I successfully started Chapter Ten, which is great considering where I was having Writer's Block.
However I doubt I'll get it up before Thanksgiving (I had originally put "Christmas"... Solar I caught that. )considering that I'm having my Wisdom teeth surgically removed Monday. I might be working on it on Tuesday/Wednesday seeing that I'm having a really good flow now.

"What should we do?" Jay asks. I have just finished explaining what happened and they went to go huddle in the back of the room. My Uncle and Mom are conversing quietly amongst themselves; they're sitting in the middle of the table and next to each other. I see her glance my way every now and then. I sit next to Ronin, who is at the end of the table on the opposite side of Mom and Wu.
"What do you mean?" Kai asks, sounding annoyed. "Isn't obvious that he was lying?" I look down and start to twiddle my thumbs.
"Why would he be lying?" Jay asks, curious at how someone could think that about me.
"I don't know. Why would he attack us?" Kai's getting frustrated now.
"Kai," Nya says, not sure of what to say that could calm her brother down. It's been a rough time for all of us. I look up in time to see Kai grunt and storm out of the door that is behind them. I jump up and stand there, not sure whether to go over and help calm him down. We all stand in silence, unsure on what to do. After a minute, Nya runs after him. I walk over to the Ninja and stand next to Jay and Cole.
"So," I begin, being the first to break the silence. "That was, um..."
"Dramatic?" Jay asks.
"Yeah," agrees Cole. "Probably more dramatic than Jay's wining."
"Hey!" We break into laughter, Jay not joining in. "Oh yeah? Well, I'm not as bad compared to Lloyd's big tantrums he had back then."
"Hey," I say, laughing. "You can't blame me." Still laughing, I look over my shoulder and see my Mom. We smile and for a moment, everything seemed normal.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The scream is so loud and painful, I end up doubling over. I cover my ears and close my eyes, wincing. The scream is all I hear. It sounds high-pitched and is getting louder. I'm not even sure if I'm screaming. It hurts my ears and my head. After what feels like a lifetime, it stops. I feel like all my energy had been zapped out of me. My ears are ringing, and I'm not even sure if I can hear. I leave my eyes closed, panting. I'm on my back, making me wonder if I eventually fell down. My knees are bent, and I put my arms by my side.
"Lloyd?" I open my eyes to see four faces: Nya's, Cole's, Jay's, and Ronin's. They all are looking down at me worried. I think Jay was the one who spoke. Zane is behind Ronin and Jay, peering over their shoulders so I could have some room.
"Give him some space." Wu backs them off, and Mom leans down next to me. Helping me sit up. I groan. My head is pounding, but thankfully the ringing has stopped. I look at the door to see Kai watching me. When he notices that I'm staring, he leaves. Nya noticed this and decided that I was good hands; she went after him again.
"Lloyd?" I look at my Mom, who is looking at me worried.
"It's nothing. I'm fine. I promise."
"Has it happened before?" I look up at my Uncle. I almost nod my head yes, but then I remember that I'm already in trouble.
"No," I admit.
"Then how does one know it is nothing?" He waits for me to go on.
"It was a scream. A high-pitched, loud scream." I decide not to say it was painful for my mother's sake. He looks at me, almost like he knew I was leaving something out. I glance at Mom, who is still looking at me.
"I want the Ninja to gather in the training area. That includes Kai and Nya. Lloyd, you will stay here. Ronin-"
"Go with the Ninja, yeah, yeah." Cole and Jay help me up before leaving with everyone else.
"Thanks," I tell them. Jay gives me a small smile. I know he wishes he could help. I sigh as I watch them leave. Mom exits the room, too. Wu directs me to the end of the table, and sits down across from me. We wait a few minutes for Mom to return, carrying a class of water. She hands it to me. "Thank you." I take a drink as she sits down next to me. I didn't realize how thirsty I had become.
Wu studies me for a moment before saying, "We're glad you're back, Lloyd. I sit the half-empty glass down and look up at him. A small smile is on his lips.
"You're not mad?" I ask. He shakes his head. I let out a sigh of relief.
"We believe you," Mom says. I look over at her, feeling small.
"Then why did you tell them to leave?" I ask, looking back at my Uncle.
"They need to decide as a whole." It all came clear. Uncle Wu wanted the others to try and convince Kai before he stepped in. Ronin was in there to answer questions, if any and if he knew the answer. "I told Zane that if they all agreed to come in and let us know, but I also said that if he thought it was going to far, to have Cole sneak out and get me."
"So we're expecting Cole with or without the rest." He nods. I sigh. "I'm sorry. First it happened with Morro, and now this. I should of learned from that and tried to be stronger in the mind. I let you down. All of you." Mom puts a hand on my back.
"Being possessed by a ghost is not the same as having your mind controlled. The ghost just takes you and locks you deep within yourself. Mind control gives you a little say in what you believe, but it is usually not what you would choose without it."
"In other words, it twists your perspective on reality? To what the other person sees?"
"Exactly." I ponder on this.
"Rose said she didn't want to do that to me," I say.
"But you also said that it wasn't until she saw you that she started to question. She probably ignored it at first, but she kept feeling guilt the more it kept going until a breaking point." I nod. It made sense. "Now about that scream."
"She can tell me stuff in my head. She did when I boarded so I didn't run into Jay," I say, thinking quickly. "What if she's in trouble?"
"But why scream when she could just send you a message?" Mom asks.
"I don't know."
"Pythor could have hurt her." We look at the door to see Zane with the rest of the team and Ronin, who is standing a little more to the side, crowded behind him. "You said she worked for Pythor, and I would think one screams in the head and mind if hurt badly enough." I swallowed.
"We will discuss Rose's stats later," Wu says, standing up. "Have you reached a conclusion?"
"Yes, Sensei." Kai steps forward.
"I want to apologise for my behavior. I was acting rash and wasn't thinking. I'm glad to say that I, personally, am glad to have you back." I break into a smile.
"Good. You have found the conclusion together, even though your leader had temporary fallen. Now, we will get to the business at hand." Wu gestures to the seats. Ronin sits next to Wu, followed by Jay, Nya and Cole. Zane and Kai sit on the other side of my Mom.
"So we think Rose could be in pain?" Kai asks as he's sitting down.
"I don't think physical," I jump in. "It sounded a little more emotional. Besides, isn't that the worst way to hurt a person?"
"Yes, if the person handles physical pain really well," Zane informs.
"How can someone hurt a person's mind when they can read minds?" Jay asks.
"By controlling their mind," Cole suggests.
"That would probably have a battle for that to happen," Nya says.
"Yeah," says Kai. I think for a moment.
"Zane. Is there a way that certain chemicals can cause a person to be a slave to another? Like a form of mind control?"
"Pixal?"
"Where did you get an idea like that?" Cole asks.
"Back at Darkley's, we had a Mad Science teacher who would use chemicals for some elemental power use. I think that Pythor could of commanded Rose to give him the knowledge of a Scientist and after a couple of days-"
"He could of figured out how to make chemicals control the brain!" Jay finishes.
"Exactly."
"She would of had to give it to him so he would think she was still on her side," says Kai.
"And then he used it on her," finishes Nya. I nod.
"Pixal says that your theory is possible. I think you might be right." I look at Wu, who nods. Ronin is sitting back looking impressed.
"Where would she be if that was the case?" asks Jay.
"Pythor wants to finish us off," says Cole.
"A little to badly if you ask me," Kai says coolly.
"Zane, scan for any other signs of life or heat," Nya says.
"Already on it."
"Guys, she can still control me," I say.
"Us too," says Ronin.
"No. She did something to where she couldn't harm any of you. She didn't do it for me, though."
"There are two heat signatures in the hallway. One is the form of a snake."

I like how you portrayed Jay's more easy-going nature while Kai was a bit harder to convince, and Lloyd's relationship with Wu and Misako is well-done--plus that rising tension in the last paragraph slipped in perfectly. OK, now I'm slightly concerned for Rose's welfare-- (Yeah, Tigress, stop talking. XP)
