Dust can be seen rising on the road that leads to the Forest HQ.
The wingless griffin, Jednook, appears on the track, steadily trotting with two saddle baskets which are covered with tied-down sackcloth. On his back, his master Goatie rides, preoccupied with flexing a large long bow.
They amble to the HQ entrance, and Goatie calls: 'Hail!'

He is recognized and the gates open. He is met by the sight of around 15? soldiers. There seems to be a great number of them gone.

Goatie rides in. He halts Jednook by the weaponry and starts unloading the saddle baskets, handing them to those in charge of the stores.
'Arms, bought per Harfor's request - five crossbows with bolts, and fourteen short swords; plus this beaut,' he adds, shouldering his own new long bow. 'I used it to get some food on the way back from the Mercenary Village - I'll take that to the kitchens now.' He gestures at his griffin, on the back of whom is draped a boar wrapped in sackcloth. 'Is Harfor here? I must report my return.'
Jednook moves close to his master, making happy, crow-like noises as Goatie scratches his head feathers.

An older soldier speaks up. " Harfor is away on secretive business. However I was instructed that if you return the items would go to the defending soldiers.

Goatie, having unloaded all the weaponry, salutes. 'Alright, guv, very good,' he says. 'Here's the kit - I'll be on my way then!'
He leads Jednook off to the kitchens, wondering what to do with himself after dropping off the boar. Perhaps there was another errand he could go on . . . ?

I do have a way to get all of the soldiers out of the fortress. I would like you to move a force a short distance from the fortress, where they can get in quickly, but won't be seen by anyone approaching the fortress. When I give the word, they may enter the fortress to help me hold it. You should also send a group to the Dragon Kingdom's castle, but keep them hidden some distance away. When Lord Amvion returns, ask to begin negotiations. This may help us stall, or it could resolve our problems outright. Finally, you should have hidden soldiers patrolling the border. If they see any armed forces crossing, they should immediately send word to your camp and the fortress, without being seen.

Harfor reads the letter, the calls Merek to get the forces assembled. Merek and some of the more friendly soldiers are given the spot by the Dragon Kingdom, though they are told to be carefull and take a round about way. A small company of scouts and speedy soldiers are sent to patrol the border. The rest of the troops, including Karthon Siku, and Kalena, go to the spot Harfor was told to put them. A few soldiers are left behind. The scouts leave right away. The other groups begin marching, travelling stealthily.

With the sun setting, a messenger arrives at the camp by the fortress. He wears Dragon Knights livery, but there is a green sash tied around his waist. "I am loyal to Gidie, not the Dragons. He sent me with this letter." He holds out a folded piece of paper marked with Gidie's seal.

Harfor thanks the messenger and asks him to wait close by. Then he opens it.

There has been a change in the plans. Additional information has arisen that I must take into account. Keep your soldiers here and on the border, in case something happens, but withdraw those at the Dragon Knights castle for the time being. I will explain more later, once I know what I need to do.

Horfor gives those orders sending messengers to the troops near the Dragon Knights. Then he sends 3 troops to the Forest Castle to take care of things there, make sure everything's in order, etc.
