Run! My mind screamed and my body scrambled to respond. Behind me, sirens wailed and I could hear the sound of the Enforcer's jet packs bearing down on me.
I darted into an alleyway and deeply regretting my recent avatar change from a technical god of creativity to a simple jellyfish otaku. There was no time to change back now and the moderators wouldn't approve anything that would give me an advantage anyway.
I heard the sound of a large build up of energy somewhere up ahead but before I could register the danger, I felt the pain of an electric current run through my body and then followed by that numb feeling from the shock. I was down, even though I couldn't remember ever falling, just the sound of my frantically increasing heart rate. The Enforcers were standing above me now and one of them began to speak.
"Emy34, you are being suspended for treason against the Admin of Eternal, undermining Moderator authority, and aiding an unlawful resistance against the Admin of Eternal. Anything you do or say from now on, can and will be held against you..."
As it's voice died out and subsided into a constant ringing, my subconscious slipped into the void between the forums.
~~~
When I came to, I was laying in a cold and dark room. I sat up and immediately a screen popped up. "Would you like to customize your suspension cell?" Rage poured into my veins and I swung at the hologram but as expected, passed through it.
As quickly as the anger hit, it evaporated and I broke down, albeit not willingly. I selected the "Not Now" option and the screen disappeared without anymore snarkiness; thank goodness. I wrapped my arms around myself and curled up as the darkness set in. The tears threatened to flow again and this time, they did.
I don't know how long I lay there but I couldn't cry any longer and yet I didn't want to do anything else. Then I heard a soft tapping and a string of letters and numbers flashed across the black.
I gasped and scooted as far away as I could but only managed two inches. Part of the darkness seemed to collapse in on itself and a man I assumed to be Kili from the Hobbit stepped through into my cell.
After a few awkward seconds, he spoke, "Are you coming or not? The longer I leave this open, the easier the Mods will be able to find us."
I blinked then stiffly nodded, "Uh, yes, of course, sir!"
He didn't say anything but instead grabbed my arm and pulled me through the portal. Instead of the usual darkness that happened whenever one traveled to another board, we stepped into a gray room with many other characters standing inside.
I didn't recognize most of them but there was young man dressed in a military uniform and aviator glasses, a mustached Lego adventurer, and a man with a mountainous landscape for a face.
The military guy spoke to my rescuer, "Are we secure?"
The man typed a few strings of code into a hologram before nodding, "Yes, you may all unmask." Even his voice was different from what the character normally sounded like.
The adventurer was the first person I recognized. He typed a code into another hologram and the name Torahvision appeared above his head. "Hey Emy, glad you could make it," he grinned.
I chuckled, "I was wondering where you went to, Kestrel. Have you been here all along?"
"Pretty much," he nodded.
The others had also "unmasked" now and I recognized their names also. The army guy now had the name "Keplers," the mountain man had become "Sam8432," and Kili was now "~♔Kingwja♔~."
"Where are we?" I asked.
The four exchanged glances and Torah opened his mouth to speak but Sam cut him off. "Maybe its best we don't tell you yet; just in case something happens. However, I can tell you that you're no longer on Eternal anymore. Welcome to our little piece of the internet."
Good, to know. I was literally seconds from tagging you in the LotR chatroom when I saw this. XD
I do hope so, it's always sad when you have those topic that stop mid story and I always hope that new ones won't go that way!!!
My phone vibrated as my second alarm went off, pulling me from yet another beautiful dream. I quickly turned it off and rolled over, snuggling deeper into my fluffy white tiger blanket. One of my legs rolled over a familiar soft, warm lump in the blanket. My cat was smack dab in the middle of my bed taking up most of the mattress and blanket.
I pulled my leg away and settled for an uncomfortable rest with a little corner of my blanket. My cat yawned and stretched out her front legs. Her golden yellow eyes met mine for a few moments before she lazily blinked. I felt myself smile slightly. Oh man, was she ever cute!
Sighing, I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. She began grooming the fur on her back with her sandpaper-like tongue. "Oh Autumn," I muttered as I began stroking between her ears, "You just have a knack for being adorable." I began running my hands along the sides of her face and she leaned into them. Aww! A familiar raspy motor started up somewhere deep inside her throat. I just didn't have the heart to shove her over off my mattress today.
I stopped petting her for a moment and glanced around the room I shared with my younger sister. Golden sun beams were streaming through a crack my cat had made in between the purple curtains, bathing our bedroom with light. Autumn seemed to have been a bit active last night since the purple dragon my sister had crocheted for my last birthday wasn't on the shelf at the foot of my bed but on the floor, again.
Speaking of my sister, I glanced down at the lower part of our trundle bed where she slept. She had pulled her fluffy horse blanket up over her head and was still sleeping. I smirked, how she could do that for long periods of time let alone sleep, was beyond me. She probably woke up early this morning because of the cat.
My eyes trailed to the clock perched on one of our dressers. 8:16 a.m. Hm, figures. I couldn't hear any movement from the rest of the house so I assumed I was the only one awake. I propped myself up with my pillow and unlocked my phone. Maybe I'd browse Youtube for a bit.
My recommended page seemed to be mostly full of music, let's play videos, and dank memes. I wasn't in the mood for any of those so I kept scrolling. Then I got a push notification for my email account.
Normally, I ignored these but I noticed that it was a message from the moderators of the Eternal Message Boards or EMB's for short. Curious, I logged into my account and opened the private message. Funny, I thought, I knew they were looking for new mods but I've never seen anyone named John Doe around. The message was pretty straight forward, just a reminder to review the community guidelines and he even provided a handy link to the page. I've always been a rule abiding user, so I tapped the link without hesitation.
That was a mistake. A blinding light flashed from my phone's screen, sending a wave of nausea through me. I couldn't see and I couldn't think. Then everything went black and my body went numb.
