First off, I'd like to thank Benboy for spending valuable years of his life compiling data on message board rank requirements, basically since the 2012 update. :{P As many of you know, some of the final ranks were not obtained until the boards were deleted, and of course the requirements for these have not been disclosed.
Using the knowledge gained through my engineering curriculum (basically just a ton of Excel), I created trendlines using the data available to me (thanks to Benboy). Basically what we found is that the requirements for the first 19 ranks (caveman to rev sodier) were fairly reasonable, but after that they became extremely demanding and virtually impossible to obtain without spending your life there. :{P So alternatively, we decided to rewrite the requirements using the patterns detected in ranks 1-19, using the trendline equations to "revise" requirements and then rounding the values for each prediction. if anyone wants the equations, let me know, but I'm gonna list the revised requirements here. :{P Estimated values are bolded, true values are not.
(don't judge me, I'm bored)

Thanks ape for posting an epic topic. It may be worthy of note that the mods claimed the rank requirements were:
post count
likes given
likes received
account age
minutes online
post views
Of course, it's impossible to confirm the legitimacy of this. Furthermore, my data on post views is extremely limited.
It also may be worthy of note that the REAL reqs for minutes and account age on ranks 20+ were outlandishly high:
316940 minutes for cowboy, 661000 detective, 735000 bandit, 841000 pilot, and 920000 hippie (I think). On the age front, cowboy was 33 months and detective 36, with pilot possibly 66.
My take on this is that the minutes online stat somehow glitched and became extremely high for some users, so the mods changed the minutes and age requirements to compensate. We ran a simulation and Alien would require 27 years following that trend... which is why we extrapolated from 1-19. To put these numbers into perspective, with our "fixed" requirements, if you were online for five hours a day it would take a little less than four years to reach alien. This is reasonable enough, a few of us basically achieved this by the update. The post requirement is also reasonable, considering Marcel had already reached 60,000 posts at the update.
Of course none of this will even be implemented but for nerds it is amusing

Thank you for the clarification benboy, methinks I may post the results of that simulation as well. :{P

So, out of those requirements, it would be impossible to implement the following to our current ranking system. -Likes Given -Post Views -Minutes Online (Probably)
These are possible: -Post Count (the only thing in our ranking up system currently) -Likes Received (this is possible to implement probably) -Account Age (Also probably possible somehow)
That being said, this is just my opinion on what would be possible or not when it comes to code. I'm not saying the staff will add likes received and account age into the equation, even though it may be pretty cool.

If you want to emulate the frustration of the MBs, it would be an option.

Good to know, we don't expect anything but thought these results were interesting. :{P

We care more about history than the current state of affairs, really
