Hi! So I've been thinkin'...Ninjago actually has a lot in common with some other franchises. Not that it's not original, but I have noticed some aspects of it that match up with other series, and I thought it would be interesting to share it with you. Feel free to share your analogies as well!
Ninjago and Nintendo's Splatoon!
One may not think they have much in common, but they what they share is...
-An original written language (Ninjagian language and Inkling, which can both be translated (only somewhat in Inkling's case) and found all over their respective cities) (Although Splatoon also has a spoken language, which Ninjago does not, though names like "Garmadon" and "Skulkin" are made up) -An Asian-inspired city (Ninjago City (and Jamanakai Village by extension) are sort of Asian-culture hodgepodges; Inkopolis/High-Color City is based on Tokyo, and "Calamari County," where the Squid Sisters are from, could be based on rural Japan) -Octopi (Jay's elemental animal is an octopus, and he accidentally turns into one in Wu's Teas; there are in-game races "Octarian" and "Octoling," as well as straight-up octopus DJ Octavio; Octolings are also intelligent and good with technology, which reminds me of Jay and a few others.) -Whole enemy race, often partially reformed (Ninjago has the Skulkin and Serpentine, Splatoon has the Octarians and Salmonids; some of the Serpentine and Octarians have reformed, and the Skulkins seem to at least hate the Ninja less.) -Evil character trained with good intentions (Morro, Harumi; Telephone/Tartar)

Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda
-Blonde, green-haired, special/chosen-one protagonist (Link; Lloyd (Link was chosen to save Hyrule, and is a Hylian rather than a Kokiri; Lloyd was destined to protect Ninjago and is part oni/dragon instead of just "human.") -Main protagonist aged up, then ages normally (Link briefly became a teenager/young adult with the Ocarina of Time; same with Lloyd and Tomorrow's Tea, and it is implied he eventually began aging normally, such as how he hit puberty between seasons 7 and 8) -Prominent princess (Zelda; Harumi (although Harumi was evil most of her life; Zelda was not) -Rebellious/tomboyish females (Zelda, Princess Ruto, and probably many more I forgot to mention; Nya, Skylor, and I guess Harumi in a way?) -Mythological religion (Hylian goddesses (and certain tribal dieties); FSM, Oni and Dragon) -Elemental magic (Certain special moves and races like Gorons and Deku (earth), Dodongos (fire), and Zora (water); Ninjago is sort of based around this idea) -Written, but not spoken, language (Things are written in Hylian, people speak in the localized language; things are written in Ninjago language, people speak English/dubbed language; both languages are translatable) -Main couple explored through the franchise (Link and Zelda; Jay and Nya)

Ok. This one is actually really good. I would also mention how Garmadon goes through different transformations, just like Ganon, and how each of them have an army they work with (Skulkin and Bokoblins).
Both the Overlord and Commander Tartar have their own substance-based brainwashing methods! The Overlord uses Dark Matter to turn hearts black as night; Commander Tartar uses a strange goo to "sanitize" characters into doing his bidding, both of which resulting in emotionless (and discolored (black, grey and purple; blue, yellow and green)) war machines.

Ninjago has a lot of similarities with Transformers. Cyrus Borg getting forcefully turned into a cyborg by the Overlord reminded me of when the evil human mad scientist (forgot his name) was turned into a cyborg by Decepticon Starscream in the classic '80s cartoon. Speaking of Starscream, Skales had the EXACT same personality as him in the first two episodes of Ninjago season one, and even a similar voice; maybe inspiration was drawn? Possibly, because the voice actor of Pythor also voiced Starscream in the English dub of the Transformers: Armada anime.
Zane's power source in Rebooted looked like the Matrix of Leadership from Transformers: The Movie (1986), and it also looked a bit like how the Transformers' Sparks (basically their souls) are depicted in the live action movies and the Transformers: Prime TV series. Also in Rebooted, PIXAL acted a bit like Decepticon Shockwave while she was evil and building the Nindroid army. The personalities of Pythor and Cryptor in Rebooted were similar to those of Shockwave and Barricade (live action movie version for the latter), respectively. Zane's defeat of the Golden Master at the end of Rebooted was similar to Rodimus Prime's defeat of Unicron with said Matrix at the end of the '86 film. Zane/Titanium Ninja Zane's "death" in Rebooted, only to be rebuilt in a superior form later on, is the same scenario Optimus Prime/Powermaster Optimus Prime went through in the classic Tranformers Marvel comics.
In season 2 of Ninjago, the spirit of the Overlord possessing and transforming Garmadon was similar to the spirit of Unicron possessing and transforming the body of Megatron in the film Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters - Predacons Rising. Similarly, both the Skulkin army led by Garmadon and the ghost army controlled by the Preeminent are like the army of zombie Predacons controlled by Unicron in that film. The Preeminent looks similar to Unicron's planet/planet eater form in the aforementioned 1986 movie, and so Unicron's deal with the ghost of Starscream in the post-movie episodes of the classic cartoon is similar to when the ghost of Morro was working for the Preeminent.
That's all I can think of, but there might be more.

Ninjago is also similar to the game Xenoblade Chronicles. The Sword of Sanctuary is a lot like the Monado; a sword that allows the user to foresee their enemies' moves. And of course the Nindroids are like the Mechon, and the relationship between mainland Ninjago and the Dark Island (as well as the First Spinjitzu Master and the Overlord) is similar to that of the Bionis and the Mechonis.
One could also say that the Preeminent and Morro in season 5 are similar in character to Giygas and Porky, respectively, from the game Earthbound.
So, come to think of it, Ninjago has similarities with quite a few Nintendo games.
