I'm working on starting a single-topic RP based on the world of my stories "Half-Breed" and "Dreamspinner". I know all of you have read at least a little of those and also have shown some interest in the past in Castle-adjacent RPs, so I was wondering if you would be interested in joining. You would be playing as new recruits to the Riders (formerly the Dragon Riders) and the RP would be based on the mission(s) (depending on whether there is enough activity to keep going after the first) you go on with them. Since I know a lot of people have difficulty being super active, I would just ask that you post once or twice a week. Let me know if you want to join and I'll tell you when the topic's up.
*Blows fine layer of dust off of notifications and clicks on them*
I have finally arrived. Apologies, I'm sixteen days late. CONsidering joining... Not sure if I'll be able to retain sufficient activity though.

That's okay. I'd appreciate it if you gave it a try, but I understand if you can't. I just posted the topic so you can check it out if you want.

Species (Updated Version, Part One of Three)
Goblins: Goblins are a humanoid species. Their skin is generally a shade of green or sometimes gray or brown, and their eyes are yellow, while their hair is black or brown. Their ears, noses, and chins are pointed and angular, and their teeth are pointier than human teeth. They are shorter than humans, usually no more than four feet tall, and also thinner than the average human. However, they are stronger than they look, as well as fast and agile. Their lifespans are shorter than humans’. Goblin society is organized into tribes, each led by a Chieftain, Warlord, and Shaman. Goblins tend to live in more isolated areas of varying geography.
Humans: You know this one. Locally, the highest concentration of humans is in the east. They can be found throughout the continent and across the sea.
Elves: Shorter and slimmer than humans, they have pointed ears and angular, often delicate, features. Elves are known for their agility and surprising strength, and for their wisdom, which may or may not be exaggerated, depending on who you ask. They live for much longer than the length of the human lifespan, but not forever. Elves often live in forests.
Dwarves: Much shorter and stouter than humans, they have large features and almost all have beards. Dwarves are known for their strength and determination, and for their excellent craftsmanship, as well as for the very long names of their royalty. They are more private than elves, but most people see at least one in their lives. Dwarves often live in mountains.
The Ancients: Some of the oldest beings in the world, the Ancients were a group of 111 immensely powerful beings created spontaneously by pure, untamed magic. Each could take many forms, but most had preferred forms that were roughly humanoid with various alterations. Based on these forms, many of them (specifically those of the fifth generation and some of the fourth) created their own species, some of which still live today. After millennia of steadily increasing tensions, their differences came to a head in a long and terrible war which saw a once verdant forest reduced to an empty desert, their temples abandoned, most of their species destroyed, and all but three smashed. Today, only the Keeper of Souls survives.
Vampyre: One of the Ancient-born species, the Vampyre are today largely unknown because of their secluded lifestyle and small population. The Vampyre are smaller than humans and extremely pale. They have black hair, slightly pointed ears, and red eyes. Their one notable ability is the power to transfer life force out of other living things and into themselves. However, very few of them actually use this ability because of the devastating toll it takes on the environment around them.
Giants: Two to three times as tall as humans, they resemble them for the most part, though they tend to have larger ears and noses and curlier hair. Because of their large size, giants tend to have trouble with finer crafts, though this doesn’t necessarily mean they are uncivilized. Giants tend to be rather hostile towards outsiders, which has often been attributed to a history of hostility towards giants.
The Other: The Other are a mysterious species born in a magical plane. They spend the first parts of their lives as immortal, ageless blobs of energy. When they are deemed worthy, they are given the gift of mortality and sent to the mortal plane. Once there, they take the form of an individual of any humanoid, non-Ancient-born species. This essentially means humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and goblins. They live longer than the species they assume the forms of and tend to have higher magical ability, but other than that cannot be distinguished from actual individuals of these species by the untrained eye. The mortal Other are led by an eleven-member Council that also keeps watch over other mortal affairs.
Lizardfolk: Lizardfolk are one of the Ancient-born species and live primarily in the desert. They are slightly larger than humans, covered in scales, and possess lizardlike heads. Their scales come in a variety of colors, mostly shades of green, brown, and gray. Lizardfolk are strong and tough, but often aggressive. Their numbers have begun to dwindle, and this has caused them to pursue alliances with orcs.
Orcs: Somewhat larger than humans, they have small tusks and a range of skin tones similar to that of goblins. Orcs are considered less intelligent than humans (though this isn’t true) and are known for their strength and short tempers. Because of their close relation to goblins and the commonalities shared by their societies, the two species have long been allies. More recently, orcs have begun to pursue alliances with the Lizardfolk due to their similarities.
Lupine: The Lupine are humanoids with wolf-like fur, heads, and legs. They are more savage than other species and this has caused them problems throughout their history. Like most of the Ancient-born species, the Lupine have dwindled, and today there are no known predominantly Lupine towns. They tend to fight among themselves more than other Ancient-born species, which has only exacerbated the problems.
Mermians: Mermians are the most prosperous of the Ancient-born species, likely due to their ability to live underwater and their more peaceful lifestyle. Like most of the Ancient-born species, they are humanoid, but have fishlike scales, webbed fingers and toes, and hair that is more like thin tentacles than actual hair. Their scales are seen in a rainbow of colors, from deep red to aquamarine. Most of the Mermians are concentrated in and around the City by the Sea, which they helped the humans to build, or on other coasts in smaller towns.
Falkrions: Centuries ago, the Falkrions were allies of the Mermians, but they were destroyed in a terrible war and fled to the west. They haven’t been seen in this part of the world since. Falkrions are covered in feathers in shades of brown and sometimes black or gray. They have birdlike beaks and talons and wings that allow them to fly. They are intelligent and agile but relatively fragile and are one of the Ancient-born species.
Arachnidians: Even less known than the Vampyre, the Arachnidians are another of the Ancient-born species. Their lower bodies are those of spiders, and their upper bodies and heads are vaguely humanoid but still reminiscent of spiders. They are one of the most diverse species, having a huge variety of colorations, sizes, and features. Many are powerful warriors but today they use their skills almost exclusively for hunting.
Trolls: Little is known about trolls because they are very rare in this part of the world. Up to twice the height of humans and three times as wide, they sport prominent tusks. Their skin ranges in shades of green, gray, and brown. They are considered savage and relatively unintelligent, and originate across the ocean, where they have long been driven out of their ancestral homes and now reside largely on various islands.
Yeah, none of ours were huge. They're just not the cool thing to do on campus.
No. I should do some, but I don't.
That's unfortunate.
If you're still interested in the Riders RP, I'm going to post the topic either tonight if I have time or tomorrow. I'll tag you and the other people I've talked to, but I haven't decided yet whether to put it in Castle or Classics.
Yeah, I feel like it could be a vacuum for time, seems like something you could always work at improving at.
Yeah, I was really hoping for an active writing club. We had one first semester, but it never resurfaced second semester.

I'm thinking of having a Lizardfolk character for the new RP, is there anything I need to know or should keep in CONsideration if I choose somebody from that race?

I found the topic before I found this.
If I want to contribute to the team, it's something I need to do.

Not really. They mostly come from the area specified on the map, but I'd imagine there could be a sizable number now residing in the City by the Sea.

You could try to restart it.
That's good.
Do you guys do competitions and everything?
I was planning on it, but now I'm not sure I want to put forth the effort. I'm already an officer for the Hunger Coalition club, and I might end up with a position in the Frisbee Golf club.

Gotchya! As for the companion, is there any in particular that would make a more logical match for a Lizardfolk? Do the lizardfolk have any particular affinity to the water or anything?

Not really. It would probably depend on where he's from. If he's from the desert, a desert dragon would probably make the most sense, or something else that would live there. If he's traveled around a lot, though, it could be anything. Again, not really. The City by the Sea is just a sort of hub for a lot of people, and is one of the very few locations that's not dominated by a particular species.

I'm getting around again.
We do. I went to one.
That's fair. There's only so much you can do.
Was it against another school?
Yeah, especially since I'm only a sophomore. Trying to head up a club on my second year might be a bit ambitious.

Okay, I'll keep this in mind. Just how lizardlike are the Lizardfolk? Like, are they coldblooded? Do they have tails?
