Welcome to the Lion Knights HQ! The Lion Kingdom is the westernmost kingdom, bordered to the east by the Dragon and Shadow Kingdoms, to the west by the Cliffs of Despair and the Endless Sea, and to the North by the Mountains. It is a land of rolling hills and fertile dales.
Positions King (x1): Open (Shamrock7203 has priority for this position) Senior General (x1): Open Minor General (x3): Open x2 (one spot claimed by RuleJJ) Captain (x6): Open Soldier (infinite)
One year ago, Lord Demiu disappeared after the war with the Xains. This has caused the people of the Lion Kingdom to decide the time is right to find a new king. No qualified candidates have yet come forth, but the kingdom suffered less in the invasion than any of the others and no one feels rushed to fill this position.

Urbien Class: Knight/Herbist Gender: Male Age: 48 Race: Human Description: Lord Urbien is tall and broad-shouldered, but past his prime. His brown hair is starting to recede, and he wears a thin beard. Lord Urbien wears robes that befit his station, usually in a deep blue. Equipment: No longer a soldier, Lord Urbien typically does not carry a sword. Backstory: Lord Urbien is the cousin of the late Duke Arthurian and one of the most powerful lords in the kingdom. Many years ago, he fought alongside his cousin in the Lion Knights. Until recently, he spent most of the time at his home, but the events of the Xain Invasion have caused him to return to the castle. Now he is one of the voices seeking to find a new king, or perhaps to become that. He is also the most vocal advocate of taking over the Abandoned Fortress. Position: Minor General

Lady Valerie Class: Herbist Gender: Female Age: 81 Race: Human Description: Lady Valerie is not small, but isn’t the tallest. Her skin is wrinkled and her hair greyer than her eyes, almost white. Equipment: Having retired from active life, Valerie does not tend to carry much other than her cane, although she tends to have some useful herbs concealed on her person out of habit. Backstory: Valerie is related to most of the noble families in the kingdom by some degree, and competent in politics. Once a great healer famed throughout the land, she now spends her time at her country home. Her husband was a powerful nobleman, but was fatally wounded in a jousting accident some decades ago. Valerie tried to heal him, but his injuries were too great. Struck with grief, Lady Valerie retreated to her country home and hasn’t seen anyone but her closest relatives and servants since. However, rumour has it that she is making her way to the castle. Old she may be, but her cousins, nephews, and nieces number among enough families that she is widely respected and may be able to influence the identity of the next King. Rank: Minor General
Daniel Class: Knight Gender: Male Age: 19 Race: Human Description: Daniel is tall, broad and muscular with brown hair and green eyes. Equipment: Daniel carries a longsword and dirk, and on occasion wears a full suit of plate armour. Backstory: Daniel is one of Lady Valerie’s younger great-nephews, raised in a small keep as the youngest of several brothers. He is a brave warrior, who wanted to ride under Lord Demiu against the Xain invaders but was on a mission in a distant part of the Kingdom and returned too late. Fierce and headstrong, he has little patience for diplomacy and politics. He is travelling with his aunt to the capital. He may just be with her to act as an escort, but perhaps she has another motive in bringing him. Rank: Soldier
Sir Lucas Class: Knight-Archer Gender: Male Age: 32 Race: Human Description: Lucas is tall and handsome with short golden hair and blue eyes. Equipment: Lucas carries a greatsword and wears typically wears a blue tunic with the emblem of the Lion Knights embroidered upon it. In battle, he wears a suit of armour and surcoat with the name symbol. Backstory: Lucas is a veteran of the Lion Knights, having served them in many battles. Most recently, he became known as the only one of them to ride to battle against the Xains and live to tell the tale. Due to this, he is viewed as one of the best soldiers in the Lion Knights. Rank: Captain

Welcome back! I'm excited for some political battles with Urbien.
Upon the upper ramparts of the Castle of the Lion, sentinels spy a small procession approaching. It consists of a mounted knight and a small carriage, followed by two wagons and some twenty retainers.
As they draw closer, the word spreads like wildfire - a noble of great importance is about to arrive. The carriage moves slowly upon the roads, giving the castle’s inhabitants time to prepare themselves and come to the courtyard to greet the newcomer if they so wish.

Lord Urbien busies himself making sure everything is in place, while several servants work to make him look his best. When he is ready, he goes down to join the group greeting the new arrivals.

The company slowly enter the courtyard, coming to a halt before Lord Urbien and the others. Two of the servants jump down from the back of the carriage and open one of its doors, unfolding a short set of wooden steps. An aged woman in a lilac dress embroidered with flowers climbs out, leaning on her walking cane.
Lady Valerie brushes back her hair upon reaching the ground, before approaching the waiting group at a sedate pace. "My lords," she says with a smile.

He mimics her searching look. "Thank you for your condolences, Lady Valerie. That he was. The kingdom has suffered without him. When it comes time to select a new king, we can only hope to choose someone like Arthurian."

Lady Valerie shivers slightly, wishing she'd brought another layer. "Yes, his kind make for great rulers." The elderly lady pauses for a moment as the armoured man who rode before the carriage dismounts and removes his helm. "May I present my great-nephew, Daniel?"

"If the cold bothers you, perhaps we should go inside. You're not as young as you were." Urbien is silent for a second, and then smiles his familiar thin smile. "A pleasure see you again, Daniel. I believe we met once before, when you were but a child. You may not remember it."
