by the twenty-second century, no way had yet been discovered of keeping elderly and conservative scientists from occupying crucial administrative positions. Indeed, it was doubted if the problem ever would be solved.” ^That, on the other hand, is old sci-fi.

Um, why did you say LEGO dot com instead of LEGO.com:S?
