The alarms blared. The soldiers armed themselves for the oncoming attack. No one wanted to believe what the scouts had reported, but they had no choice. For before their very eyes they saw what they feared most- the Supreme Leader had come.
No one really knew what Snoke was capable of. He had always stayed in the shadows, maneuvering pieces in a giant game of holochess. Before now only Rey had seen him in the flesh, but today he stood in front of them in silver robes, white hair flowing from his now scar-free head.
He walked through the base calmly. A barrage of shots were fired at him, but he redirected all of them with a simple wave of his hand. He seemed to be conducting the volley of blasts in a symphony, not seeming to care how close they came to his head.
Troopers lobbed grenades at his feet, he walked out of the explosions unscathed. He continued strolling through the base, entirely unworried by the onslaught.
The old Sith had almost reached the base when a figure leaped toward him to slice him with a yellow-bladed saber. The last Jedi had come. He whipped out a double white saber and countered the blow. The two dueled vigorously for quite some time before Rey found herself weakening. She had been on the offensive for the entire fight, while Snoke stood parrying her strikes with flowing movements that bespoke years of training. Rey was strong, but she couldn't handle his defensive power, and as her stamina began to drain Snoke knocked the lightsaber out of her hand and flicked it into the distance with the Force.
Rey took a defensive stance despite this major disadvantage. She stuck her hand out to retrieve her weapon. To her surprise, Snoke powered his saber down.
"You're strong, " he told her, smiling, "but if I was here to kill you, you would be dead already. I've come to clear my name." His smile was less unpleasant than the last time Rey had seen him, but she wouldn't trust him for a second.
"Why should I believe that?" she questioned.
"I'm not who you think I am."
Rey looked puzzled by this comment "Take me inside. I have a long story to tell you."
He handed her his lightsaber and gave the kindest smile his strange face could give.

Hey everybody, thanks for the positive reception! Please let me know what you think of the story as it is posted, all criticism, constructive or otherwise, is very much appreciated! New chapter drops tonight, stay tuned!
Chapter 2 Part 1 Snoke sat in the commander's chair in the Resistance base. He had willingly allowed himself to be handcuffed and was flanked by guards with loaded blasters. 'Not that any of that can actually restrain him, ' Rey thought, sitting in a seat opposite the Supreme Leader. It was all meant to show he meant no harm, but she found herself unconvinced. She took a moment to note Snoke's appearance. He was no longer sporting the golden robes he had worn at their last meeting, and his right hand was crudely fashioned from durasteel. Being sliced up with a lightsaber seemed to have had little effect on him, all things considered. She didn't trust him one bit. But before acting in any manner, she would hear him out. "How are you still alive? I watched you get sawed in half." Snoke nodded knowingly. "That wasn't me you saw. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Shall we start my tale from the beginning?" "Please do." Snoke leaned back. He seemed entirely unworried about being on enemy territory. "I was a Jedi in the days of the Republic. I trained hard and was a star pupil in the Temple. I was only a Padawan learner under Master Dobrei when Order 66 was issued by your illustrious grandfather. I found myself in the heat of the chaos, locked in a room with the younglings for their safety and mine. We were waiting anxiously for any news when Anakin Skywalker came through the door. Of course we all assumed we were saved. Skywalker was constantly being praised as a hero and perhaps even the Chosen One an old prophecy had spoken of. His presence felt different that day... darker. "What are we going to do, Master Skywalker?" the smallest of my charges asked the Jedi. He looked at us with the eyes of a psychopath and drew his lightsaber. He was a part of the evil Order, and we were next to be annihilated. I had earned my lightsaber at this point, a green-bladed sword with a hilt I had painted gold. I took the fight to Skywalker. I knew I would lose, but I could buy the others some time and with a bit of luck maim my enemy.

(Note to Mods: pls post this after part one, character limits are making me have to divide up chapters.) Chapter 2 - Part 2
It wasn't a long fight- I don't think it was long enough for the younglings to escape. We exchanged blows, he decided I wasn't worth his time," Snoke gestured with bound hands to scars on his face," and long story short, he threw me through a window. Between the pain in my face and the stinging transparasteel shards all over my body I couldn't think very straight, but I knew if I didn't slow my fall with the Force I was history. I'd never done it, but I understood the concept enough to slow myself enough that I survived. I did not slow myself enough, however, to go unscathed. I hit the ground with a hard thump and was out for a long time."
"I was in a coma for about two months after the fall. When I finally came to, I was completely . When I remembered what had happened, I wished I had stayed in the coma. Everyone I had ever cared about had been, to the best of my knowledge, annihilated.
I decided, as was my Jedi training, to survey the situation. The room I had spent my coma in seemed to be a personal office rather than a hospital room. My bed seemed to have been acquired (honestly probably stolen) from a hospital, however, and a decent one at that. Whoever had brought me here obviously wasn't part of the Jedi purge, and clearly I wasn't being imprisoned- the door was wide open for me to leave, and I was not restrained in any manner. I noticed my lightsaber sitting on the desk. The odds it still worked were pretty low.
Then I realized I had best survey the damage to my body. Clearly the transparisteel shards had been surgically removed in many places, scars and old bandages lining what I could see of my skin. Both of my legs were still covered with flimsiplast braces, but my arms were for the most part mobile. I was still attached to a bulky life support machine, but I didn't feel as if I needed it. Patching me up had obviously been an expensive job, so I wondered who wanted me alive enough to pay for it. Someone obviously needed me for something..."

Chapter 3, Part 1
(delayed due to lack of response to the last chapter)
I didn't know if I would be able to stand, and didn't want to find out the hard way. So I found a button labeled 'Assistance' on my bed and I pushed it. What could go wrong?
A silver-haired human man entered my confinement and sat behind the desk. "Finally decided to wake up, have you?" I could tell already this conversation was going places fast- this guy appeared to have waited long and impatiently for my awakening, and was going to waste no time getting to the important business. I decided to start with the most basic questions. "Why did you keep me alive? Who are you?" The man laughed. "I must say I expected something more like 'thank you', but never mind. I kept you alive because you are our only hope against the new Empire. During your little nap democracy has died and tyranny has taken its place. Worst of all, the most evil of the Sith rules the galaxy as we speak."
He summarized the events of the last two months for me. The outlook seemed bleak, and he didn't try to soften the blow.
"And on top of all of that, the only real way to kill a Sith is to fight with the Force, and the only good Force user who still lives is a Padawan who just got out of a body cast, namely yourself. So yes, things are bad, but you are the last hope."
I wasn't sure if I liked this guy or not. Bluntness was not lacking in his case, as he had literally just told me that the fate of the entire galaxy in my hands.
He explained his plan to form a rebel group spanning the galaxy that would effort to undermine Imperial influence. He had already assembled a strike team of his own, which I was apparently a part of.
"Gather your strength," he told me. "Tomorrow, we ransack the nearest Imperial armory for materials. Everything we can get out is power to rebellion and less power to the Empire. Besides, the place will be bursting with valuable intel." He headed out. "By the way, I'm Aurelius. But you can think of me as your new boss." I was in for it now. Somehow, quite accidentally, I had become a rebel.
"I discovered exactly what kind of life I was in for when I was awakened in the middle of the night for the Rebel raid. Aurelius literally dragged me out of my bed and into a transport. "If you can be bothered to wake up, I'd like to introduce you to the crew." he told me, waving his hand to a motley band of blaster-bearing rogues. There were about 12 in all, each with a very different skillset than the rest. "Welcome aboard. Hope you've got what it takes- this mission is no joke." Fenn Signis, a human male known as 'the bane of all Stormtroopers', said to me. Did no one around here have any tact? Everyone was beating me over the head with the fact that I was the last hope of Rebellion. I muttered something noncommittal, trying not to make any promises I was entirely incapable of keeping. "Don't let us down, kid." a Rodian (Author's note: same species as Greedo) who refused to disclose him name admonished me. This was going to get old.
It occurred to me that I was unarmed. Aurelius saw my confusion and slapped him forehead. "I almost forgot." He tossed something in my direction. It was a lightsaber, but not mine. The hilt was black and it seemed to open at both ends. "Your saber, though the hilt seemed in tact, was unsalvageable. The crystal shattered beyond repair. Luckily, I found this lying in a crate of blasters in our storeroom." I found an open spot in the transport and unsheathed my new weapon. I was disturbed by its red blade. I would seem like a Sith, perhaps even feel like one, wielding this blade. Feelings aside, I had never wielded a double lightsaber before, and didn't know what to do. I didn't get much time to practice. The transport screeched to a halt. "It's go time. Snoke, get us in there." I took the new saber and carved an opening in the wall large enough for us to burst through. The saber felt good enough in my hands, that was a relief. But we were met with strong resistance. AT-RT walkers left over from the Clone Wars were parked in the storeroom and the guards quickly climbed in and started firing at us. Every one else seemed to be operating on a predetermined plan, rushing through the facility to do their part. I was left to cover them...
Every one else seemed to be operating on a predetermined plan, rushing through the facility to do their part. I was too - I had planned not to die, and that was what I was doing, and I might as well guard our ride home while I was at it. The double saber, despite its faults, was an amazing tool for deflecting bolts. I managed to disarm the walkers, slicing cleanly through their main cannons, rendering them entirely useless. Reinforcements were occasionally pouring in through the elevator, and I was stuck fending them off. Whatever Aurelius and his gang was up to, it was sure taking a long time. I had battled my way through the Empire's military and they were starting to get to me. Fatigue had made me weak, and I failed to deflect a bolt to my shoulder. Through my agony, I continued to fight with my other arm. I had endured worse, that was for sure. I felt another bolt graze my leg- that couldn't be good. I heard a strange humming as a lightsaber flew into the room. It was aimed for my head, but I managed to deflect in back from whence it came. Two cloaked figures entered the room, wearing the armor Imperial Inquisitors. Apparently this operation had just become pretty important, because Inquisitors were high-level Imperials with the Force who were highly dangerous. They were also known to hunt Force users who had survived Order 66, so these two had likely come for my head. I was flattered that I had managed to make this big of an impression on the Empire, but I knew I wasn't going to make it if I hung around much longer. Aurelius, being who he was, finally decided to show up with his team exactly at that moment, all carrying crates of supplies. His team was now noticeably smaller. "Pretty good job, kid! Now let's get out of here stat!" We piled into the transport and hit the thrusters. The battle was, however, far from over- we would be pursued through the air."
