After several minutes, she speaks again. "You may enter."
He shuffles inside. "Er, hello. I am called Liam."
Inside, he sees a middle-aged woman, graying just slightly, sitting in a wooden chair facing the door. The room is packed with miscellaneous, scrolls, books, herbs, and other ingredients, bursting from their storage shelves to carpet several areas of the floor. "I am Gayia. So, what do you want?"

He stares around the room. His mouth forms a little "o." "This is...oh gosh...so much..." He makes a complete revolution.

"Stop." Her voice is commanding, the kind that makes you want to obey. "Tell me. Why are you here?"
"Shelter." He glances at her open-faced, almost boyishly. "They are coming for me."
"Who?"
"They who cannot be mentioned." He says, and shudders.
OOC: There is nobody after him (unless you want there to be), but his former life has left him a bit delusional, he lived in a constant state of paranoia and now it's stuck.

"The fact remains, you came here to hide, not to be my apprentice. I will not take on one who does not truly want it. Go."
Because he has no dignity left in his body, Liam grovels at her feet. "Please, I want to learn! Teach me!"
OOC:
Gayia sighs. "I will not make you my apprentice. But I do need someone to help out around the place, to keep things organized. Perhaps if you don't prove incompetent you may yet earn your chance."

Liam is not as pleased with this as possibly expected, but does accept.

"Very good." Gayia points to the back wall, which is half covered by a series of cubbies full of scrolls piled haphazardly. "You may begin there."
