"Yes, my lady," says Ivor, moving to one side of her.
OOC: I appreciate your efforts to post here despite your trouble with activity.
Azril hastily moves to the other side of her, copying his comrade's movement.
Lady Valerie wanders down to the training area slowly, where she finds Daniel standing in a empty space, slashing at imaginary foes.
"Daniel! Come over here."
The young knight looks slightly annoyed at being disturbed, but evidently does not want to upset his aunt, and hastens to obey her command.
"Yes, Aunt Valerie?"
"Lord Urbien would like to see you. I'll explain on the way."
Daniel sheathes his sword, looking reluctant but curious. As they move off towards Lord Urbien's study, Ivor and Azril might catch snatches of Valerie informing her nephew of the messenger's visit, and the task he is to undertake.
Lady Valerie smiles benignly at Azril and Ivor. "I just need to take a walk down to the to the training yard."
"Yes, my lady," says Ivor, moving to one side of her.
OOC: I appreciate your efforts to post here despite your trouble with activity.
OOC: Thank you. I'll be busy throughout May, so my activity won't be increasing in the next few weeks, but I should have a lot of time available starting in June, so I'm hoping to start posting more often then.

When they reach the study, Valerie and Daniel are let in immediately. As the door is shut behind them, Ivor and Azril are only able to hear the sounds of Urbien greeting his guests.
Inside the room, Urbien gestures for Valerie and Daniel to sit in the provided chairs. "Welcome. As you may have already heard, Daniel, I have asked you here because I want you to lead the expedition to the Abandoned Fortress. It will be a small force, no more than a score, plus a complement of servants, enough to secure the fortress and begin operations but not too many that they may be seen as a threat. You may choose your companions, of course, though I do have some recommendations." His tone makes it clear that those might be a little more than 'recommendations.' "Any questions?"

The two take their seats, and listen intently to Urbien's explenation. Before Daniel can speak, Lady Valerie leans forward slightly in her chair to question Urbien. "What is the situation at the fortress, currently? Is there anything to suggest goblins may have taken up residence there again?"

"That is part of the job of the mission, to discover whoever may currently be occupying the fortress."

Across the rolling hills of the Lion Knights' kingdom, a pitiful sight can be seen making its slow way, travelling south-west from the direction of the Forest - and of the Abandoned Fortress.
A man dressed in green sits limply - unable to hold up his head, right arm draped lifelessly on his right thigh wrapped in cloth - astride his lame steed. Goatie, for that is the wounded man's name, feebly tugs at his reins, but the action proves too much for his weak self. He flops forwards across the neck of his animal.
His steed, head also lolling in fatigue, stops short as it fears its master will fall to the ground. This is no normal beast of burden - it is a griffin, like a lion, like a horse and like an eagle, but with no wings. Curiously it wears an eyepatch. The griffin remains stock-still, with the wind of the hills blowing its feathers grimy, and waits for its master to stir.
