Everyone knows the story of Kai, the nobody blacksmith who became part of a team that saved the earth, several times over. Many know the story of Zane, the revolutionarily designed android, part of the same team. Likewise, the story of Cyrus Borg, the entrepreneur who condemned Ninjago City, and then saved it. But it is very few who know the story of how Cyrus Borg acquired this technology, and fewer still know its orgin.
The story begins not in Kai’s village, nor the home of Zane, but rather in a large island rather far away from the main island of Ninjago, home to one of the largest populations of Masters of metal, fire, and electricity on the planet.
“Alvaro! The forge is going down again!” came the rough voice of Kristofer, the town blacksmith. Alvaro, an apprentice fire user of about eighteen, sighed and walked back towards the large cast iron forge, pressing his palm to a valve on the side. He barely felt the heat and hot air blowing from it, though it was hot enough to boil water and soften lead, and closed his eyes. Remembering his Master training, he reached into himself, found the power of Fire, and forced it out through his hand. There was a deafening clang, and Alvaro suddenly realized he had used far more power than he had meant to. He slowly opened his eyes. Kristofer was looking at him with a shocked expression. The lid of the forge was gone, and as Alvaro looked for it his eyes strayed upwards. There, unmistakably embedded in the ceiling, was the forge lid.
