(Yeah, the title comes from the original theme...)
Yup. Yet another crossover.
Of late, I've been really into Pokémon, and I figured I'd want be active on the MBs more often, so here I am with a new story! I've been brainstorming on this for a while and I figured, hey, why not try to make it work? This is sort of an alternate universe/timeline thing where the Ninja train Pokémon, rather than do ninja work, to save the world. (Also, befitting to the universe, the Ninja are younger than they would normally be.
Chapter 1
Far away from the rest of the world lies the Seneri region, a would -be paradise inhabited by fair weather, beautiful wildlife, and dangerous criminals. Long have the people seeked a savior to such a fallen nation, since long before time had a name. Little did they know the answer would soon come...
"Ha!" Ten-year-old Kai thrust his wooden sword at her sister's shoulder. "You can't beat me!"
"Not if I can help it!" Nya laughed and blocked his blow. "Hyah! Agile as a Staryu!"
"Well, I'm as strong as an Incineroar!" He slid the sword out of her hand. " I win! Ha ha! "
"Heh...guess I lost." Eight-year-old Nya looked up. " You're pretty excited, aren't you? "
"Huh? For what?" Kai leaned casually on the hilt of his sword.
"Your Pokémon license, " Nya replied. "Duh."
"Oh, right! Heck yeah!" Kai grinned, thrusting his sword in the air in his excitement and hitting Nya in the chest. When she grunted in pain, Kai muttered, "Sorry..."
"Well, you better not be this irresponsible when you get to Professor Joshua!" Nya replied irritably. "And you better choose a good Pokémon, you hear?"
" Yeah, of course. Whatever you say. "
Nya looked at her brother meaningfully. "Do you want me to come with you?"
"Huh?" Kai was a bit surprised, but coolly replied, "Nah. You worry too much. I'll be fine."

This is actually really good! The two themes work together well.

This is actually really good! The two themes work together well.
Now I have the Pokémon theme song in my head.
As a Pokemon Fanntoo, i give this my seal of approval, i’ll watch egarlly when this develops more.
Kai flipped around, and he couldn't prepare himself for what was in front of him. Nya was gone from her place, and her screams could be heard from miles away. Kai gritted his teeth and ran after her. All he saw was a shrouded shadow, and only for a split-second; whatever it was sped off with the girl and she was gone.
Kai stood silent, hot, bitter water welling up in his eyes. He clenched his fists, gritting his teeth aggressively. "WHOEVER OR WHATEVER THE HECK YOU ARE, I'M NOT AFRAID TO FIGHT YOU! YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH MY SISTER NO MATTER WHAT!" He brandished his wooden sword; it wasn't very intimidating, but it was what he had. "I've got to get my Pokémon license. I have to. It's more than just having Pokémon and being cool. It's whatever it takes to get her back."
"Nice monologue."
Kai jolted and turned around. An old man who looked rather like a human Alakazam was smiling at him.
"You have a lot of determination, young man," the man replied. "Perhaps I could take you to Professor Joshua's laboratory myself." He suddenly turned sober. "Walking alone is dangerous in this area..."
"I...well, alright." He didn't want to get stopped in his tracks; if he did, who knew what could happen to Nya? "Lead the way."
They walked across a straight road as Kai looked around. Plants, trees, and wild Pokémon flourished around him.
"This is all so sudden," Kai said, half to himself. "You didn't even, like, tell me your name or anything!"
"My name is Wu," he said calmly. "But you can call me Master Wu. I have been studying martial arts for hundreds of years, and-"
"Wait, hundreds of years!?" Kai almost skidded to a halt. "How old are you?"
"Long enough to have seen the world at its greatest, and at its fall..."
"What the heck?"
"Never mind that. We're here." Master Wu stopped and turned to Kai. "I'll see you again soon, Kai."
"Wait, how'd-" He was gone. Kai stood there, stuttering incomprehensibly for a while, and then headed in, looking somewhat shaken.
Kai opened the door hesitantly, and he was immediately greeted by a young man in his early 30s.
"Hey! It's Kai from Jamanakai, right?"
" Hm? Oh. Yeah. "
"Right! This way. Your license and starter await!" He laughed a bit and beckoned for Kai to follow.
"Uh...wait, YOU'RE Professor Joshua? I thought you'd be, y'know...older."
"Huh?" The professor raised an eyebrow. " Haven't you seen me on TV?"
"Oh, we kinda never had one... I only remember seeing a big guy with a moustache."
" Oh, that was my dad...sadly, he came down sick when I was a teen, and he never woke up. " His cheery aura vanished, his eyes widening as if experiencing a flashback, but he tried to stay professional. "Well, It's time you got your license, anyway." He handed Kai a card. "Here. You're officially a Pokémon Trainer, kid."
Professor Joshua then gestured to a nearby table. "Your starter is in one of these balls. Choose wisely."
There were three columns, with eight bright, red Poké Balls in each. "Huh? Why this many?"
"Due to our lack of suitable native species, we started getting imports from other regions. It's a strange practice, but there simply aren't Pokémon in the region that are safe enough for traveling companionship. Now. ..please pick one. Choose wisely."
" Oh. Okay. " Feeling shaken from a combination of things, Kai stated long and hard at the selection of Pokémon on the table. The top middle Pokéball just seemed to glow, almost speaking to him, as if it knew Kay's destiny. "Okay. I choose this one!"
"Alright. Charmander, is it?"
"Uh...yeah! Charmander!"
"You need to protect it. If the flame on its tail goes out, it's done for. Protect it and you'll see it grow and evolve into something powerful."
"Yeah. I'll try."
Kai walked away, his new Charmander in his hand. "Alright, buddy. It's time I saw what you can do. GO, Charmander!"
He threw the ball enthusiastically. It popped open, and from a swirl of energy came his new Pokémon; a lizardlike creature that indeed had a flaming tail.

"Okay! I'm gonna name you...Flametail."
The creature looked at him, unamused.
"Flamey for short."
Aw, yes a Charmander! I suspected he'd get one of those. XD

"Alright, Flamey! It's time we set off on a journey!" Kai grinned at his new friend, then his eyes became somber. "And find my sister..."
---
Kai strolled through Jamanakai Village, Flamey holding onto his shoulder. People minded their own business, as they always did. He kept walking. Soon enough, he walked a swampy path where patches of grass began to appear.
"Alright! Let's see what Pokemon we can catch on this route!" He paid no attention to his Charmander, who was grumbling about being covered in mud.
He looked around. Slowpoke rested in the shallow waters, and Magikarp swam in the nearby pond. Croagunk sauntered through the mud, and a group of Krabby scuttled across the path.
"Aw, man? It's ALL water types?"
"Char," Flamey agreed irritably. "Mander."
He also noticed Oddish planting themselves in the ground, and Tangela waddled through the mud.
"Okay, water AND grass types, but still." Kai sighed and walked away, continuing across the muddy road, hoping he could find a city, or at least another route.
Gradually the road became drier, but so was Kai's throat. "Okay, is there a Pokémon center around here?"
"Nah, I just checked," a laid-back-sounding voice replied. Kai turned around. A young boy, around his age, stood there, a tired-looking Pichu resting on his shoulder. "Whaddya need anyway?"
"Oh, I just...need water."
The boy nodded and pulled a blue and yellow backpack off of his shoulders. He unzipped it and handed Kai a largish water bottle. "My parents packed me a bunch of stuff for the journey, heh, 'cause they wanted me to be prepared, so I got tons of stuff."
"Cute Pichu," Kai added.
"Oh. Heh heh. Thanks. His name is Sparky. Mine's Jay, by the way. Jay Walker. What's yours?"
"Kai," Kai replied and attempted to shake his hand. Feeling a sudden shock, he flinched and drew his hand back.
"Sorry. Static. Apparently I get that a lot. Anyway, nice to meet ya, Kai."
"Pi," Sparky muttered as it attempted to hold itself steady on Jay's shoulder. Jay looked at it and helped it back onto its feet, where it sat down on his shoulder.
"Nice to meet you too," Kai replied, as he observed the small, yellow creature on his new friend's shoulder.

Hey it's Jay. The Pichu and Charmander are so cute! XD
