So any of the things said by characters in these chapters are totally not real and neither I nor the users playing them hold those opinions, unless otherwise expressed by me or them. They're only there because I'm doing my best to make it realistic. XD
After that disclaimer, anyone have any questions about the characters? I can tell ages, countries, and various other things but I reserve the right to not answer questions that would have spoilers. Or simply because I didn't know the answer. XD Anyways ask me anything!
Wanda put her elbows on her desk and folding her hands she let her head droop into them. It had been tough being the Head of everything, especially this past year. Things had happened, hard things. The country near them had suddenly declared hate for them and she had lost months of sleep and worked like a dog to figure out why and to fix it all. After that she had been secretly landed in the hospital with exhaustion and fatigue. Her blood pressure was not the best and her doctor told her to take it easy or else. Worst case scenario, possible heart failure or stroke. She was on medication and mad about it, and stressed. And then she found out that there had been a Fourth Wall that was kept a secret for nearly four hundred years. That had pretty much put her over the top. In public she was in charge, cool almost unaffected by this "surprise". But that night she had gone home and thrown bricks at vases in her concrete garage. This, she had found over the years, was by far the very best way to get out her anger without injuring others of course. That or furious gardening. Wanda exhaled and pushed her chair back, standing up come to her decision. She packed her things into her briefcase and battened down the hatches of her office for the evening. As she walked past her Second's office she peeked in, leaning on the doorframe. "Hey, I'm going to head home for the evening. Anything you need me to handle over the weekend?" Carter's eyebrow shot up and he cast a quick confirming glance at the clock, which read 3:15 p.m. His head snapped back to her and his expression was very concerned. "Are you sick?" He knew about her doctor's orders. She shook her head quickly.
Con stood in line, now perfectly straight. Tough and disciplined just like all the others are. But this time was different, he was going to move to the Jay part of the compound. He was pretty much physically vibrating with adrenaline and excitement. His newest friends stood nearby and Con felt that he blinked and the Sarge was dismissing them all. He went to pack his bags, but hesitated. He felt strongly that he should go talk to the Sarge. Who knows when he would see her next, and sure. She was tough on them, she was strong, no nonsense and absolutely hardcore. But she was also a good person, she looked out for her agents and taught them. He pivoted and walked back to her, thankful in the back of his mind that everyone else had wandered off. He'd rather not get teased for the rest of his life for this. Clearing his throat and swallowing his nerves he called out to her. "Sir? Umm, sir" She turned back to look up at him with questioning eyes. "I…..I just wanted to. Well to thank you." His voice broke and he stuck out his chin, "For everything. You've been great. I'm different, better than I've ever been. And you taught me a type of loyalty I have never conceived before. I…." She silenced him with the first small smile he had ever seen on her. She put her hand on his arm, "Soldier, we all are family now. We will always have your back. Nothing can wash away the months of what you've experienced closely here with the others." She nodded once approvingly and the walked away with purpose. Con went to the bunks to pack, quite and full of an emotion he had never experienced this strongly. Protection, heart, loyalty, pride, honor.
Con slung his duffle bag over his shoulder and moved to leave, shoulder to shoulder with his friends. As they walked down the corridor of metal bunks something happened, a small scattering of clapping started. It quickly spread around until the clapping was thunderous and cheers and calls echoed throughout and a hail of rolled up socks and other soft paraphernalia rained down around them. The tough way of saying goodbye. Con felt a warm liquid-y feeling rise inside his bones as his formerly hostile fellow agents cheered him on. He felt Katie take his hand in friendship on one side, and Cade's sleeve brush his sleeve on the other. They stepped into the brighter outside together and made their way through what seemed dozens of gates and chain link fences. After a few minutes they were deposited inside a new set of fences. Surprisingly, the large tents in it looked pretty much the same as the last ones. After loitering around in the silent, seemingly deserted Jay yard clearing, Con decided to just pick a bunk. The threesome quickly made their way between the deserted rows of skeletal metal frames into the back corner. Katie took the top bunk of the one in the corner, from there she could see all the other bunks and the entrance to the tent. Con took the bottom on the one mirroring Katies, and Cade took the one above his. They spent about thirty minutes of Con flipping cards at his feet, Cade apparently sleeping, and Katie sketching before something finally happened. Someone walked in. She was about their age, petite with blonde hair falling in loose curls to just below her shoulders. Her brown eyes were wide as she attempted to see in the dimmer tent interior.
She moved forward hesitantly and nearly stumbled on a bed leg. Moving close to them she gave a friendly smile and plopped her semi old fashioned suitcase on the bottom bunk at the end of Katie's. "HI! I guess I should introduce myself since there's no possible way you know me, I'm Jane Piet, pronounced (Pea-et) but you can call me Jay, practically everyone does. Who are you all?" Con shook hands with her noted her friendly enthusiasm. "I'm Conner, they call me Con though. That's Katie, and he's Cade." He hooked his thumb behind him at the top bunk. Jay gasped and gave a little laugh, "Oh, wow I totally didn't even see him. Well you all seem very nice, I hope we all get along, are we the only ones?" Con shrugged and glanced at Katies eyes as she looked between the bars on her bed. She shook her head, none of them knew. Jay quickly settled into the boredom of the moment and began playing a flute. She was quite good. Con was just starting to drift off when Nexo and another boy made it to their little party. Con and Nexo quickly enacted a tacklehug and Nexo, being slightly taller, made no delay ruffling his hair around. Con was happy just to know he had a blood brother, so he grinned and ignored the hair. Introductions went around and Landon joined their group of now six.
They ended up spending the rest of the whole day doing nothing, and Con spent most of the night tossing and turning until Cade made the quite tapping noise on the metal bunk that he had worked out to mean, "Stop stressing. Sleep, so the rest of us can too." After a few hours of fitful rest they all rose at the crack of dawn and dressed in a snap out of habit. After they all made quick visits to the cat rooms the teens drifted into the yard clearing and blinked quinty eyed at the pink and orangy-red sun rising over the hill. Con's heart nearly lurched out onto the dirt when he turned around and saw a man standing not ten feet from them. The man stood lanky and tall, he had emerald green eyes and dark red auburn hair, with brown. He was smiling, a small quirk to one side and his hands where in the pockets of his fatigues. Con thought for a moment that he would have passed as a fellow irishman. The new comer rocked happily back and forth on his heel, "Well lads and lassies, it's a bonnie morning en' it? I'm Shad Roken. But most call me Sham, or Shamrock." He chuckled as if thinking of some funny memory. "Well as yu may have gathered already I will be teachen yu how to control and hone yur powers, or for some of yu," He cast a darting glance at Con. "How to unlock them. The warm ups start today and will get harder as needed so yu continue to learn. It's been a bit since a group's been through here, but I was getten lonely anyways. Let's do this." They all followed 'Sham' down a nearby trail into the woods. As they walked Con started to wonder what Shamrock's powers were anyways. Along the pathway he slowly noticed that the plants around Sham as they walked looked nicer, in fact the sun seemed to shine brighter around him, the flowers more vivid, the dirt even looked more intense and lively. Con began to realize it was like he had a halo of life around him. Sham's voice cut him back to the moment. "Alright. Let's test out yur powers one by one, that way I can see how good you are with them. Then will pick our weapons." His bright eyes settled on Nexo. "Yu first."
Nexo swiftly complied and everyone moved away so they didn't get accedentally in the way. Sham watched and offered only "hmmmm" in answer. Then he nodded at Jay, she closed her eyes a moment then her eyes flew open and she hit the dirt as an dirt raining fern clump the size of a gallon jug hurtled over. It's flight ended when it disagreed with a tree trunk. Jay hopped back up her cheeks slightly pink, "Sorry about that, I'm just nervous. I have trouble controlling it when I get overwhelmed." Sham made a soothing motin with his hand, then nodded at Landon. Landon took a sturdy stance and they all watched interested as a pale version of himself slipped out and drifted off to climb a near by tree. Origional Landon stayed dead still, but the pale him seemed completely free. Then the faded one stepped back into Landon, who rolled his shoulders. "I know everything I learn while I'm seperated. I call it casting." Next Cade closed his eyes and tipped his chin down, everything stopped with in a mile radius. When he released them a moment later Con had a rush of thoughts that had been suspended during their stasis. It was weird, he had felt the cells in his bones halt, then start up again, but only after release. Katie moved forward a bit then brushed her hand against a tree. She faded away and a tree took her place, she was living breathing chameleon. The last one left was Con, his shoulders slumped as he didn't have his powers yet. Shamrock smiled kindly, "Don't worry lad, yu'll get there soon enough. I'll help yu later. But now lets all choose our weapons. Who all already has a weapon?" Cade and Landon raised their hands. "Okay, let's see em." Landon pulled out two very tech wristbands, they seemed to be able to shoot several different kinds of projectiles. They were gold and he handled them easily since he had, after all, made them. Cade let two slender knives slide out of his sleeves into his hands. They were one foot long, silver on black, with rings on the ends of the handles to spin with. Sham nodded then clapped his hands together, "Back to camp to get the rest of you geared up."
