Okaaay. We'll make it that if you make more than ten posts in one day, you run out of diamonds, and to make more posts you need to buy more diamonds with on-site purchases. It would be cool if we could generate revenue from ads or something and then use that money to put TBB ads on other websites, but it's probably illegal since we'd be getting money using LEGO assets.
Since the target audience for this forum is "sheltered youths who are fans of lego" it creates a good deal of problems
I guess you could make a tiktok account and have (unpaid) advertisements. That would certainly be legal and would broaden your platform and increase exposure to the target age group. Of course I guess you could reach out to other LEGO forums, but those are more geared towards AFOLs.
I dunno if that's the target audience. To be honest, the target audience is benboy teens and adults I think.

I think it's the strict moderation system that suggests it being targeted towards kids, even if most of us here are older.

Thing is, is that people under the age of 13, are not allowed to be here. The moderation system is pretty strict, yes, but it is no where as strict as LMB's.

Those are both true.
I'm personally conflicted with our current system. On the one hand, it's a good way to ensure that TBB is a fun and peaceful place for people of all ages, but at the same time, it's not instant (and can be annoying in case we're not sure if a post should be accepted or not and thus it stays in moderation for a while), and some people find it annoying that they can't discuss certain topics.

Yes, hence you're limiting your target audience, because people who aren't sheltered / restricted will just go to larger, more established forums with more freedom of speech.

We can't really get both. If we plan on staying like the LMBs, and we want to attract teenagers and younger people, then the moderation system is good. If we want to attract older teens and adults, then the moderation system is an inconvenience for people. The problem is that we are currently the "LMBs", and we need to ensure that this is a safe and friendly environment, which I believe, it currently is. An AI moderation system, (which already exists and is available as a tool for live chats and forums) would solve everything basically (and we would just have mods for other things, like reported posts, and for things the AI is unsure of). ProBoards, as you know, doesn't let us use AI moderation.
However, I am thinking that it could be possible to accomplish the same goal and build a really smart chat filter, or an algorithm of sorts that is built to be part of our moderation system. Still, even if moderation is instant, people would still complain about how it's too strict, which I mean, I don't really think it's very strict. Although, perhaps it would help to make a very specific list of things which you can't mention. I could also maybe build a chat filter or algorithm or something, if not for TBB, then for experience, but in the future, if I'm not confined to ProBoards, I would just be able to use AI.

Yes, I think a "moderation without the inconvenience of moderation" approach is the way to go, and I can't imagine people would be too offended by it... after all they're coming here (or at least you want them to come here) because of a building toy.
Awesome. We don't get a lot of LEGO chat on this forum in general.
Compared to a lot of my "top posters" contemporaries, I've always been pretty invested in LEGO. I must admit I didn't really follow new sets from like 2016-2020, but that was when I acquired a lot of old stuff, so it evens out.
That's pretty good. It's kind of similar with me as well. I didn't get much new LEGO in those years as well, but I was still pretty interested in LEGO.
