Yeeeaaahhh, that can be a drawback. That's why I like to listen to things over and over, but I know some people would find that boring. Yeah, I guess there's not a perfect way to get it done. It's just whatever works for each individual.
Sounds like a blast! Yeah, games are easier in general when you can talk to the person you're playing with, instead of typing. Hopefully it'll still be free in August when I get to be an adult and have more liberty to play games.
Two weeks and no reply until today!
Another reason why I prefer reading over listening is because I tend to focus better on the story when reading than when I just listen to it. Just listening to it turns it into background noise than something my brain wants to focus intently on which can be a major drawback.
Indeed they are! They are also more fun in my opinion since you can joke around much more easily as well when talking than typing. Rocket League will still be free in August. It is free permanently, so you can get it whenever you want. Being an adult and having more liberty to play games is both great and also hard because you’ll quickly realize you want to play so many different games, but you don’t have enough free time to play them. I’ve got so many unplayed games in my Steam library that I want to play at some point, but whenever a big sale comes around, my library gets a couple new additions.
Talking on here and getting into my “Lego Nostalgia” has made me want to get back into Legos again. During my two week long absence, I actually ordered a Lego set from the Lego website. After an accidental order switch up (they gave me the Nintendo Entertainment System set instead of the Creator Expert Bookshop set) and a quick and very helpful customer service experience (got everything straightened out within two days with the first response being less than a day after I reported the incident), I got my order last week. I just finished it today as well (I took my time with it to make it last longer than a couple of days).
Welcome back! Glad to see you're not leaving for good.
That's true. It is super easy to tune out the story by mistake. XD It is fun to sit and listen to Sherlock Hollmes and build with Legos tho. (But I've heard those so many times it's no big deal if I miss a few sentences. XP )
Wow, glad you got it sorted easily. Oh! that's a beautiful build! The detail and color is amazing. It makes me wish it was real.
I don't think I've ever formally introduced myself on any iteration of the LMBs, so here we go (probably years too late):
I'm MooCowsRock, also known as MooCowsRock on the old LMBs, and MooCowsRock on the old old LMBs. I don't change a lot of things. =P Other handles I've had are Razzmic Crystal Firebird (from Legends of Chima Online) and Vapor (or Thunder Vapor Falcon, from Minifgures Online). I never played LEGO Universe. It remains to this day one of my greatest regrets. =P
I'm a writer by habit and by trade, but I've never written much on the MBs because the character limit is annoying for long-form works. I might still try anyway. My favorite LEGO line is and probably always will be BIONICLE, the story of which I've more or less lived and breathed since birth. =P I read a decent amount, and also do math through calculus and a tiny bit of linear algebra for fun. I'm also a Christian, a third-degree black belt in Songham taekwondo, and I like to think of myself as being pretty good at jumping.
Random fact: I adopted the =P emoticon from awesomepythor years ago and have continued using it on multiple sites. Like most everyone else who touched the LMBs, I'm irredeemably addicted to using it and its derivatives. =P
Get on one of the darkflame servers and play some LEGO Universe, my dude
How strange. Well, I use Python every day for work, but this seems a lot of effort for a small dose of nostalgia. LEGO Universe, on the other hand, has a much higher dose of nostalgia and is considerably easier. I actually joined a LU private server last month, running Darkflame. I'd been in the habit of checking out whatever private server was going every couple years since the first one went live back in 2014 or so, and I was totally blown away by how they have a fully functional game going. I played as a kid back in 2011, and played enough to get 4 characters to decently high levels and collect most of the rare items. I'm not sure how you'll enjoy the controls playing for the first time now, but it's pretty fun and there are a lot of cool LEGO jokes and some nice throwback items to old themes.
I forgot to reply to this two weeks ago. Yeah, it is a lot of effort to get it up and running, and honestly that’s the reason I decided not to bother. I tried my hand at playing on a LU private server, but I just couldn’t seem to figure out how to do it. I spent a long while researching and looking for tutorials on how to get access and such, but eventually gave up because there wasn’t much to go off of. I did try to join Darkflame, but their website only had one page that was thanking everyone for the support with no menu buttons or anything. As for if I get the chance to play it, I can tolerate the controls and adapt to them relatively quickly. I can always find something to appreciate in a game for the most part. And I don’t compare how games play or look with other more recent games either because I understand that the old games are going to play and look slightly or completely differently from modern games. And jokes are always welcome in my book.
It often takes me a couple days to catch up on posts... I read them once to moderate them then get lazy with writing my responses
If you'd like to give it a try I could get you into the server I play on (disclaimer: not affiliated with the brick boards and not necessarily rated G like the brick boards), they have it set up so you just need to download the patcher then it does the rest... even I could figure it out. Setting up your own server seems super difficult, from what I could tell. Honestly in terms of graphics it's not super far behind the newer games like Skywalker Saga and whatnot. Really, the only grief is the controls, which, as you said, you get used to. Some of the jokes I totally missed as a kid, many reference non LEGO media and not necessarily kid friendly material. It's pretty funny

Thanks! As long as I remember to check here I should still be around.
Interesting combination of listening to Sherlock Holmes and building with Legos. May have to give it a go sometime. Who knows maybe I’ll end up building Baker Street in the process.
Yeah it really is a nice build. Great color and detail and there’s stuff on the inside too but that would have been way too many pictures probably if I showed off everything.

That’s understandable. I’m starting to get into that trend too, but maybe even more lazy/forgetful on my end.
Hey thanks for the offer! That would be great honestly. I’d love to give it a try! Graphics and controls don’t bother me at all. I grew up with an Atari Remastered console that was preloaded with a ton of Atari games when I was younger, so graphics have never been a big thing to me. Jokes are jokes and if a joke makes me laugh or be amused by it then it is a good joke in my book. Even if I don’t get the references I can still appreciate a good joke. Though my sense of humor is riddled with puns, so it doesn’t take much to amuse me. I have a bad sense of humor.

Indeed. Remember that you are always welcome here!
It's a lot of fun. I recommend it. I listen to this podcast that's free on iTunes called Old Time Radio. You should totally do that! It'd be so neat.
Glad you liked it. Lol a pity, but it probably would take to many pics XD

Ok, I'll shoot you a message here, you should be able to see it no problem. Of course, this isn't affiliated with the brick boards at all, but it seems you know your way around the internet

Always good to know that I'm welcome but then again I can always come even if I'm not.
Old Time Radio huh? Is it about Old Timey songs? I can be quite the "old soul" when it comes to stuff before my time.
Yeah it is a pity but I'd rather not have to subject you all to the onslaught of visual graphics in a single post. It'd be very annoying to scroll through.
Here's a random and interesting question. If you were a butterfly where would you fly to?
I know that is probably one of the most random questions ever asked.
That’s understandable. I’m starting to get into that trend too, but maybe even more lazy/forgetful on my end.

Bad jokes are often the best jokes?
Bad jokes can often be the best jokes.
Puns can be quite punny I mean funny you know.
Get ready for possibly one of the most groan worthy joke ever. Why are groundhogs called groundhogs?
Because they hog a whole day of the year for themselves.

Because they hog a whole day of the year for themselves.
They also hog a lot of ground to dig their burrows in

"Not invited to the party but I still arrive."
I don't know if they do songs, I've only ever seen old stories. Like Mysteries, westerns and the like. Understandable, old things are really neat sometimes.
I can understand that.
That's a very good question. I would fly to Lothlorien. Where would you fly?
Welcome Mojin Hood ! I'm BabyDill, What are some hobbies you like to do?
Hi BD! Hmmm, I like building with Lego (obviously), reading, writing, 'rithmetic and I'm trying to learn the piano
Have you done any MOCs recently? What's your fave book, if you have one? I just started a series that's very good called Cheney Duvall. M.D. By Lynn and Gilbert Morris. What type of writing do you do? lol Oh piano is nice! Do you have a teacher or are you doing self taught?
