Several months ago, as "Dreamspinner" began to move towards its conclusion, I began thinking about what projects I wanted to pursue next. After some thought, three ideas for stories set in the Half-Breed world arose and I began to develop them. The first is called (at least for now) "In the Land of the Shattered Crown: A Castle Story". It follows the Riders several years after "Dreamspinner" as they travel to a mysterious land on a mission, and, as one might guess, it involves a lot of characters and plot lines drawn from the Castle RP. The second is "At the Edge of the World: A Riders Story". It is about a group of Riders a few years after "In the Land of the Shattered Crown" going on a mission to the far north to capture a thief who has stolen powerful magical objects. The third is "Ashes to Ashes" (no subtitle yet) and is about a small group of mercenaries from across the sea (the same continent where "In the Land of the Shattered Crown" takes place) being recruited for a mysterious job involving traveling all the way across the main Half-Breed continent. It takes place about twenty years after "Dreamspinner". I workshopped these ideas for a while, developing outlines and pulling in characters, but a couple months ago I decided it was an unreasonable expectation to think I could finish and post all of these stories. At that time, I began shifting my focus to a different project, a prequel story in the style of a historical biography that would explain the history of Septimus Merlinsson. However, as I began thinking more about this, I started adding in other stories. To tell Septimus's story properly, it would need to also explain the stories of Zachaery Thoran, Graylin, and Septimus's other apprentices. And to adequately tell Zachaery Thoran's story, it would need to include an explanation of how Kelrin Dragonsblood gained his army and rose to power. With all of these elements, it became too unwieldy to work well, and so I decided to pivot once again to an entirely different Half-Breed project. This would be a single-topic RP set thirty years after "Dreamspinner". People would play as new recruits for the Riders. I planned out their first mission, as well as the beginnings of a few more, in case it lasted long enough. I also wrote up a complete history of the Riders in preparation for this RP, filling in the gaps between stories. Over the last couple weeks, though, I've come to the conclusion that it is unlikely I would have enough active members in this RP to run it properly, even if I only require them to post once or twice a week (which I was planning to do, since we're all busy). Therefore, I have arrived back at "In the Land of the Shattered Crown". I've written the first few chapters now, but I'm taking a break to figure out all the characters (I'm still looking for a couple for the next chapter). So, if I can finish this story, and post it, that is what I plan to do next. If there is enough interest in the Riders RP (I'm hoping for three members) I can do that as well. And even if I can't finish the stories, I may still post summaries of what I planned to write, assuming there is sufficient interest.
You're refreshingly frustrating. Here, have a triangle. Surely you can figure it out.
The triangle is my favorite shape.
No tongue-smiley, because that's a true fact.
It is the strongest shape. I have a friend who has a theory that friend groups are strongest in threes, following the principle that triangles are the strongest shape.

Good gravy, your brain has been busy.
All of these sound lit, I'm down for any/all. As far as the RP goes, I'd kind of love to see a new RP get started, I'm down and would try to commit. I plan to stay active at least twice a week till the end of the summer at least, but I can't make promises for after that.

So much planning and processing. . . o_O I applaud your creative talent and dedication. U,U
I'm with Con; I look forward to seeing what new intricate plots, detailed battles, and memorable characters you have in store for us. And I'm totally down for the RP. I'd love to help you keep an RP here going. I have a wacky summer ahead of me, so my activity might not always be the most reliable, but I'm pretty confidant that I'll be here often enough to make regular appearances and contributions.

It does that sometimes.
That's good to hear. As long as you do your best, as I know you will, I'd love to have you on board.

Great! Let's see if we can't find one more person, and then I'll get it started.

You're welcome! ^.^
I'll see about asking around if anyone I know will want to join, if that'll help.
