OOC: Sure. Which general direction do they head in (north, south, east, west, etc.)? The dining hall is at the southwest corner of the complex proper, but there is other stuff farther in that direction (a hill to the west, a small lake to the southwest, and farms to the south).
OoC: I'll go with the west--to the hill--for now.
OOC: Cool. I should also mention that north or east would take you through the edge of the compound, and northeast would go straight through it, first past the tower and then toward the practice field that you came from. Southeast has another hill and some trees a ways away, and northwest is pretty much nothing.
IC: Azril and Robin walk up the small hill at the corner of the compound. At the top are a pair of narrow obelisks of white marble. Images of people, dragons, and other creatures are carved into the sides. It appears to be a monument of some kind. Maicyn is sitting in front of the larger obelisk, staring at it.

Azril stops when he sees Maicyn. He is about to turn away to give her some privacy when Robin trots forward, wagging his tail, to nudge Maicyn's hand for some affectionate pats. Azril frantically tries to gesture to the dog to come back, but Robin ignores him.

Maicyn pushes Robin away and says, without looking up, "If it isn't the hero's son and his toothless wolf. Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't found you a real Companion by now, plopped you on his back, and sent you off to save the world."

Azril's patience snaps. "What's your problem? Why do you hate me?"

"Hate you? I don't even know you. Actually, no one here does. But you can just walk on in and say your dad's name, and suddenly everyone's welcoming you and trying to find you a Companion. You know who they see when they see you? Your dad, the hero. My dad's a hero, too, Betynsohn, and so's my mom, but the only person they see when they look at me is my aunt! But I'm not her!" Maicyn turns away.

"What-- what did your aunt do?"
Maicyn says quietly, "She was my dad's sister, one of the Riders. She had a tough life, ended up making a lot of bad decisions. One of those got her smashed when I was two, and ever since then everyone's been waiting for me to start doing the same thing."

"I-- I'm sorry." He hesitates. "Why do people think you'll end up like her? Just because you're her niece?"

"I'm not trying to get attention," he protests impatiently. "And up until today, I was nobody! I wasn't expecting to even get this far."
Maicyn sighs. "We don't get a choice on these things, Azril."
"No kidding," he mumbles. He briefly reflects upon the life he led before deciding to leave home. "Look--I'm sorry people treat you like that. And I'm sorry for--stealing the show, I guess. . . ?"

"No," Maicyn says softly, "You didn't do anything."
