Very Old and Very Cringy #2: The First Quest, An Uber-Fanon Bionicle Fanfiction Written by young me, from young years ago
"How long has he been up there?" Kanuva grumbled. Next to him, Muro looked up from his book. "I don't know, but you'll have to be patient. My brother is often distant, but you haven't seen anything yet." Muro smirked, then went back to his book. It was a stormy evening in Ko-wahi. The three took refuge from the storm under a ridge of snow, waiting for a vision that would come to Matanu. He was on the top of the ridge, sitting cross-legged and ignoring the wind that could blow the armour off a Toa. They had been there for some hours, waiting for the vision. Matanu never spoke. On the ridge, Matanu was waiting for a message from Tahu, their sensai. But all he heard was the storm whistling through his mask. Suddenly, he saw Tahu sitting next to him. "Master Tahu." Matanu said. "You have done well so far, Matanu." Tahu said. "But the rest of the journey awaits. You must go to Ko-Koro and find the matoran Konuju. He is actually the son of Kopaka. A mysterious force has removed the memory and powers of all the Toa and reduced them to mere matoran. You must use your powers to jolt his memory back and return him to his original state. Then he will have a vision of the location of his mask. " Then, in a large gust of wind, he was gone. Matanu slid down the ridge and landed next to his allies. He caused a small avalanche that buried Kanuva and Muro. Kanuva's head popped out of the snow pile. "Hey! Watch it!" He shouted. Matanu smiled. Once he dug the others out, he told them about the vision. "Okay...how do we get to Ko-koro?" Muro said. Kanuva took out a map of the island. "Ko-koro is due...that way." he said. "But it's to far to go on foot. We'll have to find transportation...or make it." Kanuva raised his hand above the ground and used his elemental power of tech. Metal within the crust of the earth formed themselves into gears and screws, which built into high-powered skis. He hopped onto them and said, "Keep up if you can."
Muro closed his eyes and used his earth powers to become one with the earth. Matanu was completely alone. Then, he felt himself being lifted into the air. He looked up and saw a joey grabbing onto his shoulders and flying him to Ko-koro. "Thanks..." Matanu said. His life powers must have summoned it. "No prob, bro." Said the bird. It was the strangest thing Matanu had ever seen. Later, Matanu was being let down in front of the Ko-koro gates. Next to him, Kanuva zoomed in, and Muro appeared next to him. The Ko-koro gates were 200ft. tall, made of solid ice, heavily armed and indestructible, yet there was a hole in the wall beside the gate. "They've been here." Muro said. He was referring to the Zombie Jawas which were attacking the entire Fictiverse. They were creatures that were nearly indestructible and invaded planets in flying sandcrawlers, falling from the sky and leaving no mercy. The ancient island of Mata Nui was no exception. All fifteen united villages stayed inside forts and tried to keep the jawas out, but many were unsuccessful. "You think they're still in there?" Matanu said. "Nah." Kanuva said. "There's their escape route." he pointed to a hole identical to the first one on the other side of the gate. "Ah, well...then let's go find Konuju." Inside, evidence of the invasion was everywhere. Small fires burned on the ground, houses had broken windows and doors, bodies of jawas were everywhere, along with the masks of fallen matoran. No bodies, because when a matoran died, their bodies disappear, leaving their masks behind. "Where is everyone?" Kanuva said. The place was deserted. Matanu used his life abilities to find the matoran. "I feel their presence. This way." He started walking through the city. They came upon the opening of a huge cave. Inside, matoran were huddled together and tending to the injured warriors. Some matoran were handing out cups filled with matoran hot chocolate, made from kokoa beans found in Le-koro. A matoran walked up to the Toa and offered hot kokoa. "Welcome, Toa. Please, come in and warm yourselves." Matanu led the others inside, where he started healing the matoran. Kanuva and Muro each took a cup and drank.
"Thank you, friend." Kanuva said. "We are on a quest, looking for the matoran Konuju." A thought dawned on him. "He didn't...I mean he's still..." Muro realized what Kanuva was saying. He spat his drink all over the back of Kanuva's head. "HEY!" Kanuva glared at Muro. "Sorry..." "Anyway..." Kanuva wiped the kokoa of his mask. "he's still...alive, right?" "Oh, yes!" The matoran said. "He is over there, serving a drink to that soldier." "Thank you, tohunga." Kanuva said, then he walked through the crowd. He crept up and cuffed Konuju with herocuffs. "Konuju, you will have to come with us." "Um...what?" "You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to a seasoned lawy---" "Woa, woa, woa!" Muro said. "What the brick are you doing?!?" "What? This is the peaceful approach." "PEACEFUL?? You just arrested him!!" "Um, what did I do?" Konuju said. "You shut up!" Kanuva said. "Don't tell him to shut up! He's the Toa of Ice!" Muro said. "Excuse me, Toa....?" Konuju said. "You shut up too, shadow boy!" Kanuva snapped. "Oh, we're playing that game now, are we? So much for toa of light, lighty-tighty!" Muro said. "GASP! You take that back!" Kanuva sai--- "STOP IT, BOTH OF YOU!!!" Matanu yelled. suddenly, Kanuva and Muro collapsed. Their souls lifted from their bodies. "WHAT TH--- DID YOU JUST KILL US??" Kanuva shouted. "Well, sort of. You can go back into your bodies, but not until I say you can." Matanu said. "He tried to 'peacefully' arrest Konuju. I tried to stop him, and you killed me. How nice." Muro said. "Do you want to see my forceful arrest?" Kanuva said. Muro imagined him tackling Konuju or shooting his shoulder with a laser. "No, not really. But you didn't have to arrest him! He never did anything wrong!" Muro argued. "But we arrest suspects at Makuhero City all the time!" Kanuva said. "But we're not IN Makuhero City, are we?" Muro snapped. "HEY! KONUJU'S GETTING AWAY!" Kanuva yelled. It was true. Konuju was running deeper into the cave. Kanuva went into his body and threw a TaserBolo. The bolo flew toward the matoran for three suspenseful seconds. Then they heard a cry from the other side of he cavern. "GAH!" Kanuva smiled. "I never miss."
When they got to the back of the cave, they found Konuju trying to wiggle away. "Tough little guy, isn't he?" Kanuva said. "I should have replaced the battery on the taser." Muro elbowed him. "Ow..." "So...what now?" Matanu said. "Touch him." Muro said. "Um...what?" "Touch him." "Why?" "That will activate his powers." "Um...do I have to?" "Yes." "Um...this is awkward..." Matanu poked Konuju with his finger. "..." Konuju felt awkward. Then, his body glowed with a bluish, whitish light. His arms and legs grew to toa sized, and a sword and shield formed in his hands. All his old memories came back to him, all his skills filling his mind. He came to the ground, once again, the Toa of Ice. "Thanks, guys." He said. "Except for the part when you tried to taser me." He smiled.
"What is it with the visions?" Kanuva said. "Why can't Tahu just give me a call on my Heropod?" "Stop complaining. I'm trying to focus." Konuju was outside the gates of the city, where he was waiting for the vision that would tell him the location of his mask. Then, he saw it. His expression turned to that of horror. "Oh, bricks." He mumbled. "What's wrong?" Muro asked. Konuju faced his allies with a grim stare. "We have to go where matoran travel, but never come back. It is a hurricane that came from the ocean, and froze in the cold of Ko-koro. My friends, this storm nearly killed my father. We have to go into...the Eye of the Frozen Hurricane." "Pff. Drama queen." Kanuva said. Muro elbowed him. "Ow..." "Well... if Mata Nui means for us to die now, than so be it. Let's go." They used a snow vehicle borrowed from the Ko-matoran. When they arrived, they nearly got crushed by an incoming Ice sickle. "Gah!! Who taught you how to drive? Takama?!?" Muro yelled. "Well, actually..." Matanu started. "No time for that now!" Konuju yelled. "We have to get in somehow, a parting in the storm, a --LEFT, TURN LEFT DARN IT!" A giant boulder of ice crashed next to them and turned the vehicle over. They flew through the air and crashed. The four jumped out before impact and landed in the remains of the boulder. "There goes the deposit on that Snowskimmer." Kanuva spat out ice and helped the others out of the snow. "How do we get into that thing?" Muro yelled. "I have an idea, but we need to--" Then, Matanu was hit right in the gut with a small ice boulder and got sucked into the storm. "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" "NO!" Muro ran after his brother and suffered the same fate. Kanuva and Konuju stood watching the storm. "...So, what now?" Kanuva said. "...After you." he said. "What?" Konuju pushed Kanuva into the storm and jumped in after him.
"YOU BETTER HAVE A PLAN, SNOW MAN!!' Kanuva yelled. They had found each other in the storm and flew into a sky diving position. The storm raged around them, flinging the formation through the air at top speeds. They tried to break out of the storm several times, but instead they got caught in another current. "I'M TRYING, BUT I CAN'T CONCENTRATE WITH YOU YELLING!!!" Konuju yelled. "STOP YELLING AT ME!!!" Kanuva yelled. "STOP IT, BOTH OF YOU! YOU'RE GIVING ME A HEADACHE!" Matanu yelled. "LOOK! THERE'S THE MASK!" Muro yelled. Sure enough, spinning in the eye of the storm, was the mask. It was clear blue, like solid ice. Konuju broke from the formation and flew toward it. It was concealed inside a orb of ice. Konuju smashed it with his fist and took the mask from within. Suddenly, the storm completely disapeared. This would be a good thing, except the four toas were still five million feet from the surface of Mata Nui.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" All four toa said at the same time as they hurdled toward their imnent doom. Muro thought first. He summoned the wind and glided toward earth. Kanuva turned his armour into indestructible stone and fell like a meteor. Matanu summoned a Nui-rama and buzzed down to earth. Konuju thought for a moment and created a mountain of powder snow beneath him. Muro crashed into the ground, Kanuva fell and created a crater, Matanu landed and freed the Nui-rama, and Konuju used his shield as a sled and snowboarded his way down the mountain. "Oh, my head..." Kanuva staggered toward where the others were gathering. "Is...is everyone...okay?"Muro stuttered. He collapsed, due to the leg he had broken on the way down. "Ow... yeah, I'm okay...just a few saddle soars is all...I won't be able to sit for a week..." Matanu groaned. Then, he was knocked over by Konuju, who slid safely onto the snow covered terrain. "GAH!" "WOO-HOO!" Konuju yelled. "Hey, guys! What's goin' on?" "My...my leg..." Muro moaned. Matanu lay on the ground in pain, and Kanuva simply collapsed. Fourteen minutes later, Matanu had healed himself and the others. They had all gone to Ko-koro, where the matoran celebrated the return of their Toa. There was music, food, festivities, and, at the end, the masking ceremony. Konuju stood on a small stage and placed the mask on his face. The clear blue mask glowed so brightly that the matoran had to look away. Konuju glowed as the mask renewed his full power. The mask turned the purist white and ceased to glow. The turaga, Konu, came up to the stage. "Konuju Ko, I here by give you full toa authority over our city of Ko-koro" The crowd cheered. The party continued till dark, then Muro, Matanu, and Kanuva said their goodbyes.
"So long Konuju." Matanu said. "I trust you will protect your village." "I'll try. Where will you go next?" Konuju said. Kanuva checked his Heropod and said, "A hord of jawas are heading toward Ga-koro. The villagers are most likely defenseless without their toa." "So, Gakoa's next on the list?" Muro asked. "Yep. Thank you for everything, Konuju. I trust our paths will cross again." Matanu replied. "No problem. Thanks again." Konuju said. They were leaving to Ga-koro when Konuju stopped Kanuva. "Hey, Kanuva?" "Yeah?" "Try not to arrest Gakoa, will you?" Konuju smiled. Kanuva frowned. "I don't get it." Muro elbowed him. "Ow..."
