OK, catching up with my notifications took longer than I thought, and I wanted to save reading this for when I could really enjoy it. xP But OH MY BRICKS, THE HYPE IS ON! BOOK 2 IS HERE, LADIES AND WOLFMEN!
They'd better not hurt Jadyn. Or Zechariah, but mostly Jadyn. ÒmÓ
Holy cow. What a gripping beginning, NFM. I'm internally freaking out. This is so good. ^v^ MOAR!
Yeah I understand, I'm really behind on notifications. XP Yeah!!
Well they've kinda already hurt Zechariah.
Thanks! I'll see when I get the time, hopefully sooner than later.
Indeed. o.o I felt like I had to try really hard to keep this part tame.
I'm amazed at your self-restraint. Well done. And, you know, in a way, avoiding the gory details somehow just makes the whole thing scarier, because then you're simply leaving it for your readers to imagine.

Chapter 1 A Fox in the Fold
Calvin had watched from the shadows of the den as the two newcomers had been brought in and he had watched as they took the older one, Master's son, out of the council room on a stretcher. Now he watched as the younger one, the ninja, came out of the same room unharmed. He was following Master. No one dared to come near him with Master near by, but Calvin could hear the other pack members whispering things. Curses, threats, rumours... Calvin figured he knew where Master was taking the young ninja so he headed to the hallway with the prison cells, going through the opposite way to get there that Master did. Calvin knew he probably wouldn't get there before Master because of his leg and the fact he had his crutches so he didn't bother hurrying to much. Sure enough, by the time Calvin had reached the hallway Master was already walking away from the cells. He knew that it wouldn't be long before the other pack members would want to check out the elemental master. Calvin walked up to each cell and glanced inside until he found one with someone starring back at him. Calvin recognized him right away. This was the new master of fire. His expression was currently grim and hard to read. What was his name again? Calvin couldn't remember. He did remember that he and his team had snuck into the den to help rescue Master's granddaughter though. " Who are you? " Asked the master of fire. " Why do you care? " Asked Calvin in a casual tone. " I was just asking. " Said the youth looking away. He seemed lonely. Dispite the fact that this ninja was a danger, Calvin couldn't help but feel a little pity for him. " The name's Calvin, student rank. " " I'm Jadyn, Alpha just made me fox rank, although I'm not sure what that means. " He replied looking at Calvin. Calvin was shocked. " He did what?! Why? " " Made me fox rank, I don't know why yet exactly, something to do with a prophecy. " Prophecy? What prophecy? " I don't know anything about a prophecy. " " He said something about telling the pack more information later tonight. " " That's good. But how is haveing you here any help?" Asked Calvin. " I don't know, right now I'm just glad to be alive. "
Calvin studied Jadyn for a moment and then said. " You are different from what I thought you'd be like. " " How so? " Asked Jadyn. Calvin thought for a second and then said. " I don't know, I just figured you'd be more prideful and arrogant. That you'd have a short temper and all the power you have would be in your head. And I don't know, I guess I just thought you'd seem less human too. " " Really? " Said Jadyn showing a slight smirk. Calvin suddenly heard the sound of other pack members coming down the hallway. " I wouldn't pay them any mind. " Calvin advised Jadyn gesturing in the direction he heard the warriors were coming from. He then limped away down the hallway, swiftly moving his crutches in hopes of getting away from there before the other warriors realized he had spoken to the fox. He didn't stop until he reached his room on the lowest level of the den. He set his crutches aside and collapsed on his bed in exhaustion. He brushed his brown bangs out of his eyes and starred at the bunk above him. So they were allowing elemental masters into the pack now. Why? They were always so picky about who was allowed in and the elemental masters were the bad guys, the foxes, the monsters. That's what he had always been told. His mother had reluctantly shared with him the story of the ansectors. She was the sister of Alfida, Master's wife. Why had his mother left the pack? Why had she never spoken of the pack much? Was it because of father? Calvin never got a response when he had asked her these things. Calvin decided to stop thinking about all of that. His mind wandered to Azalea, she had never came back from her mission, the mission she prepared for and put so much into. Part of himself was angry with Master for letting this happen, but part of him was also angry with himself for being angry at Master. This wasn't the first time he had battled with himself about his loyalty to Alpha and the pack. He deserved student rank... He didn't know what to think or believe anymore, all he could do was cling to what he had always known. He sighed. Where are you Azalea? You always know what to say when I'm feeling like this...
