Yeah, this is my millionth attempt at reviving this story of mine...I feel silly, but I also feel like bringing this back so... I also feel like sort of rebooting this with new characters and such, so...yeah.
Prologue
She lay at the foot of the mountain, half-buried in soft snow. She had been unconscious for who knows how long, and the mystery of the shattered material beside her befuddled the approaching Ninja of Ice. It was clearly emerald, but something was off. As his hand moved toward it, he felt a soft breeze flow through his fingers. It seemed to give him life, even as the groggy winter air lulled him into a half-drowsy state. But it couldn't have been for him, so he left it alone and lifted up the body; what he saw underneath it left him speechless. A shattered computer chip, tainted with frost, and the unconscious girl had a panel at the back of her neck, hanging open as if it had broken. He gently closed it, knowing a shattered chip couldn't be reinserted. The inside of the panel had a very familiar symbol, however. The same symbol on his trusted Falcon, and on the door of his father's hollowed-tree home. He then remembered something his memory switch failed to reveal.
Zane held on tight to the girl's body, crunching through the snow to find a safe space to attempt to wake her up. Nearby, conveniently, lay an empty cabin, so he hurried there and closed the door behind him, praying silently that no one was in there. He lay her on the wood floor and attempted to shake her awake. He searched her body for an "on" switch, but there was none there. He then looked into her eyes, which were closed softly, as if in a peaceful sleep. He sighed, exhaling a cumulus of pure white. He placed his hand under the small of her back and lifted her up. The sudden movement seemed to finally wake her. Her eyes fluttered open, revealing an icy, grayish blue, not dissimilar to his own, decorated by white-blonde eyelashes. She looked up.
Her mouth moved.
Zane blinked, then thought. She must not have found her voice yet. I can wait.
It moved again. She touched her throat, then looked away as if coming to a realization.
The girl looked down, as if thinking some, and then shook her head vaguely.
"Is it alright if I take you to mine?"
She looked mildly surprised, then nodded with just as much fatigue.
Zane hiked through the snow, carrying the young robot girl in his arms. He stopped and looked up to the top of a large ship with a dragon-headed mast. "Here we are. The Bounty."
She looked up and seemed mildly in awe. Zane set her down, and she wobbled a bit, but managed to pick herself up just as Zane panicked and reached for her. He was a bit surprised she could stand, and as he climbed onto the boat, it was clear that she was even capable of walking.
"I'm home," Zane said. He held the girl's hand as he walked through the hallway and to the room where the other ninja usually hung out at this time of day. Cole and Jay were playing cards, and Kai was clearly attempting to beat a very hard video game, as he was gripping his controller tightly and biting back the urge to scream and throw it at the screen. Nya was the only one keeping him from exploding.
"Nice timing!" Kai shouted sarcastically. "I just died! Again!" He threw down the controller and threw himself onto the couch. "Thanks a lot, Zane."
"Cool it, Kai," Cole replied, putting down his deck face down. "He literally just came in." With a look of surprise, he added, "And so did she."
"She?" Jay raised an eyebrow, then saw "her" and replied with a small, "Oh."
"What's your name?" Nya asked, almost irritably.
The girl replied by moving her hands and fingers, almost as if speaking with them.
"My apologies. She cannot speak," Zane explained. "Her name is..." ...he turned and looked at her hands to see what she was saying... "...Hanna. She has no home, so is it alright if we house her for a while?"
"Fine," Nya replied. "But don't anyone go bringing home girls like that again."
"Jealous?" Kai teased, then approached Hanna and placed a warm hand on her shoulder. "I think she can stay. It's not every day a girl this beautiful comes around, anyhow."
Hanna looked slightly uncomfortable and awkward.
"Kai," Nya moaned, rubbing her forehead as if it were sore, "no."
