Temptation arrives at the village around early afternoon, just after lunchtime. His stomach is squirming and moaning with hunger pains, his feet are sore from trekking so far, and his body pleads for him to sit down and rest. However, he kept on marching through the woods, over the hills, down the roads, and finally into the little village. His only thoughts are of Joy. It's the part of day when farmers and villagers finish eating their lunches and are reluctantly returning to their work. The small town isn't quite as busy as it was when everyone was preparing for the festival, with only a few groups of people and individuals drifting up and down the cobblestone streets and crossing the square. Some of the citizens cast Temptation curious stares as he brushes by them, noting his travelers' cloak, weapons, and knapsack slung over his shoulder. Thankfully, none stop to question him. He doesn't stop to admire the cute little town in daylight at its calm hours. He heads straight for the inn where he and Joy stayed, where he had left her at the order of his uncle. He rounds the corner and arrives at the inn just as a dark, horse-drawn carriage, which happens to resemble those that were used to carry off condemned criminals, is moving away down the street at a steady pace. Temptation ignores the carriage, walks up to the door of the inn, and bangs loudly. "Oh, heaven help me, what now?" The voice of the innkeeper cries out from inside, muffled by the door. "Open up!" Temptation responds. Then, on an afterthought, he adds. "Um, please." The door opens to reveal the innkeeper. He glares at the young man, looking rather frazzled and flustered. "What is it?" "Is she still here?" "Who?" "My friend. We stayed here last night, and--" "Ohh, that's right," The older man exclaims, arching his dark eyebrows. "You're the--" He stops, face paling. "They told me you're a criminal. You should be in jail." "Who told you that?" Temptation demands. "They. Th--those men." He gestures down the street where the carriage had just disappeared. "They came and told me I had let in two criminals," The man stammers. "They just took the girl away."
