Sylvester returns to the castle. How would he like to go about finding and acquiring an audience with the duchess?
Knowing the duchess is a woman, Sylvester decides to ask if he can dance for her and display his manly figure for her entertainment
Asking around, he learns that the duchess's husband, the duke, passed away a year ago due to injuries sustained during battle. That might not be the best appeal, but he could certainly petition for an audience.

He petitions for an audience and decides to respectfully tone down his manly charms
Feeling on edge after the recent attack, Azril lets his gaze rove around their surroundings in search of any more suspicious signs.
Scanning the walls, Azril does see something out of place. Where most of the tunnel is crafted to be perfectly smooth, one rectangular section of the wall, about the size of a hand and shoulder-height, projects outward just slightly.

Azril approaches this section, curious. "This looks odd..."

Sylvester approaches one of the soldiers in the central part of the fortress and makes his request. "What do you require from our duchess?" asks the soldier.

Looking closer, he can see a hair-thin gap between the protruding section and the rest of the wall. It may not be locked in place.

"Soldiers, adventurers, and/or heroes who are willing to fight a wyrm with me inside a dungeon-"

The soldier looks over him appraisingly. "A dungeon?"

Sylvester goes on to describe the dungeon in great detail and what led him to go inside in the first place
"He led you to a cave entrance near the fortress? Ah, the griffon man's passage. And there was a dragon? Yes, you should speak with the duchess. Just one moment." He leads Sylvester to the audience chamber and enters, motioning for Sylvester to stay behind.

He uses this time to think about how it would have been fun to dance for her anyway, and fantasizes about her no doubt attractive appearance
Everyone hears the sound of a tolling bell. They look around at one another, unsure what is going to happen next. A couple minutes pass and they hear footsteps coming from the other side of the barrier. Soon, a strange-looking man comes into view. His skin is inky black and heavily wrinkled. A few strands of pale, almost translucent hair drift down from the back of his scalp beneath his conical golden hat. He is wearing crimson robes and carrying a golden staff topped with two circular rings. A pair of pointed elven ears frame his face. Looking out at the group assembled beyond the barrier, he reaches out a hand a presses it against the wall. The barrier fades.
"Welcome, heroes. To have reached my home, you must be either very skilled or very luck. Or perhaps a very realistic figment of my imagination." He pauses for a moment in thought. "No, I think not. Regardless, as you know, the world is on the brink of destruction. Velasco's last prophecy has led you here, to find the singular item that can be used to save it." The man slams his staff against the floor, and two gouts of flame erupt from the sides. "Please, enter."
OOC: To clarify, none of you have any idea what he's talking about or who Velasco is. Here is what the man looks like, by the way:
