This is currently a crossover between Ninjago, Vocaloid and Pokemon. Probably my first time trying a multi-crossover that wasn't a full-on multiverse fic. I think this should be an AU fic to avoid conflicting with canon, but I strike again! I have recently obtained the Hatsune Miku V4X bundle and I believe my experiences using her program could help me write her character better and establish better headcanons. Heeere we go!
Prologue
Jay leaned Nya's bike against the wall, his heart still pounding in his chest thanks to the recent loss of his betrothed. There was a lump in his throat but he fought back the tears as he pushed open the door to his empty house. He turned on the TV and decided to play a video game- a classic speedy platformer, one starring a small animal that usually wasn't fast, or blue, yet it somehow worked, and one of his all-time favorites- to lift his spirits a bit. As he cleared Act 1 for the bajillionth time, there was a knock on the door. Jay jolted at the sudden noise but walked carefully to see what was up.
"Did you order this?" came a voice through the door. Jay opened it, and to his surprise, what the man was holding was...a girl?
"People commit human trafficking online now? Because if so you're at the wrong house."
"She's not a human."
Jay stared at her for a moment. Now that he thought of it, there were definitely some inhuman things about her, such as her long blue hair that showed no signs of being dyed, or the fact that her clothes were flickering a bit.
"Will you take her or not? You look lonely, so even if you didn't order her I think you should take her."
"Surprisingly forceful. OK." Jay let the man transfer the girl to his arms. He went inside and propped her up on the couch next to him, weighed down by the sheer mass of aquamarine hair this girl had. He leaned her against the side of the couch and examined her, eventually finding a CD packet tucked into her shirt. A CD-ROM. He loaded it into his computer.
"Hatsune Miku, eh? So she hasn't been set up..." Jay worked and worked at his desk to install her, thus waking her up. Her long eyelids fluttered open and she yawned and stretched.
"So she can speak Japanese, English, and Chinese, and she's capable of singing...dunno how useful that is but it's a nice feature..."
"Hello?"
Jay jolted once again. "Hatsune! You're awake?"
"Hatsune...? Oh, my name is Miku." She examines him with her enormous aquamarine eyes. "And you...? I think you're my new master. What's your name?" She spoke with a noticeable accent and somewhat stilted delivery, as if speaking wasn't her forte. Oh, right, she was built to sing...
"Huh? My name? Uh, Walker Jay." He chuckled a bit at his own lame joke. "So are you gonna like...live here now or..."
"I don't really have anywhere else to live..." Miku straightens up and brushes some hair out of Jay's face. "You have a lot of hair..."
Jay snorted. "Says the girl whose hair makes up like half her body weight."
"That was a bit rude..."
"Oh. Well, I was making a joke."
"Oh. Sorry, I'm...not the best at jokes. I'm better at singing and dancing than much else."
"Come on, I'm sure there are other things you're good at..."
"No, it's alright. I love to sing." Miku beamed at him. "Would you like to hear a song?"
"Uh, sure."
"What would you like to hear?"
Jay stopped for a moment. "Hmm...I dunno." Most of the options just reminded him of dear Nya, and the friends he had that grew apart after high school. "Just sing something. Anything."
"Hm." She took a deep breath and began to sing in fluent Japanese. However, something was off...
"I'm not singing quite right. My voice...it's a bit flat."
"I noticed."
"But you can help me!" Miku leaned forward into Jay's face. "I want you to teach me how to sing."
"Come on. It's not like I can do any better."
"Well, see, what you can do is..." Miku gestures to Jay's open computer. "The program here...you can tune me, like an instrument. You can teach me to sing the way you want me to sing. This is how you can train me, even if you feel you're not good at singing yourself!"
"Hmmm..." Jay opened the program and placed a note...at C7. Miku immediately let out an ear-piercing high note, then cleared her throat and glared at him. Putting it at F1 prompted a barely audible low note. After some experimentation, he figured out her range- about A2-E4. Great.
