awesomepythor and I got to thinking and we have determined LEGO should make a collectible minifigs theme with 2 series of 16 figs so all 30 Major League Baseball teams have a fig. Minifigures would have a bat (with a printed version of the player's signature on it), a glove, a hat, and hair (when applicable). We have determined the following 32 players should be featured:
NL EAST
Harper
Acuna Jr.
Alonso
Soto
Alcantara
NL Central
Molina
Votto
Baez
Yelich
Bell
NL West
Betts
Bellinger
Machado
Posey
Bumgarner
Arenado
AL East
Judge
Cole
Guerrero Jr.
Devers
Snell
Davis
AL Central
Anderson
Lindor
Merrifield
Cruz
Cabrera
AL West
Verlander
Trout
Ichiro
Chapman
Gallo
I don't know if anyone here cares for baseball, but if you do, chime in.

Cricket. Ah, baseball, yes, cool. That's quite the list you have there.

I think they might be cool minifigures, but it will be difficult to get the minifigure you want, if some of them have the same hair piece. I also think they would best sell as US or NA exclusive.

For sure, maybe a Japan audience too. Unsure. And I think LEGO could capitalize off it because the bags would feel the same...

Is baseball in Japan really a thing or is it just a joke?
I think I would have bought more minifigures from the DFB soccer minifigure series, if I could have gotten the whole series, without getting a minifigure twice. Especially with today's higher prices, I don't want to waste money on uninteresting or double minifigures.

I think they take it seriously?
And that's fair, I keep forgetting the prices have basically doubled from when I was a young lad getting series 1 figs

Well, I'm not deep into baseball, so you could literally tell me everything.
Yeah, after the price increase to 4€ I started buying less and less minifigures. I'm also very happy that I don't live in the US, 5$ for a minifigure pack is just way to overpriced.

I don't think it's as commercialized as in the states, though. Could be wrong But no one's earning 35mil a year...
Back around 2010 when I started the prices were very reasonable, I think $3. Then it went to $4 and that still wasn't too bad but when it got to $5 or $6 that's a little absurd, especially as the plastic often seemed cheaper.

Yes, the quality has definitely decreased. I don't buy much Lego anymore, but from my latest minifigures, I got a Lloyd with gray hair and an Iron Man with a face that is way too weakly printed.

Gosh, I didn't know it'd gotten so bad. I've just gotten an actual set in the past few years, so I've been immune to the plague of the collectibles. The last collectible fig I got I never even opened - guess it's an investment now... from the Ninjago series.

Which set was it?
I got a friends pod the other month and built it, and I just this week got the 1989 Batmobile but I haven't built it yet and I might not for a while - I was afraid it was going to sell out everywhere for good for the summer so I decided to pick it up.
