So uh, I'm not exactly naïve. I don't seriously believe that a single petition can push an agenda through without massive support and constant harassment lobbying. With this preface in mind, on to the topic at hand.
Say you're a weeb. A total weeb. You love anime, manga, samurai, the works, you want to actually BE a samurai! Now let's say you've achieved the rank of samurai on this website... great! (or sugoi, I should say!) except of course when you rank up... then you're not a samurai anymore.
Say you love knights, you really, REALLY love knights. You love the swords, the shields, the maces, the armor, everything. Now let's say you've achieved the rank of knight on this website... great! Except of course, when you rank up... then you're not a samurai anymore.
Say you're a Scottsman. But not just that, a true Scottsman! You own a kilt or two, and you're proud of your heritage. Your blood boils when you hear of England's greed and mistreatment of the Scottish people. Now let's say you've achieved the rank of highland battler on this website... great! Except of course when you rank up... then you're not a highland battler anymore.
An even more extreme example: what if you REALLY like cavemen for some reason. Maybe you really love the Flintstones? Caveman is literally the very first rank on this website, and after a couple of days of posting, you'll never be a caveman again unless you keep making alt-accounts.
Does anyone see where I'm going with this?
Ranks on the LMBs where determined by what the rank was, and not the number of the rank. If you were rank 1, people would see you as a caveman... period. If you were a knight, you were a knight... until you ranked up, then you're suddenly a highland battler. And if you're REALLY dedicated and hang out for an ABSURDLY long time on this website, you'll eventually be an alien... and then you won't rank up again. So you BETTER like aliens.
This website's goal is to emulate the LMBs as closely as possible, and to have an environment similar if not identical to the LMBs I have a point to make here, but there's a character limit preventing me from finishing my idea in the first post... thanks Helios.
Anyway, where were we? Ah, yes: once you rank up, you can never be the rank you really liked ever again. Not unless you're an alien.
This in turn severely limits profile customization and assigns to you pre-determined identities based entirely on how much you've posted on the the site, thus discouraging you from participating for fear of outgrowing your favorite rank.
A suggestion, therefore: let there be a separation from what is currently known as a "rank" and that rank's numerical value. In other words, allow people to choose from a list of titles they unlock as they rank up. AT THE SAME TIME, however, and people don't seem to get this when I push for it in the Talk to the Mods Topic: show a number on a person's profile to indicate how many times they've ranked up.
This way, you can EITHER be a rank 6 knight, or a rank 7 knight, or even a rank 30 knight. People will still know how many times you've ranked up, but they will also know that you have chosen to be a knight.
People who liked the old system would still of course be able to use the ranks that correspond to their current number. There could never be a rank 1 alien, for example.
My goal is to see how many people would actually appreciate this idea, so if you happen to see this: don't be shy, change does not happen if nobody talks.

Was that mistake an accident?
Oh for the love of crud...
And worst part is I can't go back and edit it now T_T
For the record I demand that the people who see this petition and agree with its idea actually leave behind a corroborating reply so that I don't have to be alone when I say I want to be a knight again

I think the anime part would correlate to Ninja more... Everyone wants to be the next Naruto/Boruto or whatever is going on As for the others they are spot on. So I sign?

Cause I kept clicking on the topic and feeling like I should reply or something.
Well, I am partial to revolutions. Will we get to torch stuff?
If by torch stuff you mean incrementally and eventually convince the design team to create/install a plugin that allows us to choose our ranks as we 'unlock' them so to speak, yes. We get to torch stuff.
