The more you overcook it, the smaller it gets, I think If you put a lip under it, it would hold itself up without string. I guess it depends on how you wanted it to look, or if you wanted to be extra fancy with your angles. Yes, quite the coincident for me, huh? I looked at the minifigs and they're not dreadfully exciting. Also, the new tumbler looks a lot more boring than the first one. Literally looks like a cheap knockoff of the original. Quite the cash grab. If the minifigs were super cool I'd consider getting it, but there's really no reason for me to bother with this one, since I have the original. I guess my wallet is grateful. Honestly the small new tumbler is cooler than the bigger one As well as getting darker and darker until it catches fire. That would work too. I guess I could build a very thin frame for it too so that it won't fall apart so easily. That's fair. I'd assume the new Tumbler is for those who missed out on the earlier one, since that one was 7 years ago and since LEGO has been releasing UCS batvehicles for the past couple years. I do like that the smaller one is more sleek and has more smooth surfaces. I was hoping the new UCS Tumbler would have less studs showing, but I guess the old version is sufficient enough. Hopefully that particular scenario never happens to me The interlacing pins are stronger than you'd think, they only fall apart vertically, horizontally they're locked together very well. It feels like the new one has even more studs showing. It just doesn't seem very sleek.

I guess I'd just have to brace the edges where the ends of the pins are so they don't fall out in that direction. Yep. Looking at the "arms" that hold the front wheels, I think they removed some of the sloped bricks on the side, so there's not as much depth and more studs instead.

Yes, and if you have the ends of the pins pointing down, you'd just need that one edge. Maybe if you did it sideways you could be even more clever about it, I'm not entirely sure. Well, from AP's experience it would seem that a lot of those slopes fell off easily, so maybe they're going for the durability feature. Reminds me, I need to finalize the list of pieces I need to order for the Tumbler.

I'm still figuring out some skills about cooking, and I guess once I move to my new place I'll be cooking for myself a lot. Yep. Sideways could be interesting, and maybe easier to secure since the pins on the ends won't fall off easily. Very interesting. That makes sense for them to remove it for the new model, though the new one has more pieces and I have no idea where they went in the model. If there's any rare parts that you're missing, at least the prices of those will be cheaper since more will be in stock when the new Tumbler is released.

Have you found a place yet? Sideways I guess you could have it hang off an edge without needing string to secure it. The possibilities are endless. Maybe the more pieces are for that little stand for the minifigs or something. Also possible there's more on the undercarriage, the old one just weirdly has some 2x8 and 2x6 bricks tacked on down there. And if they're trying for more durability, I can think of a lot of ways they could take more ways to make things secure. Probably just more small pieces instead of the large ones? The strangest piece I seem to be missing is a black wedge 2 x 16 triple, which fortunately doesn't seem to go for too much, even new. I was worried that it would be more expensive as it's not in a ton of sets, but apparently not. Thank goodness.

I already found a place, so now it's just and moving furniture and getting the household supplies I need. Yep. I quickly rendered this idea in Stud.io just to see how it would look. I'd try to build it in real life, but after getting a job I don't have enough desk space to build. Oh yeah, I forgot that the new minifigure stand is a new design. That's interesting how the old design is just some regular bricks. I would have expected a sturdy Technic frame, so maybe that'll be the new design. There are a lot of new bracket pieces available now that weren't available back then, so hopefully they've put them to good use in this model. Ah, that large 2x16 piece. That's the part that's missing on the new Tumbler, so I have a feeling LEGO isn't making that mold anymore. Hopefully you can get that piece while it's still cheap and readily available.

You put so much structure on that, it takes away the novelty of it sloppily falling apart all over the place. Yes, I need to go through and make sure I don't miss anything before ordering... but the time struggles.

I have the whole place to myself, and family if they want to visit. Indeed. I've been away from the forums for a while since work has been quite busy. I hope you found some time to build. Lol. If you enjoy picking up hundreds of pins from the floor, go for it. Me, I'm too much of an engineer to consider enjoying stuctual chaos, at least on my own designs. Hopefully you'll have every piece you need, and the time to compile it.

Unfortunately no building, though I've been able to do some various social activities and work out. NG should be visiting soon so hopefully there will be some building then. Some of my favorite builds over the years have been a little chaotic. It can help the aesthetic... depends what you're going for. Ideally the seller I want to buy from will have everything or almost everything. My parents just told me they're moving soon ( unexpected) sooo it's possible I'll consider moving the LEGO down to my apartment. I think if I cleverly select some storage methods I could stow most of my collection in here relatively easily.

I live in a pretty populated area near a major city, but not as big as the major city. That sounds fun, and that'll be enjoyable when NG arrives. You two can sort LEGO bricks together as well. It does make sense for some chaos when the model needs it as part of its art. Just gets annoying when it keeps breaking when you don't want it to. Hopefully there's a seller with the pieces you want, though there might be cases when the total spent is cheaper from multiple different sellers. Quite a surprise. Will they be moving closer or further away from you? I guess it's another trip to IKEA or something to find some nice storage solutions, and maybe some nice display options too.

I just live in a city with a nice and low cost of living, so I enjoy it. Unfortunately we both had some HW to do and prioritized seeing a baseball game so there was no building. She'll be back later this month and we will build then. I was able to build a bit more of the ship in a bottle the other evening, finally. As you could probably guess from my lack of activity I have been busy. I had 2 straight weekends where I wasn't doing much schoolwork, which made the rest of the time a little hectic. First I was seeing NG, then the first weekend of October I was at my parents', packing up my childhood. They're moving somewhere with more land, in the countryside, because that's what they enjoy. It's slightly closer to me, and only a few minutes from where my dad's parents. Was a bit sad to box up my childhood. Over winter I'll go through the boxes and figure things out... ideally I'll just bring most of it down to my apartment, as I have the space for several more IKEA cabinets and bookcases, and it would be pretty nice if I had all matching IKEA furniture. On the subject of buying things, I got into an internship placement program so unless things go horribly awry I'll have an internship next summer... so will be able to afford some storage solutions. I think I can fit all the pieces down here if I draw it up correctly?? My collections of boxes, instruction manuals, and other miscellaneous junk will have to remain at my parents', but better than nothing. So YEAH that's what I've been up to on that front. Fun, right? Hopefully you're well.

Did you get to the 200+ studs of water yet? Glad to hear that things seem to be going well despite being busy. At least since your parents are a little closer it'll be easier to go through your childhood things. While I still have my childhood stuff, I haven't been able to open them up ever since I started working, but I'll also eventually bring it all to my place, I think. That'll be great having matching IKEA furniture, it might actually look like one of IKEA's showrooms. Sounds wonderful! I hope you get the internship you're looking for! It's definitely a good start, and all of the organization will happen one step at a time. Glad to have you back. I've been pretty well too, though not as active now that I have bigger days at work, but I'm getting used to the schedule.

I've been pretty well too, though not as active now that I have bigger days at work, but I'm getting used to the schedule. Next time I build, the 200+ studs will be the first thing I have to do. When NG visits, I have like all the flower sets waiting to be built, per her request. I also have Seinfeld, 2 UCS Batman, Bad Batch, and more... Well, now that all my childhood things are PACKED due to the move (when I went back the other weekend I got one of my high school buddies to come over and help me pack and provide moral support ) it will be somewhat annoying to go through my childhood things. A lot of stuff (books, especially) could've been left behind but I didn't have the time to go through everything and make those judgements. I'm sure my parents will be just thrilled when I present to them all the stuff I no longer need after they moved it... but hey, they should've planned this in advanced and I would've weeded it out before grad school. Also, their new place is out in the country so I can't take public transit there as easily as I could to my childhood home, to which I could just take the train. Such is life. How much space does your apartment have? I'm hoping and praying that I can maximize my space to fit all the LEGO down here, though it'll be an achievement if I can do it. There is a lot. Unless you buy all your furniture at once or have very little floorspace, there's always something new that can be bought. I should remember to snag a picture of my current IKEA bookshelf for you sometime. Well, to be honest, I'll take whatever I can get on the internship front. I've been endeavoring to apply to a few on my own too, for practice at the very least. What's your schedule looking like? A friend of mine from undergrad who also started full time this summer has 40 hours a week with every other Friday off and that's looking really appealing to me, given the grad school lifestyle.
