The rest of the meal passes mostly in silence. When they are done, the Black Knight dismisses Sanfor. By this time, it is quite dark outside; the rest of the recruits are probably asleep.
Sanfor heads for the walls to catch a bit of moonlight before he heads for the barracks.

Sanfor heads for the walls to catch a bit of moonlight before he heads for the barracks.
Before he gets far, he is grabbed by the arm and pulled into a dark room. "What did he say to you?" asks a voice.
A second chimes in, "Oh, don't be so dramatic."
A candle is lit, flooding the room with a flickering light that reveals Garal and Bakar. Garal motions to a chair facing the two of them. "Sit down. We need to talk."

Garal sighs. "Can we trust you? These secrets are not ones we can share lightly. If we're wrong, we may be guilty of treason. If we're right, the whole kingdom is in danger."
Bakar scowls at him. "What did I say about being dramatic? Look, kid, we need to know, are your loyalties to the kingdom or to the leadership?"

Cautiously, he says, "All I know of the kingdom comes from the leadership."

Bakar grunts. "Fair point, I guess. This was a mistake, but we're too far now to turn back. Here's the situation: I'm not sure the Black Knight is who he says he is. We don't trust him We brought you here because we want to know anything he might have said to you that could tell us what's really going on, or, better, anything that could let me know I'm wrong."

"I do not know what a Black Knight is supposed to look like or act like, but this man does show a reluctance to show his face." Is all Sanfor is willing to give.

"That's actually a point in his favor," says Bakar. "I suppose a history lesson is in order. The kings of the Shadow Kingdom have held the title Black Knight for as long as it's existed. Longer, even; the tradition dates back to before it was an independent nation. The previous Black Knight was a man called Valithor Icebeard. He disappeared around a year ago, during the invasion. Before him, it was a man whose true name remains unknown and who always kept his face covered by his helmet. I served as a member of his Shadow Guard until he disappeared several years ago. Now, the current Black Knight claims to be that same man. I don't believe him. You're here because you may have information that can lead us to the truth. So, do you have anything more to say?"

"I know little, and what I have to offer I have given you." Sanfor says.

"You may go then," says Garal. The candle is snuffed out, leaving Sanfor to find his way out of the room in the dark.

"Very helpful." Sanfor mumbles, and stumbles back to his sleeping quarters.
He wakes up in the morning and trains as normal. He begins his reading and writing lessons that night with the servant. Alaia is invited to the Black Knight's dinner that evening, and Mitel the evening after that. On the third night since Sanfor's meal with the Black Knight, none of them are invited. He has now spoken to them all.

Sanfor wonders if all of them were interrogated by Bakar and Garal after the dinner, but doesn't ask.

Training and lessons continue. Sanfor is not approached again, but he feels a building tension in the castle. The other recruits begin to stay out at night, returning to the bunks ever later, but no one will say what is going on. At training, Alaia and Sanfor are gradually pushed to the side by the other recruits as they group together. One day, Alpida visits to oversee the training. She shows up again the next day, and Garal does as well. For the next two days, both continue to watch the training from different sides of the courtyard, not speaking to one another.
OOC: Sorry this took so long. I wasn't quite sure what to do next.

OOC: You good, I wouldn't have seen it until a couple of days ago anyways.
Sanfor remains bewildered, trying to stay out of whatever is brewing, but feeling very out of the loop, and hence threatened.
