Some of the minifigures have been leaked, and yes, it's a fantasy wave with goblins and skeletons as villains.
The skeletons look different, though, being black and looking as if there are cursed spirits like the ones from Possession inside of them. The goblins, on the other hand, are pretty standard, like anything you would expect from a fantasy theme. But the Skull Sorcerer is actually interesting, mostly because of the big bat-like wings and the face (or mask?) that honestly looks kind of alien to me.
The ninja now have knight armour and come with some genuinely good peices for fans of fantasy, like Jay's shield. I even think that, besides the masks, they could be passed off as actual fantasy characters.
Knight armor, on ninja? Aren't they supposed to be quick and stealthy? Well actually, I guess that isn't a factor anymore, with the ninja always driving big, colorful tanks and motorcycles.

What I keep thinking about is the fact that knights are basically the samurai of Western Europe... samurai being historically the natural enemy of ninja... Why are they knights? Are they real knights or just--? You know what, I shouldn't think about it too much. xD

Well in the Ninjago universe, knights are probably more like the samurai of a completely different realm, so maybe the Ninja don't know this. Nexo Knights crossover?

Some new pictures of the Summer 2020 sets have now been leaked. The pictures are quite small but give us a good idea of what the sets are like.
First there are the Spinjitzu burst sets for Cole and Lloyd, which are not really good in my opinion. They just look bare and unimpressive to me. I do like the minifigures, though, which remind me of the NRG ninja from 2012 and the Airjitzu ninja from 2015.
The Legacy Destiny's Bounty very good to me. Compared to the 2012 version, it looks more complete and imposing. However, after the Land Bounty and this, I'm convinced that there will be a Destiny's Bounty next year for the 10th anniversary. I'm sure of it.
The Journey to the Skull Dungeons is a fairly small piece of scenery, but it does look decent. It reminds me of the Lava Falls from 2015, but bigger, better, and with more opportunities for play.
The Fire Stone Mech is something I'll need to see more of to make a clear judgement on.
First is Wu's Battle Dragon, which is bigger and more impressive than I expected it to be. It also looks quite blocky, though, and I think that the wings could have been a bit smaller. Still, given that this is one of the cheaper sets in the wave, this is a good set and better than I thought it would be.
There is also the Legacy Kai Fighter, which is so far my favourite of this wave, although that might change when we see more pictures. The amount of detail on it is impressive and the overall design of it gives it a really intimidating look. As with most of the Legacy sets, it's a massive improvement on what came before.
Finally, there is the Skull Sorcerer's Dungeons, which reminds of me of the sets based on the trolls from Castle from 2008-2009, especially the Trolls' Mountain Fortress. It also looks pretty good so far, although I think I will have to see more of it to make my final judgement on it.

Awesome! Hey Fantasius! I didn't know you came back! Welcome back. I hope you stay!

When you realize LEGO Castle is being brought back within Ninjago.

All of the Ninjago sets for Summer 2020 have now been revealed. Allow me to give my full thoughts on what new things we've seen, as well as some complete thoughts on things we saw before.
First, there is Zane's Mino Creature, which looks like a cross between a monster made out of stone and a futuristic heavy duty robot. I definitely think it fits the aesthetic and setting of the wave, though, so I do like it.
Second, the Fire Stone Mech. I think this one carries the same strength as the Mino Creature that I talked about above, but I also find the design to be more appealing. The Monkey King Warrior Mech from the new Monkie Kid line is clearly better, though.
Third, the Skull Sorcerer's Dragon. This is now my absolute favourite set of the whole wave. This is a large, scary and detailed dragon with a unique skeletal look that I don't think we've ever seen from a Ninjago dragon. It's easily the standout of the wave.
Finally, the Skull Sorcerer's Dungeons. This is a really good playset with a nice design and interesting features. And yes, the sets can combine to form a board game. By taking structures from the Journey to the Skull Dungeons, Zane's Mino Creature, and the Skull Sorcerer's Dragon, the set can be enlarged to make an even bigger dungeon. I actually think this was done really well, as it makes a great looking structure and doesn't really hurt any of the individual sets, in my opinion.
So yes, overall, I do think this is a very good wave of sets, as usual for the theme.

Oh nice. I think the Skull Sorcerer's Dungeons set is my favorite--although I've always taken a liking to dungeons of all shapes and sizes, to perhaps I'm just biased.
First, I'm sorry for being completely gone for half a year. You might have noticed that I was seriously declining in activity for a while, and that was pretty much because I was running out of things to actually say here, and because I increasingly had other things in my life to worry about. I think from now on I will only be moderately active on this place, since having about a dozen posts each day is just unrealistic for me. At least I'm back.
Second, if you're wondering why I'm back now, it's because I actually found something great to talk about right now: we now have set names for the Summer 2020 Ninjago sets.
They are:
71717 Journey to the Skull Dungeons 71718 Wu’s Battle Dragon 71719 Zane’s Mino Creature 71720 Fire Stone Mech 71721 Skull Sorcerer’s Dragon 71722 Skull Sorcerer’s Dungeon

I am literally going to buy every single MOTM set when they release in america. I'm going to learn how to play the game I guess. It should be fun.
